  • Very impressed
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
Just had the system installed. Done by a professional, but at a low cost because it is quite easy. No special training needed. Right away, love it. It's in the living room/dining room area, so shut off central air most of the day, no need to AC upstairs bedrooms. It runs continuously, so no spikes of AC blast, followed by a warming period. Quiet inside and outside - so nice. Its small size means easy to place and not an eyesore. Has bluetooth. Also, it's 110 voltage plug-in, so much easier to install, without a permit. I've used the better known brands before with great results. So far, this system seems just as good. Only day 2, I'll do an update in a few months. ... show more

  • Have a Pro Do the Install
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
This is definitely NOT a DIY kit. There are YT videos floating around making it sound like a person can sort of maybe install themselves. Bad idea. Yes, a DIY'r can do all the physical mounting, no issue. But the actual connections? Purging? Leak testing? Leave that to someone with the skill and equipment to do the job correctly. The unit has been running for over a week now. As others say, very quiet. Inside and out. I have mine set up with Alexa. The unit is in a standalone woodshop. It is a small space, 392 sq ft with 9 ft ceilings. I am running the 12K BTU and it has no issues dropping the temp to 70 in 95 degree North Carolina heat. No idea of how well it will do during the winter in regards to heating. The person who did the hook up is a professional. He stated he thought the unit was well made and was happy with some of the features. ... show more

  • Awesome unit and it is QUIET, in and out.
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
A ton of reviews. Well it is a one ton unit. Watch the videos, the best is AC Service Tech LLC, very detailed. Use the Nylog and a torque wrench, take your time. Granted first day but great this day. I will follow up with an update later on. Qualified for an energy rebate in my area. Going to get another one for the other end of the house. UPDATE: Also purchased the 18,000 BTU unit for my wood shop and it too is whisper quiet and does a fantastic job of humidity and temperature control. Very happy with this brand. May even consider replacing my PTAC units with the mini split as it mounts higher up on the wall and will free up a bit of wall space not to mention its very quiet. UPDATE: Purchased a third unit. 18,000 BTU and also a fourth one also an 18,000 BTU unit. Installed at the very end of May 2022 and First of June 2022. Works well and am very happy with the units. My third unit came with a different remote than the other three and did not have a remote holder, so I made my own. It is usually a set and forget. Not a big deal but just odd. Seems like a new design and works just as well as the other three. Got the install done in a day as I already had the Nylog (recommended) and the vacuum pump and gauges. Also do leak checking when opening the lines with some Big Blu. I would likely go with the spray bottle next time but do like the brush on. Get some Nylog. Have not had a leak and thats after four units installed. Must say the house AC has hardly run, it is at the center of the house and the mini splits take care of the surrounding areas. ... show more

  • Works Great - but this is really not a DIY project unless you have experience or are brave....
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
This AC unit works great, but is really not a DIY project unless you have experience with AC systems or are just brave and willing to spend lots of extra time and $$. One other very important consideration is the length of the run between your inside unit and outside. The package comes with about 16' My run was just under 40' which added another $130+ for additional piping. I also had to invest in a flare tool, pipe cutter and pipe bender (as I have a few 90 degree turns I had to make). I had a vacuum pump and gauges as I recently put AC in a trans am but I imagine most DIY people would have to invest in that as well. Also the additional piping meant the system did not come with adequate R410 refrigerant so that was needed as well. All told it cost about $300+ additional (and more if you do not have the Vacuum pump and gauges) and more like 10 hours to install if you have a longer run like I did. However once installed, I was impressed by how well it worked and how quite it was. I know the other reviews talk about this but it really is quiet. It's almost impossible to know it's on (when on low settings) and that applies to the outside unit as well. I will put more of these units in, but and focus my design on keeping the piping run to 16' or less. ... show more

  • Do Not Buy - Defective Unit, No Real Warranty Support
Size: 12,000 BTU, 115V
I purchased this Cooper & Hunter mini split and from the moment of installation, it never worked. The unit had a factory weld leak straight out of the box, which means it was defective before I ever turned it on. Instead of honoring their warranty, the distributor (Comfortside) repeatedly brushed me off and tried to blame the installer. Over the course of a week in 96-degree heat, I went back and forth with their “technical support” sending videos, photos, serial numbers, and even mock-ups from my technician proving the leak was at the weld. Their response? “The installer needs to fix that.” That is not a warranty. That is the manufacturer refusing responsibility for their own factory defect. Because they refused to step up, I had to spend nearly $1,000 out of pocket on diagnosis and installation just to deal with their defective product. Even after acknowledging it was a covered defect, they are still insisting I pay shipping costs to replace the unit — which is insulting considering the unit never functioned for a single day. This brand and distributor clearly know how to hide behind fine print while leaving customers stuck with the bill. They may claim compliance with their warranty, but what good is a “warranty” that leaves you without air conditioning in a heatwave and forces you to chase them for weeks just to be told it’s your problem? Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. There are plenty of reputable brands that stand behind their products. Cooper & Hunter and Comfortside are not one of them. Verdict: 1 out of 5 stars. It would be 0 out of 5 stars, but that is not an option. A brand-new unit should never arrive broken, and a warranty should mean more than empty promises and shifting costs back onto the customer. ... show more
