To ensure the size you choose is right, utilize our sizing chart and the following measurement instructions: For the sleeves, start at the center back of your neck and measure across the shoulder and down to the sleeve. If you come up with a partial number, round up to the next even number. For the chest, measure at the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and over the shoulder blades, keeping the tape measure firm and level.

This jacket is very lightweight and waterproof. Purchased in different color but loved the style and functionality. We purchased 2 different colors and tested under a waterfall and in the rain. You should layer if you are looking for extra warmth. This may be one of the best purchases ever.

I appreciate the longer length of this rain jacket. It covers my butt. I am 5'6" and 120 pounds with a small frame. I am happy I sized up to a medium. The jacket is very lightweight so I wanted room to wear a sweatshirt underneath. I think a small would have fit nicely but it would have been tight with a sweatshirt. I agree with other reviewers that the hood is a bit small. However, you can cinch the hood up. The design is a little different than most Columbia jackets so it took me a sec to realize I could cinch it. Just pull the cord and push the rubber piece up. The hood really isn't very functional unless you cinch it which is a bummer. If the hood were bigger I would have given the jacket 5 stars. I got this jacket on sale for about $50 which I think is worth it. I definitely wouldn't pay $100 for it. UPDATE I ended up returning the jacket because it is only water resistant according to Columbia's website. I'm not lowering my rating because it's still a good jacket but it is not actually waterproof.

I take a large. I ordered an XL in order to layer under it. The coat fits real tight under my arms. I would'nt be able to wear a sweater under it at all. The outer shell is real nice and the liner was great. To bad it ran so small.

THE BACK STORY: Needed a waterproof (not water-resistant) jacket for a Guernsey-Cornwall trip this summer. Lots of cliff walking and coastal hiking, with frequent rains and varying temps. STATS: I am 5'6", 130 lbs on a good day, usually a size 6 or small, but a Medium for jackets and layering over sweaters and such. MUST-HAVES INCLUDED: WATERPROOF: Had to be waterproof, not just water-resistant. In a lovely coincidence, it was raining here today (midwest US) when this was delivered. I took it for a 3-mile test walk. Score was 100% ! Water beaded up on the surface, and I was dry as a bone when I got home. Temperature this evening was 54 F, 13 C. FABRIC: Had to be soft, not crinkly or plastic-feeling. This jacket is buttery-soft and lightly lined in an equally soft, comfy fabric. POCKETS: Check this box, too. Two zippered, generously sized pockets. One held my (small) iPhone with plenty of room to spare. HOOD: This is the only place where this jacket isn't quite up to par. The hood is small - skimpy, really. And the brim that is so important to keep rain off of your face? Barely adequate. I'll probably wear a visor underneath the hood. The drawstring closure wasn't much help, because the hood is just too small. FIT: I ordered the M and the S. The small fit nicely, even layering over a bulky sweatshirt. SLEEVES & CUFFS: Length was perfect, Velcro closure, just right. LENGTH: Just what I wanted. Covers the butt, but doesn't hang down around the knees and interfere with walking. CUTENESS FACTOR: OK, nobody really cares...I'm hiking around on cliffs, 4,000 miles from home, and function is more important. But I might stop at a pub for a brandy on the way home, and I don't want to look ridiculous or touristy. With that in mind, I didn't get the pink...which is my favorite color. I bought the Twilight and it's just very nice. PACKABILITY: It doesn't do that roll-into-its-own-pocket trick, but that's OK. It will be in the small backpack while I'm walking and that's all I need. And I'm flying 8,000 miles solo, so luggage space is at a premium. This will be easy to carry on and off planes, trains and taxis. That's everything I can think of! Oh, and I was happy with the Columbia name, too. So many of the clothing items on Amazon are of questionable provenance.

Update 6/9/22 I had a chance to actually test out the waterproof quality. Well... It's mixed. I realize it's a light weight jacket. Light and misty rains it has zero problem. I got stuck in a downpour a couple of times walking the dog (springtime in the PNW). Not only did it get really hot in anything over 55°it did not keep me fully dry. I wasn't soaked. But if you are gonna be in frequent downpours it heavy steady find something else. It's definitely a very narrow range temp jacket. Not a deal breaker, it's a nice jacket but I was hoping to find that perfect combo of breathable and rainproof. Oh well. ********************** Got it, washed it, hung it dry. Wore it. I like the fit, it covers my hips and isn't so baggy and boxy like lots of plus size outerwear. It feels like a decent made piece. Zipper is smooth without catching. I do agree with those that call the lining cheap. I've had cheaper jackets lined with a nicer linings. The lining in that cheaper textured fuzzy stuff that picks up every piece of lint, pet hair and sticks to the velcro like flies on honey. I've only had it one day. Go figure. HOWEVER.... It doesn't feel weird and I like the jacket. While disappointing it's not a deal breaker. I have a heavy duty winter coat by Columbia and that's why I bought this one, I like the quality. I needed a decent light weight rain jacket. The price went up after I bought it. I'll update after I wear it in the rain. Of course I buy it and it stops raining. lol I live in the PNW so eventually it will tested.
