I got this for a window display fir my Christmas decorations. There are 2 of the displays. It requires some assembly as it is made up of a small, center/base where the set of rods are connected. It took less than 5 minutes to snap the rods into the circular center. It also requires 4 AA batteries, so a total of 8 are required for the 2 sets. There are 8 modes in the remote control, and a timer for up to 8 hours. The display is really bright, the colors are sharp and visible from a distance. I could see my display from the road. The only issue I have is that the batteries runout quickly. I set it up a week before Christmas and by the 29th, 4 Duracell AA batteries had died in the 2 displays. When you turn it on goes back out within 5 minutes. Remote has to be right next to turn on button to work. What's the point of a remote?

We bought these for our front fence. I am sure the description stated they are stand alone and I was just drawn in by the lights. Luckily we are able to accommodate with extension cords- and they are gorgeous! I also love that they are different than the other lights on the block.

Over- all pros- these lights are bright and offer a warm, festive feeling. Cons- they do not fall as nicely as the pictures advertised and sag unless you have multiple stays for them or are wieghted down to form the triangle part. The other thing is the lights plugs are not connectible if you are using more than one set of lights- and therefore require two plug outlets- which is less convenient and esthetically pleasing. If you don't mind these issues, they are fine- just need to manage expectations. ... show more

I think they are really cool! I actually purchased more after receiving the first package. You just need to be careful when putting them on. They are delicate. They can not be pushed on too hard. They are bright and last a while being battery operated.
