  • Top notch angle grinder
This is a quality angle grinder, it meets all the requirements you need to complete most cutting tasks. It's a real value buy!!

  • Better than I expected, but poor storage case
I'm not a pro but do use an angle grinder occasionally. Typically I use a plug-in type, but I found this cordless model to be useful. It had the power I needed to cut some sheet steel and some thick bolts, with battery power to space. Construction seems to be good quality with a decent amount of heft. While I don't own other Dewalt tools, so I couldn't check compatibility, the included battery is good - it's rated at 4Ah, and it actually provided that amount of power (I tested it with a battery load tester), which is very rare a nonbranded battery. After being discharged that amount, the loaded voltage was down to 15V, and while the tool still operated at that voltage, it's probably at the point where you'd want to recharge (the capacity indicator built into the battery showed one bar out of four). The charger is the typical "starter" charger you get with typical battery tool sets, but unlike other cheap chargers, it has the power supply built into the charger unit itself, not the plug, so there's no wall wart. It's rated at 2A output, which means it should be able to recharge the battery in about 2 hours, give or take. Even the included cutoff wheel was decent and still has a good amount of life left after several metal cuts. Where it's let down is the case. My old Ryobi cord-powered grinder has a large sturdy case which allows you to store the tool with blade guard, blade and aux handle still attached. The case included with this grinder is poor. It's not that sturdy, and to be able to store the tool, you need to uninstall EVERYTHING including the battery, blade and guard. I won't be using it; instead I'll store the tool with my other battery powered drills, screwdrivers and saws. ... show more

  • Plenty of power!
This may be cordless, but it has plenty of power. I even spent nearly a half hour with a wire brush head, then a polymer head, finishing with a flap disk head to clean rust off of a bunch of old axes and a Pulaski, then put an edge on them. The level of vibration on the polymer disk was so bad that it kept triggering the kick back/drop sensor, turning off the grinder. That proved that it not only works, but works well. I was impressed with getting a hard case with the grinder, even though it is not set up in the best way possible, having to disassemble the grinder by taking off the guard and handle to store it. There is no place to put the guard, so it is flopping around inside the box, likely to leave wear marks on anything it is touching if hauled in a vehicle to and from a work area. It does have room for two batteries and the charger, but you have to pull the battery off the grinder to put it in the case as well. So to have any ends to mount onto the grinder, you also have to haul those separately, or they will be rubbing on everything in the case. So it is best to have a tool box with the case, for the various items you will want/need when using the grinder. The locking power button design is nice, allowing for a full grip on the body of the grinder, without worrying about breaking a power button by squeezing too tight. The grinder doesn't like hot days, with how much heat it produces when being used, but it is not unreasonable, just watch where you touch when changing heads. The battery also likes to bind up, so using the palm of your hand to hit it free, then pinch the button with one hand while pressing the handle down onto the ground to free the battery is how I solved that issue. The pictures show a black and grey charger with a black battery, while I got yellow and black, matching the grinder. Everything has little quirks, and this grinder is no exception, yet I have no complaints, just comments about what I observed. For the money I had high hopes that I was going to get something well made, and I did. I would expect this grinder to match the performance of most brand name grinders, that cost well over two to three times as much. Well worth getting if you need the versatility of working where there are no power cords. ... show more

  • Lots of power on tap!
Excellent grinder! I use corded grinders constantly and just wanted something a bit more portable. I put a cut-off wheel on straight out of the box and made a few test cuts in some 18ga sheet metal and it performed flawlessly. There isn't a lot of vibration, which you can sometimes get from cheap grinders. Even the tone of the brushless motor isn't grating. Next, I put a flap wheel on and blended a weld and even when bearing down hard, the tool didn't bog down. This grinder has power to spare! There are three speeds available, but honestly, I'll likely just use it in high gear for every job. But having the option to slow it down a bit is nice, should I need it. The included 4ah battery lasted a bit longer than I anticipated, but still, this is a high drain device so don't expect to run it all day on one battery. Thankfully, it uses the DeWalt platform and there are many options for batteries available. The included guard is quick adjust and easy-ish to reposition for different cutting angles and the removable side handle can provide an extra handhold if needed. The body is shaped in a way it's pretty easy to hang on to even without using the side handle. As good as this is, I don't see any reason to purchase the "name brand" tool. This provides better value for the money in my opinion. ... show more
