  • Fast read out
Color: Yellow
Cooper bio therms is the only brand I use in my kitchen. Normally one can handle about 3 years of abuse before no longer working. When they start to die the first thing Iโ€™ve noticed is you can temp the same item in almost the same spot multiple times and get drastically different readings each time

  • Best bang for your buck
Color: Yellow
Bought 2 of these a couple years ago for family and they still are used and accurate. Taylor/Atkins is the best brand for this.. Been in the commercial food equipment service business 20 years and it is the Go To brand for food integrity testing. As quick of a reading as you can get unless you want to spend a couple hundred dollars ... show more

  • The cover is difficult to remove and the battery was dead upon arrival
Color: Yellow
I use this brand of thermometer at work and it's easy to use and very accurate. I ordered this new one to find the battery was dead and the cover/sheath is extremely difficult to remove and put back on. With a new battery, it works great and I'm going to assume the more I use the cover, it will loosen up a bit. I'm giving it a 4 for the issues I had upon arrival. ... show more

  • Accurate out of the package
Color: Yellow
Update 17 Dec 2021: I still use and enjoy using this thermometer regularly. To make it perfect in my eyes, I would (in order of importance to me): - make the buttons larger (they're a bit hard to press because they bend sideways easily) - add a dedicated "hold" button instead of one button that cycles between hold, min, and max modes - add a backlight - make the clip more useful Copper sells another thermometer (the DPP800W MAX) that appears to fix three of these issues (larger buttons, dedicated hold button, better clip) and also has a longer probe. I'm giving one as a gift to a family member and will try to update this review to give my thoughts. Update, 20 Mar 2020: Really enjoy using this thermometer while cooking at home, use it multiple times per week. Even though it's not instant read, I'd say it usually approaches temp within about 3 seconds. If I could change anything about it, I'd love for it to have a backlight as I often use it outside at night while cooking on the grill. Original review from 17 Sep 2019: Haven't gotten a chance to use it much yet, but I tested it right out of the package in some boiling water and ice water and it read 100.1 C and 0.8 C respectively, well within the stated accuracy tolerances. Wanted to add some photos of the packaging for anyone who's interested. Display is easy to read as long as there's light, and it's very intuitive to use if you just want to take some temps or switch between F and C. It has a few more advanced features like HOLD/MIN/MAX and turning off the auto-shutoff, just read the directions and it's pretty easy to figure out. ... show more

  • Best Kitchen Thermometer available
Color: Yellow
Best little kitchen thermometer around. You can use this to check the accuracy of all others. It reads quick. One good use is checking how hot the water is from your faucet. Let the water run a bit until it is hot than check. It should be at 130 degrees F. for sanitizing dishes or laundry. Dust mites die at this temp. It doesn't have an automatic timed shut off so the power button must be pushed to turn it off. But I've left mine on for days and the battery has lasted well over a year. It has a button battery which can be replaced. I have to order another one of these because the first one is missing. Used the first one for almost 2 years without changing the battery even after leaving the unit on for days. It is accurate as possible. Plus or minus 2 degrees as stated can just as easily be exact. That is a range, not a fact. Laws of thermodynamics dynamics say that water is in all states, liquid, gas and ice. All at the same time. It.s just a matter of percent. That is why ice cubes evaporate in a freezer. Molecules of ice absorb heat and turn to steam at 212degrees F. If testing boiling water, at sea level and the standard barometric pressure, it must read less than 212F as any water that reaches that temp becomes steam. I use this for meats including chicken and it is right on the mark. One use is for bread. The target temp for perfect bread is 195 F. Take the bread out at that temp and just like meat, the temp will rise to 200. The bread will be baked perfectly. No reason to spend more for a temp probe as this one works so well. ... show more
