  • ice cold and whisper quiet
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
The first time I saw mini split units was in 2003 at El Greco, in MoBay Jamaica, and I think those were Mitsubishis. Well... let me tell you something. These have come a long way since then. The hardest thing about the installation of this model had nothing to do with the model itself, rather it was drilling out the 70+ year old concrete hole in the wall of the house this was going into. I hired an electrical contractor to install this directly into the electrical panel for me and I'm glad I did (that way I didn't have to mess with plugging and unplugging this unit into the wall, taking up an outlet, etc). Do yourself a favor.. if you know concrete or have a friend that does, pour yourself a slab on the ground to mount this unit onto (the installation kit includes four .25" rubber pads to mount this onto to minimize vibration, though this unit barely vibrates if at all). The compressor itself is whisper quiet, and like others have said in other reviews, unless you put your hand in front of its vent, you won't notice that it's on (aside from the cold air coming out of it). Gone is the loud noise of the fan of a central ac compressor blowing outside, or a wall unit. This thing barely makes any noise. It's also much nicer on your wallet and doesn't suck as much energy as a central ac unit. Before I got this, I would have to sleep with an R2D2 (portable AC on wheels) in my bedroom making noise all night. Since I got this, R2D2 has not been turned on once and my sleep has been much more restful. With The Cooper & Hunter on in the living room, and my 60" fan on low speed in the bedroom, I sleep just fine. If you have the money and a bigger house, instead of going with central air conditioning, consider putting one of these into all of the bedrooms and living room. These would also make a great addition to RVs, no more sleeping on the runway of an airport.. ... show more

  • Very impressed
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
Just had the system installed. Done by a professional, but at a low cost because it is quite easy. No special training needed. Right away, love it. It's in the living room/dining room area, so shut off central air most of the day, no need to AC upstairs bedrooms. It runs continuously, so no spikes of AC blast, followed by a warming period. Quiet inside and outside - so nice. Its small size means easy to place and not an eyesore. Has bluetooth. Also, it's 110 voltage plug-in, so much easier to install, without a permit. I've used the better known brands before with great results. So far, this system seems just as good. Only day 2, I'll do an update in a few months. ... show more

  • Awesome unit and it is QUIET, in and out.
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
A ton of reviews. Well it is a one ton unit. Watch the videos, the best is AC Service Tech LLC, very detailed. Use the Nylog and a torque wrench, take your time. Granted first day but great this day. I will follow up with an update later on. Qualified for an energy rebate in my area. Going to get another one for the other end of the house. UPDATE: Also purchased the 18,000 BTU unit for my wood shop and it too is whisper quiet and does a fantastic job of humidity and temperature control. Very happy with this brand. May even consider replacing my PTAC units with the mini split as it mounts higher up on the wall and will free up a bit of wall space not to mention its very quiet. UPDATE: Purchased a third unit. 18,000 BTU and also a fourth one also an 18,000 BTU unit. Installed at the very end of May 2022 and First of June 2022. Works well and am very happy with the units. My third unit came with a different remote than the other three and did not have a remote holder, so I made my own. It is usually a set and forget. Not a big deal but just odd. Seems like a new design and works just as well as the other three. Got the install done in a day as I already had the Nylog (recommended) and the vacuum pump and gauges. Also do leak checking when opening the lines with some Big Blu. I would likely go with the spray bottle next time but do like the brush on. Get some Nylog. Have not had a leak and thats after four units installed. Must say the house AC has hardly run, it is at the center of the house and the mini splits take care of the surrounding areas. ... show more

  • Works Great - but this is really not a DIY project unless you have experience or are brave.... Works Great - but this is really not a DIY project unless you have experience or are brave....
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
This AC unit works great, but is really not a DIY project unless you have experience with AC systems or are just brave and willing to spend lots of extra time and $$. One other very important consideration is the length of the run between your inside unit and outside. The package comes with about 16' My run was just under 40' which added another $130+ for additional piping. I also had to invest in a flare tool, pipe cutter and pipe bender (as I have a few 90 degree turns I had to make). I had a vacuum pump and gauges as I recently put AC in a trans am but I imagine most DIY people would have to invest in that as well. Also the additional piping meant the system did not come with adequate R410 refrigerant so that was needed as well. All told it cost about $300+ additional (and more if you do not have the Vacuum pump and gauges) and more like 10 hours to install if you have a longer run like I did. However once installed, I was impressed by how well it worked and how quite it was. I know the other reviews talk about this but it really is quiet. It's almost impossible to know it's on (when on low settings) and that applies to the outside unit as well. I will put more of these units in, but and focus my design on keeping the piping run to 16' or less. ... show more

  • Worked for less than a day Worked for less than a day
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
Let me start by saying it was great at first. We bought it for our newly built small home gym. It was all delivered on time and it was installed the following day of delivery. After installed we were amazed with how quiet it was and how quick it cooled the (small) room. We turned it off for the night. Turned it on the next morning used it for a few hours and then a loud noise came from the unit outside. Husband looked in and the fan completely spun itself off. We thought , no worries things happen, we will call manufacturer and have them send us another fan since nothing else was damaged. It took 3 days to get ahold of someone. When we talked to customer service she asked what happens and for pictures. We sent them and her response was “this doesn’t look like a manufacture issue”. If the customer service knew about the product they would know that when the unit is installed the fan portion doesn’t even need to be accessed at all. Therefore, we received it with it being a MANUFACTURE ISSUE. Fast forward, they agreed to send us a new fan BUT we have to pay for shipping so we paid for two day shipping (which is more than the actual fan blade cost, customer service told us what the cost of the new fan blade would be). Fast forward again , 5 days later and still no fan….. I’m sure the unit will work great when we can actually use it again but after the experience we have had with the customer service as well as having to pay more money for something we haven’t even been able to use is very disappointing ... show more

  • great mini splits
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
I bought several MIA 12k and 9K units. They work well are very quiet. I really haven't been able to use the AC but on a 80' day the unit was blowing 34' on the AC setting. While it is 48' outside, the unit was putting out 115' heat. The units were very easy to install in my old 1847 farm house. I had to drill through about 10.5'' of brick to run the line set. I covered the lineset using 4'' down spouting and it looks like it supposed to be there. Great units. I haven't had to use tech support so I can not rate that. I am a DIYer with 99% of my remodel of my house. The most difficult part was running the line set on a 40ft ladder, not hard just a pain. On a smaller home these units would be a breeze to install. If you want a great mini split the Cooper and Hunter is a must!!!! ... show more

  • Have a Pro Do the Install
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
This is definitely NOT a DIY kit. There are YT videos floating around making it sound like a person can sort of maybe install themselves. Bad idea. Yes, a DIY'r can do all the physical mounting, no issue. But the actual connections? Purging? Leak testing? Leave that to someone with the skill and equipment to do the job correctly. The unit has been running for over a week now. As others say, very quiet. Inside and out. I have mine set up with Alexa. The unit is in a standalone woodshop. It is a small space, 392 sq ft with 9 ft ceilings. I am running the 12K BTU and it has no issues dropping the temp to 70 in 95 degree North Carolina heat. No idea of how well it will do during the winter in regards to heating. The person who did the hook up is a professional. He stated he thought the unit was well made and was happy with some of the features. ... show more
