  • Simple to use mold making
I made a mold of ceramic grapes and it came out perfect! Then used mold to make more grape sculptures from Plaster of Paris and glued those onto a project I'm working on. Great product works exactly as described in description.

  • Good for beginners but has some issues
So after using Composimold for a bit I think I can make a fair assessment on its abilities: Pros: Good for learning/beginners before they make the investment on silicone rubber, reusable, food safe (Only if the item is brand new) Good for making silicone castings without mold release Cons: You have to freeze half of it for two hours if you want to make a two part mold out of it, it smells gross when melted like stale gelatin, resin castings is not good for this (the heat reaction made the surface rough even when adding mold release and freezing the mold beforehand) I will continue using it solely for silicone castings but any thing that has a heat reaction like resin, I'll stick to silicone rubber. ... show more

  • So Cool
I am so happy with this product. Instaid of creating molds then toss them away, this multi-use product is just amazing. few seconds in the microwave and thats it. It toke it few more minutes to settle as it is warmer here in the middle east, but then I kept it in the fridg for minutes and magic happened. The specimen detailes were captured perfectly for my use. ... show more

  • Low cost, perfect for learning
I was surprised to see such tepid reviews on this product. It's loads of fun! It heats easily to a thick honey consistency and can be poured and released off of anything. If you spill it, it cleans easily. I use it for small concrete castings. Sure, it's not as good as silicone, but I've used my kit for casting 20 different objects and I'm not left with 20 different silicone molds. The price adds up so quick. It also doesn't take up much space and as can be recast with just scissors and cleaned with water. Magic. Get yourself some quick cure mortar mix concrete, this tub of composimold, and make up some mold release. I use baby powder and mineral spirits (1 part baby 3 parts mineral by volume). Make your mold, wait an hour while it chills in the freezer, then cover the mold with mold release. Cast your part and demold as soon as possible (between 4 and 24 hours depending on the mix and ambient conditions). Whatever you had before, now you have it in concrete! Kids like playing with clay? Duplicate it in concrete! Have a trinket you like, but it's made of plastic? Turn it into concrete! I've copied 3D prints, wood pieces, metal salt shakers, and even an oreo. There's a bit of fun science and fooling around to get things right. For example, I had to freeze the oreo first so the filling didn't melt. But hey, it's a hobby, not a job. right? Don't take it too seriously. If you were taking yourself seriously, you'd drop the big bucks and get some silicone mix. But that's no fun. This is. seriously :) Not a sponsored review, I just like the stuff and think it deserves some recognition. ... show more

  • Filtering is a nightmare on this.
Don't buy this item. It's a nightmare to reuse. The instructions tell you to use a cheesecloth filter, but the mold hardens up before it runs through. You have to play this game with the microwave of "red light, green light" with it. If you run the microwave to long, it'll melt the tub-o-ware (that it does say microwaveable on it) So you have to stop it before it gets to hot. And you can't help but to make a mess with it no matter on how careful you are with it. I even used a sink drainer that'll quicken the process, but allot of debris goes with it as well. And even with that, it's still not fast enough. So stick with silicone molding, it's way less of a hassle. ... show more
