Description

Intelligently designed thanks to pressure-mapping technology, the Therm-a-Rest LuxuryMap Self-Inflating Foam Camping Mattress with TwinLock Valve delivers comfort in all the right places. The thoughtfully-designed 3-inch sleeping pad is made to deliver the right support exactly where it's needed. With a 6 R-value, the LuxuryMap is well-suited for camping in any season or condition (R-value measures the material’s ability to insulate; the higher the R-value, the warmer the sleeping pad). The expandable foam core will self-inflate once the valve opens. Equipped with an easy and convenient TwinLock valve, the sleeping pad has dedicated "in" and "out" valves to make inflating and deflating the pad easier than ever. The LuxuryMap sleeping pad also includes a stuff sack to protect the pad when it's packed down. Available in three sizes: Regular measures 72x20x3 inches inflated, 21x9.5 inches rolled, and weighs 3.25 pounds; Large measures 77x25x3 inches inflated, 26x9.5 inches rolled, and weighs 4.19 pounds; X-Large measures 77x30x3 inches inflated, 31x10 inches rolled, and weighs 5.13 pounds. Manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty.

  • Great product
Size: X-Large
This company has been around for a looooonnnnggggg time. I know because I have one of their original self inflating mats from the early 1970's, bought by my grandparents for our timberline backpacking trips in the Rockies. While it hasn't been on any backpacking trips in the last 30 years, it has been on numerous truck trips - used in the back of my SUV for padding. It worked in the 1970s and it still works now. Since the day this pad was bought, I've never had a problem (leak, valve, or anything else). Flash forward a few decades ... Much older and in need of a little more padding now-a-days. :) I wanted to purchase two new, thicker pads for tent camping forays into the mid-western desert. I shopped for pads for quite a few days, looking all through Amazon and Google. I decided to try a different 3" pad, not realizing that Therm-A-Rest was even still in business. Big mistake. Big, BIG mistake! :( I ordered two Wellax 3" pads. Upon receipt, after letting it inflate for 24 hours, one seemed to inflate ok, although not to the advertised 3". More like 2-2 1/2". The other never, even after letting it sit for three days, inflated to more than MAYBE 2". I examined both pads and figured out that the latter would NEVER inflate to anything more than it had (even if you blew into it) because the covering was cut too small, crushing the internal foam down and preventing inflation. Ordered a replacement for the latter obviously defective pad. Replacement arrived a few days later. After repeating the above process, the replacement pad was even WORSE. This one only made it up to 2" in some spots and less in most. Outer material obviously cut too small. No matter how much air I attempted to blow into any of the three, NONE of them ever got to 3" or looked anything like their pictures in the ad. The final straw was when I figured out that the original almost working pad actually leaked. Stunning. Three out of three loose. Welcome to the world of Chinese shill/shell companies hawking defective garbage in the US while pretending to be US companies, usually either lying about where their products are made or refusing to say. AND thank you Amazon for looking the other way while your platform becomes nothing but a sewer of China trash. Stumbling through Amazon for replacements, I discovered Therm-A-Rest was still in business and selling self-inflating pads. I'm hoping that these new Therm-A-Rest pads are the same quality and work as well and last as long as my original pad. Camping gear is not disposable, its an investment and should last for many, many years. Therm-A-Rest pads are still made in the US. I pulled out my 'vintage' :) pad and compared it to the new pad and other than the valves they're virtually identical. The 3" version DEFINITELY has a lot more support than my much thinner backpacking version, which is to be expected from one that is 2x the thickness. I'll update this review if something comes up. The Therm-A-Rest pads are almost 2x the cost of the "competing" Chinese versions. For those shopping for a self-inflating pad - consider long and hard before before deciding to save a buck on a cheaper pad. I read hundreds or reviews - obviously fake or from people who had not actually USED the product yet (or more than once) - and there are way more problems with the Wellax and Wellax relabeled pads than the reviews genuinely reflect. I've been stuck miles into the back country with crap gear - saving a couple bucks IS NOT WORTH the frustration and lost sleep. AND if that pad lasts just outside the return window you'll end up paying the same amount anyway. ... show more

  • IT IS BIG
Size: X-Large
Perfect for laying out on rocky beaches and yoga. Carrying bag included. Car camping I think great. Backpacking I’ll use it and get weird looks because frankly, this is a mammoth sized air mattress. I don’t care. I’ll sleep great.

  • High quality soft not firm
Size: X-Large
If you are looking for firm. Look elsewhere like the Cabela’s $90 or 120-130$ branded ones. This is soft and comfy. Not as soft as the mondo king. So if you don’t want to sink to deep this is a good one. If you need extra soft go for the mondo or if you are car camping mondo. This is definitely more for hiking and camping for the travel size and packing. I still bought this and a mondo because I like to stack them for extra comfort. And god forbid if one pops while I’m camping I have a back up in the middle of car camping no where. ... show more

  • No pump sack or repair kit..
Size: X-Large
For this price.. you’d expect a tiny patch kit and a pump sack. Even if this is very comfortable.. I can’t give more than 3 stars for not including basics.

  • Bulky but worth it
Size: X-Large
I go canoe camping down rivers every year for 10 years now and never new what good sleep was like until now. This pad is the king of tent camping with the only draw back being the size. I did find unlike other self inflating pads that this one requires a fair amount of your own breath to fully inflate. Overall I would highly suggest to anyone that likes the comforts of a bed while camping. ... show more

  • Product defects are prevalent
Size: X-Large
I bought my first thermarest camp mattress back in the 80's and it was of excellent quality and lasted for years so when looking for a new camp mattress, thermarest came to mind. To make a long story short, I bought the mattress and slept on it regularly for about 3 months before this large blister appeared, the mattress skin or cover had separated from the foam. I called cascade designs, the makers of thermarest, talked to one of their customer service representatives, Jeff, who initiated the replacement process. After a one month wait I received the new luxury map and slept on it less than 2 months and the mattress developed the same blister as the first. I called cascade designs to get a refund, we're talking almost $200 for a product I now had lost faith in. I was told by one of their customer service representatives that all they could do is replace the item, a refund would have to come from Amazon since I bought the product from them. I then contacted Amazon who agreed to refund my money. $200 is much to much to spend on this product, you would do better spending your money elsewhere. As a longtime customer I was willing to give cascade designs/thermarest the benefit of the doubt, but after receiving two mattresses that failed in rapid succession my mind changed completely. This product is defective, consumer beware. ... show more
