I had seen similar shades in hotels that I had stayed in and they made the room very dark, so I just had to have them in my house. So, I ordered these blinds. I was looking for something that makes my bedroom pretty dark without sacrificing the ability to open the window or get a good view. I ordered based of their measuring instructions and they were a pretty good fit. I went with the inside mount over the outside mount with the understanding that there would be a gap on both sides. I purchased the tracks, separately, to help with the gaps. They do look nice and you can get them in a few different colors and they are easy to raise and lower so I can let light in during the day if I want. It also allows my to view my pond outback too. I still have light coming from the top, bottom and both sides. I will admit, that it is darker than the faux wood blinds that I had before, but not where I expected it to be, especially after putting a track on all sides of the blinds. My next option is to go with a heavier wrap around curtain to maybe catch some of the residual light that is getting in. This product is ok, but not as good as I had hoped, especially for the money. If you are looking for total darkness, you may have to use these shades in conjunction with some other items. ... show more

Like other say, it does stay in place and not unroll. The only issue i have is I can't get one bigger than 70" wide! Total black out, no faint light coming thru like some manufacturer's stuff. We'll see how it holds up over time, but so far, well worth the money. Only complaint is the chain. While I am OK with it being as short as it is, some may prefer longer. Also it is close to the edge of the screen, so there is that in the way, when you want to grab it - and the aluminum bottom rod which has to come past it too. The included plastic tie down is super heavy duty - should never break - but it's use is a bit dubious. It make the chain which hangs front to back, have to go thru left to right, so you have to twist the chain 90 degrees. Well, the chain is pretty stiff, so the bend radius is substantial - which means you have to space is off the edge of the screen, or else it rides over the screen. This makes the chain come off at an angle - which is not particularly attractive. Personally i ditched it and just let the chain hang - but i have no kids to worry about. ... show more

Worked well in our camper trailer. Only complaint is that chain is not adjustable for length. It comes pretty long when only using for a short window. Cut chain and added a connector but they do not go through the roller. Still worked for my situation since I only needed it to roll down 24in so was able to position the connector were it would still work with the shorter chain and not go through the roller. Bought one to try it out. Loved it and bought for four other windows. Well built and fairly easy install. The instructions don't include the correct placement of the brackets for the length. However, a little measuring worked, combined with the adjusting slots on the brackets. They do a good job controlling the light and heat from the sun. Followed the directions for measurement and it fit perfectly. Looks great and easy to install. One hint. i wanted a valance and they were all expensive, some more than the shade cost! I went to Lowes, bought a 1/4 piece of wood 4 inches by 4 feet, sprayed it white to match the shade, and used velcro to hang it. Cost $15 for paint and wood and looks great! ... show more

Nice shade, appears to be good quality but had return due to sizing issue. Nice assembly but does not mount like standard shade and we weren't able to get new hardware and mount to fit our window

The blackout does its job perfectly. Just be careful when handling it as it peels easily. In any case, it has a good finish and looks fine. I don't know why they came two in a box. I understood that it was only one.

This was purchased to replace a shade that I had in an outdoor pool bath. The instructions were accurate and installation was super easy. Be sure to double check your measurements before purchasing this shade however. There isn't a lot of leeway for the width if mounting inside the window frame. If you are mounting this outside of the frame, then no problems at all. Once installed, operation was smooth and easy. The shade stays where you put it, it don't creep down like the previous one I had. Hopefully over time this will remain the case. The color of the shade was spot on and the photos shown were extremely accurate. As I replace the other shades in my home, I will most likely be buying these. Good value for the price! ... show more
