I bought this for traveling to Italy. I thought I could use it instead of my usual curling brush. It’s not super small but definitely not as big as my regular curling iron or brush. I don’t use a curling iron often, my hair is straight but I use a brush when blow drying to get the ends to curl under. I should have practiced with it more before going. It worked pretty well and I had no problems with the cord or anything else. It heats up very fast and it gets really hot. I only used on the lowest setting. It would be nice if it had a way to keep the heating elements closed, but I had a special thermal bag to put it in, so not a huge deal. You do still need a adapter to put it in, again not a problem - we bought an extra one in Italy for about $6.00 so my husband & I didn’t have to share our one adapter. I used this for the first time today and the verdict is: meh. I have thick, wavy, course hair, and it doesn't work great. I owned a CHI before which was GREAT. It broke only after a month because it fell off my sink, and because I didn't buy it off of their site any limited warranty was void. Please, I implore you, go out and get a CHI or other high-end straightener if you have a lot of hair like me. A lot of people on these reviews are saying that this straightener is just as good as expensive ones. It's not, not if you have hair like me. I straightened half of HALF of my hair, and that alone took ten minutes. To do all of my hair would take 30-45 minutes, which was pretty typical of my previous straighteners (CHI took 20-25 minutes). Basically, this straightener is fine, but it's JUST a $20 flat iron, so please expect that. It doesn't get much hotter than any other flat iron, and the 2" plates don't add much to the experience. Plus, because of my hair, it was left a little frizzy, but I think using a product before straightening can fix this. My review is this: if you've ever owned a really nice flat iron, you'll be disappointed. If not, then you'll be happy with it. EDIT: I have to edit this review because it actually IS better than any other $20 flat iron. I finally sat down and straightened my frizzy, curly hair beginning to end. Verdict: It did take me a very long time to straighten my hair (40 minutes), but if you're just relaxing watching TV anyway, not a huge deal. It's always taken me this long with other straighteners. What's different: The thing that sold me on this is that I straightened my hair 2 days ago, have slept on it, have had it blown around by the wind, have had it in hot AND cold weather (it's crazy in IL right now), and it still looks the SAME. I have not had to touch up my hair ONCE since I straightened it on Saturday, and that hasn't happened since my CHI. I still want a new CHI to cut straightening time in half, but anyone that has thinner or less wavy hair is really, really gonna love this because it really will only take minutes for them. this in no way gets as hot as my other flat iron. I don't buy expensive flat irons - I'm too cheap. Most people use their flat irons too hot and damage their hair. you should only use really high heat if you have ethnic hair. So, my previous flat iron, that my daughter stole, got so hot. it worked so good, but damaged my hair so bad. I had to turn it down so as not to damage my hair so much. So, I get this one last night, plug it in and try to curl my hair - you know, flat iron curling, not curl iron curling. it does nothing, so I turn it all the way up and hit boost. My hair is very fine and thick. It curls wonderfully. but the temp will take a little getting used to. all the way up and with boost on (had to keep hitting it as it's temporary), it curled my hair well. took a little bit to straighten some of my kinky ends - my hair is super wavy in the back. But, I love how easy it is to hold and wrap your hair around it. If your hair is coarse or ethnic, I doubt this would straighten your hair. or it would take forever. but maybe that's a good thing, so as to limit damage from the high heat? I had a really hard time curling my hair with my other flat iron, but it's so easy with this one. ... show more

I love everything about this flat iron. The curved style makes it much easier to use than traditional flat irons that are stick-like. It is also easy to use due to being lightweight, heats quickly and even has a turbo setting. There are 25 settings plus the additional turbo. I use it with a spray made to protect my hair from the heat, which also adds shine. I get so many compliments on my hair now. I had a professional flat iron that stopped working after 5 years. I bought this as a replacement thinking it wouldn’t be as good, due to the very affordable price. Was I ever wrong! This is especially nice for me as its design is ergonomic and does not flare my carpal tunnel as my professional flat iron did.
