As of this writing, I’ve had these stools for 18 months. I bought them to be easy to clean (5 kids, 8yo and under), to fit everybody, to adjust the height for smaller bodies (by swiveling), and because they can be used with multiple decorative styles. The pros —They are easy to clean! Theoretically I can take them outside and hose them down if I wanted to and let them dry in the sun. Multiple times a day I wipe them down with a Norwex cloth and I’ve also vacuumed them to get crumbs in cracks that a cloth can’t reach. —Customer service was great, sending me a new wood back/metal support because one of them stripped its way off the screws within the first year. I have 5 stools total and that one was the only one I have had this problem with. —The metal is truly heavy duty. This is no featherweight stool, which I see as a pro because it will outlast the wear & tear plus the periodic moving our family does due to career. It’s refreshing to have products that are wood and metal, hardware included, rather than dealing with plastic and glue! The cons —The wooden seat is not flush with the surrounding frame holding it, which means food can get caught. However, it’s not too hard to vacuum or stick a knife through the gap to get anything out, if necessary. I also imagine that I will hardly have this problem when my kids are older and make fewer messes. —The one quality comment I have is the wood used. I wish it were a stronger, harder wood. That said, I’ve only had one issue with this that needed correcting. I also could see easily staining or painting it because it’s raw (a pro) —Because these stools are so heavy duty, they can cause damage if tipped. It doesn’t happen often, but if and when it does (in my house, due to children’s misuse) it does make a loud bang. No injuries to report, however :). We also have hardwood floors and the feet can scratch these up. My first order arrived with one stool perfect condition, the second was split along the joint seam of the back rest. It has taken three separate shipments to replace the damaged one. The last one received, looked to be in great shape until I put it together and placed it along side the first one. The back piece is not quite level, the placement where it is screwed into the metal plate is a bit wonky. A bit disappointing after the bother of unpacking, repacking and waiting for the shipments. All said, I've decided to keep it, despite the flaws. So, here are my observations, if they will help with your own decision to order: I am a 66 year old female, fairly capable with power tools and have experience with various projects, both metal and wood. I'm small; 5'1", weigh around 115 and in good shape, as far as weight lifting, etc...just to give you some perspective. The stools are well packaged, easy to unpack, without a lot of landfill fillers. They are made from a heavy gage steel and the welding is done professionally, although not to American craftsman standards. They have been smoothed but still a bit rough and "rustic" looking. Spot welding is used primarily around the joints of the bottom area that connects the legs together. It all appears to be secure and should last. It took longer to unpack than to put together. Four bolts connects the chair back to the seat. Everything else comes assembled. The biggest issue I've had is with the quality of the wood utilized in construction. It appears to be a fast growing pine or other soft wood, wide grain, knots and quite rough. The seat and back are pieced together, not one solid piece of wood. The back is made of 3 inch wide pieces of wood that are joined and steamed into a curve. The two lengths of these joined pieces varies with each stool. One stool has a bottom piece that is 3 inches wide and the length is 15 inches, then another 2 inch piece is joined to it. The second piece of 3" wood that is joined to the bottom has three lengths glued together. Each stool is individual, as far as how many pieces of wood have been joined. This is where I've experienced the splits that required returning them. Each time the split was on the end curve section of the back. I suppose a person could glue and clamp the splits but I didn't want to take the time to it. I did take the time to sand and varnish the seat and back. The finish that is supplied appears to be a mineral oil rub. I think that may contribute to the dryness and splitting. I've sealed with four coats of satin polyurethane and it feels smooth and doesn't catch clothing. I'm hopeful that the sealant will also help with any future splits. I do like the stools very much. They are perfect for my "industrial" repurposed decor, comfortable to sit on and the swivel mechanism moves smoothly. It's also nice to have the back for support while sitting on the stools.

I love the stools, but had an issue with one of the stools. One had a ding in the back of the chair and was missing the assemble kit. The top piece of styrofoam in the box was also gone and looked as if it was a returned item. The other 3 stools were perfect. Luckily, the other stools came with an extra nut to assemble the back to the stool, and I only had to purchase one nut. When contacting customer service when I just assembled the stool, I was told my gift card would be credited and I would have to purchase a new stool, rather than sending the missing and damaged part. The next day when I wasn't credited, I chatted with customer service. I was then told I had to take apart the chair and send everything back. Customer service was horrible because if I said I was unhappy, I was only passed to another person.

This are like a perfect pair of jeans that fit perfect and that you can dress up or dress down! They work well in my new renovated kitchen area—will be getting two more to add to our new peninsula! The stools are solid and the wood color is beautiful. It’s great that you can raise the height, but beware that they’re pretty high and I have them on the lowest height as seen on pic. Love them!
