I now have a total of eight of these thermostats. Five of them for Mitsubishi heat pumps, mini splits, 1 for a Tosot-gree heat pump, mini split and two for conventional hot air and hot water baseboard. For the heat pump, mini splits, it was pretty much plug-and-play after following the directions. The hot air system with AC in my house would not work after following the wiring diagram. I called customer service and spoke with Jason and after a few pictures back-and-forth figured out that I did not have a C wire to my thermostat. Made one connection at the furnace and we were up and running. I find these thermostats, more user-friendly than the thermostats that we’re going to come with the Mitsubishi and tosot heat pump mini split units. The six thermostats that I have for my heat pump mini splits are 400 miles away and I have no problem controlling them with the app on my phone. ... show more

    • Easy alternative to the big brands with an awesome support team

Recently added some mini split heat pumps in my house that did not have wifi controllers, which lead me to stumbling upon the Cielo brand to control them using their other product. Since I didn't want to have multiple apps and preferred to keep everything together, I ditched my other smart thermostat and switched to this new one by Cielo. So far it has been great! My setup is very basic with a two wire oil system, so I'm not using any of the more complicated features, but it does the job. Setup worked perfect with an additional plug in adapter to add a C wire. No issues with wiring complaints like some of the other smart thermostats when you try to add a fake C wire. The only problems I've seen (across all of the Cielo products, including this one) is that they seem to be very new products, so there are a bunch of minor bugs here and there with the interface, scheduling, timing, etc, HOWEVER, their support team has been extremely responsive in assisting and have rolled out fixes very quickly. Still giving it five stars because of the support! If you have any issues don't hesitate to reach out to their support team. Finally, I feel like the interface of the app could be streamlined better to be more intuitive, there is quite a lot you can do and it can get confusing quickly mixing multiple devices and models, but most of it is just UI/UX and will get better with time. So I installed this thermostat and wasn’t getting anything on the display. I called in to their customer support and after waiting about 10 minutes, I was connected with a very knowledgeable person that had me up and running in less than 30 minutes after I sent a few pictures of my connection at the furnace and old thermostat. This is my third Cielo thermostat, two for my split heat pump system that I’ve used for quite a few years and this one now for my oil fired boiler system. I had to purchase a separate transformer since the system is heat-only with no c-wire, but it’s not a big deal. I did need to contact customer support on how to hook it up, but they were super-responsive and stepped me through everything, and even called back to check on my progress when I didn’t get back to them as quickly as I should have. We have a 20+ year old HVAC system that we wanted a wifi enabled thermostat for, convenience and what not. It was pretty easy to install, especially since the C-wire adapter is included and the price especially was right. Worked immediately with our AC system and both thermostat and app were user friendly. Fast forward, two months later the thermostat won’t even power on. We re-installed the 20+ year old thermostat and the system works. We bought a new, more expensive Honeywell and that worked immediately as well. Not sure what the issue is with the Cielo thermostat but we can rule out our old system as the problem. Unfortunately the return window has passed and we are out the $80+ after only 2 months. I already own two of their Cielo Breez Max devices, which I had installed for the mini split system in a different Floor. And already have a smart thermostat for the main HVAC unit. I did not like the idea of having two different Apps for controlling different units in my home. Thankfully there is one company that had products that can control both units using same App. Installing, connecting the device to app and configuration and the HVAC unit was a breeze. The device looks very similar to the Breeze Max. The touch screen is very responsive. And the App is by most intuitive product from the company. It’s better than the app for my previous smart thermostat. The Cielo linked feature is cool which allows linking mini splits and the HVAC. One suggestion for the company is to add temperature sensors to their product line that can be used in different rooms. ... show more

I bought these thermostats because of all the great reviews regarding the customer service at Cielo. I think this is one of those products where you need a little advice when hooking these up because everyone's wires are different. I phoned in once to ask a question about which wires connect to which holes. That call went quick and easily and the thermostat works great. Very easy setup. Then I had to call a second time to ask a question regarding logging into the app and again, they answered the phone quickly and answered my question quickly and professionally.
