Bought mainly for blocks of cheese. I like that that you can open and reseal often as you need. I previously used oversize FoodSaver bags and cut them a bit smaller and then resealed. I used the Chef Preserve day it came, after charging, for a block of parmesan, and some leftover shredded from dinner. I was concerned about how to seal the finely shredded to keep it from migrating to the sealing port, so I put the shredded cheese in a ziplock sandwich bag without sealing, and folded it in half and tucked in the CP bag next to the block of parm. The CP did remove all of the air from the inside bag. So much so that it seemed to UN shred the parmesan! When I went to use it the next day for dinner, it was compacted into a flat patty. I'm guessing that the shredded had warmed to room temp and the pressure from this sealer compacted it flat. I'm looking forward to trying it on fruits and veg that go bad quickly. This sealer will be perfect for freezing blueberries, that I can open and close as I need a small portion. I will keep my previous large sealer for freezing large items and meats and meals until I use up the bags or the sealer dies.

The bags are more substantial than Ziploc bags and at first my arthritic fingers had trouble closing them sufficiently. BUT THEN I discovered a tiny little tool in the box next to the charging cord. It's a little clip that you attach to one side of the zip and pinch lightly as you run it along the top. Voila ! Sealed tight easily. A good seal is necessary for the device to suck out all of the air. Just gently place the device on the round air valve and press the button. It will do its magic in seconds and shut itself off. This gadget was a happy find as I don't have space for a countertop machine. The bags are reusable and easy to rinse out and air dry. It's great for produce that stays fresh and crisp much longer. I reopen a sealed package, take out what I need and reseal. It will compress fluffy foods like drop biscuits, which we're still edible Initially

I’ve been using this compact vacuum sealer for a while now, and it’s turned into part of my regular kitchen routine. It’s quick to seal bags and easy enough that I don’t hesitate to pull it out, which says a lot compared to bulkier sealers I’ve owned. Food stored in the sealed bags does seem to last longer, and I’ve noticeably cut down on waste since using it. The reusable bags are a nice bonus and help offset some costs over time. It doesn’t pull as tight of a seal as my larger vacuum sealer, but for everyday food storage, that hasn’t been an issue. It feels solidly built, charges fast, and has earned its spot on my limited counter space. . Just got this. Love it. Now my lemons and limes and cucumbers and carrots and green peppers and spring onions and bacon and sausage patties won't get throw before I get around to using them. Why did I wait so long to order this. I have thrown out so much food.....it is embarassing. Super easy to use. Only complaint is the closure strip at the top of the bag that has to be securely closed before you start the seal process, is a little hard to use. Had to do multiple attempts to get the bags closed. But I suppose this will be easier with time and usage. I am sure I will get my money's worth out of this product. Love getting different bag sizes.

I’ve been using it quite a bit in the kitchen for the 3 days that I’ve had it. It works well and it’s nice how the bags are reusable. I have a large Food Saver unit which didn’t get used as much unless I had a larger amount of stuff to seal since it was large and awkward to get out and use. Also since the bags were single use you couldn’t get a portion out without wasting the bag and having to start over. This Chef Preserve is so small and conveniently within reach, I find myself using it more often. I’m pleased I made the investment.
