so unpackaging it was a pain in the butt because I was down a hand (injury). and I didn't realize until I was tearing into the box that I could've just lifted up on the box and then picked it up to take the styrofoam off the bottom. A little card of how to take it out of the packaging would be nice but... Setting it up was very easy I mean very very easy! The only thing that was difficult is the dang tube! what I found that worked is I only stretched the very end of it and kept the rest of it compressed and then held it with my legs and screwed it on it kept going on crooked so I resorted to desperate measures lol. once the tube is on though it's pretty sturdy. When you first turn it on it's pretty powerful! I mean the whole machine makes a jolt. and it will cool down a room that is around 83° weather down to 65° in 25 mins. you're able to angle the direction of flow too up down left and right. it claims to be very energy efficient per the yellow sticker, it says it only adds $77 annually. The rating on the website is a bit confusing because one thing says it has one star and then the other one says that the rating is 6.5. I had to resort to a small trashcan next to it to collect the condensation, I started with a water bottle but that filled up insanely quick! There's two options to let it fill up or two have it continuously drain into a bucket or container. I opted to put some type of container by it because the location where I have it is a little bit cramped. I don't really use the nighttime mode where it claims to be quieter, I can sleep through a tornado lol it does have a loud fan like noise and when it's working really hard you hear the compressor shutting on and off and it makes a loud jolt. I got the 8500 one for 300 ft.² my bedroom is around 120 Square (feet i think) paid around 202 usd. With memorial day holiday it got delayed two days but Amazon kept me updated where it was. Another complaint is the window panel piece, I first couldn't even figure it out how to attach it to the hose then I just gave up after I realized it wouldn't even fit in my window. so I resorted to cardboard and just folded it to make it have a seal. No issues with that but if it's raining heavy then I have to take it out. I wish that different sizes were sold instead of just being told well you can cut it in the directions. another thing if you really do not know what you're doing the directions are no help at all! Oh and one thing is I ran it without the tube just to see what would happen and it made my room insanely hot! The tube is definitely needed! And honestly I wish they put it on all dehumidifiers because the one that is in the living room does not have a tube and it makes the house hotter as it removes the moisture. Finally some cool air!

I normally don't do reviews, but I AM a consistent review-reader, especially before buying anything expensive via Amazon. I recently purchased this Coolblus portable air conditioner in the almost-constant attempt to cool my bedroom during the summers in a newish house & state; for reference, I'm from CO but moved to OH almost 4 years ago. In my townhome, my master bedroom, ensuite, & 2ndary full bathroom are all on the north side of the house, along with our garage & driveway. The door into my master is on a diagonal & thus airflow is almost non-existent with the rest of the upstairs. We have a swamp cooler we brought with us from CO, which we don't use as it merely increases the humidity & provides no cooling; a "small-but-mighty" fan bought last year worked for all of 3 months last year then crapped out. This year, we spent a bit more to purchase this one, & HOLY FLAMING DRAGONBALLS, BATMAN, does it work!! The air coming out of it is so cold, I've had to adjust the temperature setting a few times, but my normally 10-degrees-different bedroom is now entirely liveable! It will take a bit of figuring out to install, mainly because the instructions are translated into English, but the videos attached to this listing are extremely helpful; additionally, the sliding part of the window vent will probably need cutting down to fit properly into some windows, but once that's all done, it's cake. Another couple of cons to mention: the window vent, again, will probably not fit completely flush with any window due to its adjustable design, but even with tiny gaps, this powerful machine demolishes the warm air seeping in; and finally, it IS loud - not loud enough to be a problem while sleeping, especially if you're already accustomed to sleeping with fans or other white noise, but I find that to hear sounds from my computer without cranking it up too high, I need my headphones. I don't have any information at this point regarding energy efficiency or how it will continue to work long-term, but you'd better believe I'll be updating later this year if something changes. If you're on the fence about buying this unit, I hope my information thus far helps you make a decision to make your environment more liveable! ... show more

Defective unit? Loud, icy, and did not cool

There’s been a heat wave and most older buildings in my city don’t have AC. I just moved into a new place a few weeks ago and wasn’t anticipating it getting so hot. My apartment building recently banned window AC units so a portal option was my next best choice. I did A LOT of research and this Coolblus option rose to the top based on the size of my apartment, what I needed it for, and my budget. The unit finally arrived today and I set it up…and I’m now highly disappointed and overwhelmed. I painstakingly set it up because I didn’t want to have any issues because of user error. I was originally going to have the unit in my living room (I have a pseudo 1 bedroom apartment) but the windows are too big to not use the extender but too small not to have to cut the extender. So I had to install the unit in my bedroom since I didn’t want to cut anything that would make the AC non returnable. It’s been 5+ hours and my space has not cooled. The only way I feel the AC working is standing directly in front of it. My apartment is around 400 sq ft and open concept so I thought this unit would help cool it down effectively. BUT it hasn’t even cooled down my less than 80 sq ft bedroom nook. On top of not working, it’s so loud. And the back is getting really icy while the tub is very very hot. Is my unit defective? I don’t think this should be happening. And since the only place I can have this unit is in my bedroom, I’m concerned about running it so close to the head of my bed when it’s so hot. I live alone on the 3rd floor of a walk up and it was such a struggle getting the unit up by myself. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to repackage it and send it back. I just know that I need to get another AC unit (I’ll have to up my budget and get a name brand this time) before the next heatwave. Feeling silly that I sunk $250 (inc. Tax) into this and waited out a 95+ degree heatwave for over a week just to not be any better off :( ... show more

Poor Exhaust Setup

Works well for small rooms. I'm currently using to cool down my small upstairs office which gets very hot in the spring and summer due to my computers putting out extra heat. The unit is only noisy when the compressor kicks on to cool the unit down for the fan to blow cold air, if you need to listen to something, you will need headphones or to turn up the volume to hear it over this unit. The remote and control panel on the unit are very easy to use and understand allowing for easy adjustments for temperature. Airflow is nice out of the front of the unit. However, the exhaust tube and its connections are very poor. You will need actual aluminum duct tape to prevent the tube from coming out of the connectors and to prevent heat from leaking back into the room. The tube shrivels from constant use and comes undone from either the window connector or the unit connector unless properly taped without blocking the vents. You will also need all weather tape to prevent air from leaking back in the window on the window exhaust bar. These were simple enough to do just costs extra money and time to keep the room properly cooled and the unit from having to run forever to cool down the room. The unit has a sleek appearance and easy to read control panel. I do not like the cheap way the exhaust for this is setup and the fact that you'll need two types of tapes to fix this poor design flaw in my opinion. Regardless, I'll use the unit for this year to see if it can take the very hot summers we get here. Hoping it decreases the electric bill and doesn't increase it. ... show more

Easy Installation. Took 10 minutes

So far so good. I will update again. Installing it was easy, it isn't too heavy. It rolls around to make it easier. It cools fairly quick and it came fast. It is clearly meant for a smaller room not a larger house. It needs a bucket to be drained for the water but it's really solid for 200 dollars. I prefer this over a window unit. Not sure how good the dehumidifier works on this yet. And it isn't much louder than a normal fan on low settings. ... show more

Incredible portable, movable air conditioner!

I was very leery buying the “non traditional” air conditioner but needed Coolblus Portable air conditioner for my humongous window in the bedroom. I am SOOOOO glad I brought this air conditioner. It came sooner than expected and packaged great. The Coolblus Portable Air Conditioner is incredible! It cools my room fast, runs super quiet, and is so easy to move around. I love the simple controls, the powerful airflow, and how quickly it drops the temperature. Setup took only minutes, and it’s surprisingly energy-efficient too. Cold, but Not the Best at Cooling Rooms.

I Had high hopes for this A/C based on past reviews and the specs listed. It was used in a second floor, 200 sqft bedroom. Unfortunately, the unit never adequately cooled down the room's ambient temperature to a reasonable level. Started it when the room was 84 degrees. After running it for 1.5 hours, the room only dropped 2 degrees. after 2.5 hours, the room only got down to 80. My previous unit from a different manufacturer got the room down to 68 in the same amount of time. It's cool enough if you are in the direct line of fire, but it probably would be more effective at room cooling if it had motorized louvers to circulate the cool air emanating from the unit. The noise level is about what one would expect from a unit this size and the addition of the dehumidifier feature is nice. The hose and attachments were a PITA to setup and the exhaust hose often popped off at the slightest movement of the unit. The drain hose placement is good & the unit did draw a lot of moisture from the air. Just make sure you have a good size bucket to collect the water. The display is facing the ceiling & if you are sitting or laying down, you can't tell what mode of temp setting you are at. The included remote is minimal at best. Only way to tell what setting you are on or wish to set is to get up and look at the display on top of the unit. A front facing display would've been a lot more convenient. Overall, I guess it's not too bad a unit for the price. It will cool you off if you are in close proximity to the unit, but as far as area cooling.. well, it kinda falls short. ... show more
