It is unique on how you turn it on as the on/off switch is a button on the bottom. So, when you put it on a hardwood floor or top of a cabinet it clicks and the light comes on above. It won't work on heavy carpet but can on area rugs that are low pile. I use this both in the bedoom on top of the cabinet and in the living room as I currently live in a place where the windows are single pane. You can adjust the temp easily on it. This little heater did what I needed, it helps warm a cooler room in my home and cuts down on my fuel oil costs. The only compliment have is the fan doesn’t blow very hard, so it does not heat the area it claims to heat.

It works, and the tip protection is nice. Mine started making odd fan noises after a couple uses. The controls dont make a lot of sense and you can't adjust the fan speed. It's pretty loud. The outer casing seems to have security tape all around it, which is weird but I left it on because I suspect that it's so flimsy that the tape is structural. I bought three different heaters to compare. This one heated well and has nice controls and safety features. But it was a bit noisy and buzzy, so I went with a different brand. In addition, the front guard is black, so the gray heating element inside is very noticeable. The other brand had a gray grill which hid it much better.
