Like the other expanding lanterns EverBrite makes, these are really great quality, super cute, made of thick, sturdy plastic, with bright inner lights that last a long time on a charge. I love the Halloween ones and it's nice to see these Christmas versions. Unlike the Halloween ones these don't have molded hooks, they have lanyards, which I think is much more useful. They're a little too heavy to hang on a Xmas tree but still cute as decor. They slide open smoothly and stay open or closed no problem. They come with fresh batteries installed. I use Eneloop batteries with mine and they work great, lasting for hours and hours on a single set of 3 AAA. Every time you open and close it, it changes the color from white to red to green to blue to a rainbow cycle then back to white. BUT if you leave it closed again for ~10 seconds, it "resets" the color cycle, going back to white. You don't have to cycle through every color every time to get back to white.

8th of January, 2026 - Fresh out of the box initial review. Well packed, seemingly solid pieces. The pop top on/off switch feels good, that is, not loose or rattling with enough stiffness to hold open. The lights are very bright and the lanterns look great switched on. If I can, I'll come back in a year or two and give an update.

These adorable lanterns were the perfect addition to the kids stockings. They have used them every night to read books in bed. They are incredibly durable- even surviving a couple of dives from the top bunk! The brightness is surprisingly easy to adjust. We have had to replace the batteries already, but they came with were no name batteries so it’s not shocking.

I was disappointed that one Christmas Tree Lantern from the 3 pack was defective. The lantern would not turn off properly… the only way to turn off the lantern was slamming the top of lantern down really hard. The slightest movement of this lantern when closed shut would also turn on the lantern light which was very annoying and would drain the batteries! (Lantern must contain a defective ON/OFF switch!) The tree lanterns are very cute and kids really love these personal lanterns…especially the 5-light mode. Thank goodness I was able to gift the other two Christmas tree lanterns from one of the 3 boxes of Everbrite Christmas Lanterns I purchased this holiday season for family members! (8 out of 9 lanterns functioned perfectly… one lantern was defective!) A replacement Christmas tree lantern would be greatly appreciated or a refund for the defective lantern would be satisfactory, too!
