  • Great deck canopy--Very sturdy after several months
I waited to review this canopy because I wanted to see how well it would hold up. I was worried about the issue others have had about the canopy top sagging in the rain. So far we have had many regular rains & a few hard rains, and the canopy has held up fine. The canvas is taught, and rain slides right off. I figure if/when the sagging does become an issue in the future, we will either 1) try to order a replacement canopy, or 2) get clear plexiglass panels & to put between the frame and the canopy to hold it taught in the problem areas. But for now, no problems at all. Also, I was happy to find that this canopy was very easy to set up. My husband and I did it by ourselves in an afternoon, with just a step ladder and basic tools. The trick is to not tighten anything until you are done with the whole step, then go back and tighten everything at once. Then we screwed it directly into the floor of the deck at the base of all 4 corners. It is extremely secure. We will probably leave the frame up year round, and just take down the canvas in the fall & put it back on in the spring each year. One other point, about the side panels-- I found that I don't like the heavier outer panels, and we never used them, so I took them down. I'm actually not really sure when you would want to use them. My sense is that in high winds, zipping those panels up could end up breaking the whole frame. And they're not good for shade because they don't let any breeze through. So I just took them off the other day & the only thing I miss is the hundreds of earwigs that used to live in them (jk). The mosquito netting is great though! I keep it tied back with ribbons when not in use. And I also got some outdoor curtains that are really cute & block the sun nicely, while also being super adjustable and letting a lot more breeze through than the other panels would have. So if I were to do it over again, I would not even put the side panels on in the first place. Overall, I LOVE being out there under this canopy. The shade is great, and it creates a really nice 'living room' feeling. It is especially valuable to me with the ongoing quarantine situation. But I also can't WAIT to have people over and enjoy this lovely space with others!! Next year I guess--fingers crossed. ... show more

  • Exceeds Expectations ~ High Quality Materials ~ Look No Further You found best deal
Delightfully surprised with quality material and workmanship you can't find on others that cost more than double. This gazebo meets and exceeds our needs. Love the Heavy-duty steel corner posts, durable strong heavy-weight wide steel posts withstand the elements. Heavy steel, no need to dis-assemble it off season, just remove fabric top, privacy curtains and mosquito net curtains. The fabric is a tight knit denier, the type that keeps wind / water out. Like fact that there's two separate curtain rods one for privacy curtains the other for the mosquito netting curtains and that each has it,s own full length separating zipper on every side for easy access and to open and tie back with attached straps. We like leaving the wind privacy curtain closed on one side to block wind off the bay when it's chilly we can still enjoy the outdoors and/or our food stays warm when we eat. We searched extensively for a gazebo and are so satisfied with our choice. Exceeds expectation, you won't find better quality for double the price and if you do, it won't have two separate sets of curtains, privacy a d mosquito. Posts won't be heavy wide durable steel. I have no clue what some reviewers received but out curtains were all as e lengthy, extended full lengthy, top of rails to ground. Curtains open and close very smoothly, like a shower curtain does, zippers (all eight) open close perfectly. No issues with rain pooling on top or top sagging, we're assuming those with that type of issue did not assemble square / correct or they got an irregular cut / sewn fabric. We lucked out, ours is square, is a beautiful welcomed addition to our yard. Very pleased with gazebo recommend to all seeking backyard gazebo but not to a weekend camper, it's an overkill for camping, is very heavy and takes one person about 4 hours to assemble. If you assembled multiples, second one would probably take w person 2 hours . Had small issue with missing / damage but Amazon Customer Service resolved near immediate when I phoned. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again if need arrose and highly recommend to all in the market you won't be disappointed. Thanks Amazon, we love it! ... show more

  • Not a rain shelter!
I haven't had the pooling from rain like other comments, but this is only the first rain since it's been installed so I am expecting the same result as others have had. I had the same problem with the $100 Aldi version, so dump the water out, insert the Venetian slats or use the pool tubes as others have suggested. My biggest complaint is IT'S NOT EVEN WATERPROOF! You can't sit under it in the rain and just enjoy a summer rain because the top canvas just leaks like a sieve. A complaint I did not have with the Aldi one (in use for 7 years before the frame finally weakened and collapsed). I will be spraying this canvas top with a rainguard as soon as it's dry enough to do so. I will be replacing the canvas with the style I used for my old one (much stronger, left up in the Michigan winter, used all season, yes eventually it weakened and fell apart and was replaced for $30). TOP SCORE - for the rest of this design, it is very sturdy. The double rail system for the screens and curtains is brilliant. The Velcro tie-backs are good, the hooks to hang the sides are easy to use. Putting it together, there were two of us, it was tricky but we did it in sections and had it up and using it within a couple hours on a Saturday. ... show more
