Top Amazon Reviews

  • this fit my 2013 FJ Cruiser PERFECTLY and installed VERY easily
Color: Black
First off, let me say that this is the same exact product that others are selling on Amazon. (DNA Motoring part# RROEM-FJ07) Several other reviews really tore this product apart. I installed this on my 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser with zero issues... all in about an hour and fifteen minutes! I have read many complaints about the item not fitting correctly or being made of cheap plastic... well, it's rock solid and fit perfectly. It will fit as well for you if you have just a little common sense and touch of mechanical inclination. The first thing to do is to toss out the instructions. They are wrong, blurry, unclear and full of info that you won't need. My rack came in two pieces (left and right) as well as four cross bars and some mounting hardware. The most important thing I can tell you is DO NOT ASSEMBLE THE UNIT FIRST. If you assemble it as instructed it will most definitely NOT fit. I very loosely installed the right side before adding the left side and loosely bolting that on. By installing only one bolt per mounting point... (by installed I mean turned the bolts one or two threads... not torqued) I was able to line up all 12 points easily. then I finger tightened the 12 bolts before fastening the left and right halves together (at the back center area). Then I went back and torqued all 12 mounting bolts. At this point I installed four crossbars. I noticed that each crossbar was too short to span the rack. It turns out that they are adjustable! I think this is where many people fail. If I assembled the whole rack first with the shortened crossbars, nothing would have lined up. I adjusted each bar to fit properly and they went right on... no issues. Oh and as far as strength... sure some of the parts are plastic, but this thing is rock solid. I had a factory roof rack on my 2003 Ford Explorer as well as my 2008 Expedition... they were also a combo of plastic and aluminum. They never broke under extreme loads (12 sheets of drywall, dozens of 4x4 posts, my fat A**, overloaded Thule shell). This rack is much more rugged than those! Again... this fit my 2013 FJ Cruiser PERFECTLY and installed VERY easily! I started the project at 9am and was finished and cleaned up by 10:15am. Thank you Auto Dynasty and DNA Motoring. ... show more

  • Should NOT be allowed for sale by Amazon
Color: Black
I purchased this rack eventhough I had read negative reviews here and on other pages selling the same rack. One reviewer gave instructs on how to install properly so I felt a little more comfortable in the purchase. When it arrived in an abundance of caution I did not do it myself but took it to the leading truck 4x4 service shop in my area. They are experts on all things aftermarket. What should have cost one hour labor at most turned into three hours and still a poor fit. Eventhough I printed out the reviews instructions as well as instructions that came with the rack. The shop manager showed me very clearly that the rack is manufactured with incorrect specs. The front pods are toed inward. They spent three hours trying to modify the rack to seat properly. The best they could do is what is pictured. Was much worse before they bent it to fit better. At this point I'm not even sure if the fitment is going to allow rain to enter cabin, which is common when racks aren't properly bolted. So there is no way to return it so I have to live with it. If you car about your FJ Cruiser as much as I do please learn from my mistake and try to be patient and wait for a true OEM used rack appears for sale. Most likely thats what I'm going to do. ... show more

  • Great rack for our needs...
Color: Silver
November 2017 we bought the silver roof rack for our 2007 FJ because we had an upcoming road trip and needed more room in the cab. We didn't want to spend a fortune so this fit our price range. It was a pain to install, as others said the instructions are stupid. But my husband was able to get it done in maybe an hour and a half or so. One of the back corner bars got dented (unfortunately) with a rubber mallet getting the bars to fit in place in the back, so keep that in mind. It looks really good on our Silver FJ and it is sturdy! Right away we noticed that it was pretty noisy while driving, however I removed the top front bar which is super easy and it solved the problem, nice and quiet again!! So we will keep it off when we aren't using it. By the way all the middle bars are easily removable by hand and the top bar can be moved towards the front of the roof rack so you can put at least one kayak up there, i'm really not sure about 2 because we have yet to try anything other than luggage as of now. As far as luggage goes we were able to put a large suitcase, a big duffel bag, and a tent up there. I don't think we could have fit much more up there but that's all we needed. If you need a lot more room on top for gear or luggage, this rack might not work for you. I gave only 4 stars because the install was a pain and it got easily dented. But all in all it was worth the buy and i am glad we got it! It will be perfect for future camping trips! ... show more

  • FJ Cruiser roof rack
Color: Black
If you follow reviewer Georges installation guide, you won’t have a problem with this rack. It is the perfect install guide. Throw away the instructions and use his. I bought the Toyota OEM roof rack install kit and I highly recommend buying it here on Amazon. Made my install very easy with the OEM hardware. One thing I did do different. Before installing the T40 bolts, I put a few drops of Permatex black silicone sealant in each of the holes. Then after a week, I went back and made sure all the bolts were tight and they were. Then I applied the Permatex sealant to the top of the T40 bolts. Filing in the tops of the bolts with the sealant. Living in a rainy climate, I want to make sure it doesn’t leak into my headliner. As others have said, once you bolt the rack in place, it is solid and isn’t going anywhere. Also the plastic feet conforms very well to the roof once its been in the sun. Overall a great purchase. I highly recommend this rack. Looks great on my 07 FJ! ... show more
