I kept looking for a heating pad for an existing cup but while there are lots of options, this one got my attention and it is perfect for my needs. I needed a cup with the right height, especially to fit in my Nespresso Pixie (I make an americano most days) and I love to slow sip. But I just hate it when my coffee gets cold. And yeah, I could stick it in the microwave but that's a hassle, and it just never tastes right after that. This keeps the coffee piping hot without boiling it or overdoing it, but never too hot, and not just luke warm, either. It has a little safety button on the bottom and relies on the weight of the cup to engage the heating element. The safety button sometimes requires you to add just a little extra pressure when setting down the cup, but once pressed it stays while the cup is on top. I now enjoy my coffee to the very last drop, always nice and hot. Very happy!

I've always wanted to try one of these and found myself lucky to find one with the gravity feature. I really appreciate having a device that's going to turn off automatically when there's not a full mug on top of it. However, I feel that this device would be best used with a different mug than the one that's provided in the package. The black and white mug in the photos is the one that comes with this device. It has a grooved bottom to it to better distribute the heat, I would suppose. In comparison, the blue nut mug next to it is the hand thrown mug that I regularly use for my coffee. Because it has a flat bottom, my blue mug really distributes the heat very well. Additionally, it is much heavier empty than the black and white mug. The device requires 450 grams of pressure in order to turn on and remain on. The empty black and white mug (provided) only weighs 316 grams. I found that approximately 1/2 cup of liquid was left in the mug by the time it reached that 450g mark. And for me, that's always the tricky time with my coffee anyway. I don't have a problem with my coffee being hot enough when my mug is totally full, it's when I'm getting down toward the last half of it. Typically, I've gotten distracted with one task or another or involved in a phone call, only to come back and find that the remainder of my coffee has grown cold. If you're using the mug that's included with the device, you're going to find that that is still the case, as it won't be heavy enough to remain on and keep that coffee hot. Therefore, you'd really need to have a mug that has a flat bottom or a similar bottom to the one that's included with the device but which is heavy enough on its own so that the liquid inside is going to remain hot. It's important to note that if you are drinking from a mug that has a foot to it, in other words it's not totally flat, it is not going to distribute the heat as well, and so your coffee may not remain as hot. Another thing to note is that when you remove your mug from the device, the bottom of it is going to be incredibly hot. Therefore, when I was done with my coffee, I didn't want to put the empty mug back onto that plate while it cooled down. It did necessitate that I have a coaster nearby on which to set the incredibly hot empty mug. Overall, I'm impressed with this and really happy to have it. I think with the right gear, this can be a really handy appliance to have on your desk, a bedside table, or on a coffee table. I'm also curious to see how it might work with a small teapot on top of it , as well as how it might work for heating massage oil, too. I'll update as I try these. Unless you're going to hot chug your hot beverage--in which case why in the world would you need this device--then I think you will have to have an appropriate mug of your own. Forget about the one included in this package, IMO. But with the right mug, and with a coaster trivet nearby for the hot, empty mug, I think that this device is a great find. Family members are already eyeing mine, so I'm certain these will find their way onto their Christmas wish list for their dorm rooms.

Most of the electric mug warmers seem to be misleading consumers. They don’t mention how long it takes to heat a cup of water. I just got Dimux mug warmer with ceramic cup. It looks okay, but seems to be taking an hour to heat a cup of water. After 50 min it has not made it hot enough to make coffee. Forget warming milk or other drinks. Avoid buying these, and Amazon should at least ensure the product information is including important information necessary to purchase such products, as all the information I’ve read about these products is misleading. No information about how long these mug warmers take to heat water or milk from cold state, and is not included on any of the products. What good is gravity button or temperature LED displays if you will not be able to warm it in 5-10 minutes? Time to heat from cold to hot temperature MUST be included in the product information.
