This auger is effective clearing drains ive had clogged around the house. Its also easy to use and made of good quality. It takes minimum effort when using, which is why im able to get the job done quickly. Its also light weight and give plenty to work with using the 25-foot cable, suitable for reaching deeper blockages. I think this item is ideal for home use. Thus far ive been able to use this for unclogging air conditioning condensate and sink drains.     • Dislodged blockage on 1st attemp -- unable to pass 3/4" PVC pipe elbow on subsequent attempts.
Cobra 84250 84000 Drum Auger, 1/4" x 25': used to dislodge blockage at or near int. HVAC condensate exit from unit orifice into 3/4" PVC drain line that was creating flooding rain in updraft plenum under the unit. Threaded spring coil cable with bulb auger thru (1) access cap Tee at vertical portion of drain line, (2) 17" horizontal run, and (3) 90-degree elbow rt turn, (4) 15" horizontal run to unit orifice. Successful on first attempt with 'virgin' cable. Not able to repeat during several tries. Blockage was removed and HVAC unit plenum 'rain' ended with int. unit operating normally again. Problem began with possible low coolant and four plus hour unit shutdown during 47>49% RH in mi casa creating ice problem in unit. ... show more

No instructions included, and you cannot extend nor retract the auger using the drum handle. Whatever mechanism is supposed to do this, is D.O.A.. You have to do it by manually feeding and then retracting the auger by hand. When you hit a clog, there is no way to get past it, as there would be, if the drum mechanism worked properly. This is a useless tool, and why there are no instructions, is beyond me. Cannot troubleshoot it, either. Got it yesterday, returning it today. Junk ... show more

    • Spinning retracting mechanism was broken on arrival but still works
The mechanism that you spin to release and retract it was DOA but it can still be used by simply manually pulling out the shaft. For that reason it is still usable and decided not to return.
