The pen is a smooooth writer. It's an absolutely cathartic feeling for me when writing. The deep green my pen came in is gorgeous. The quality and fit and finish are superb. The pen is a nice weight, but is not too heavy. Opening and closing the pen feels incredibly satisfying. Closing the pen has this nice meaty feeling that I absolutely love. Now, this review would be five stars but the handling of the package was awful. When I opened the package, I heard loose contents inside. Which would not be a bad thing, because the pen comes with two free cartridges. But, the seal was broken, and a cartridge was already loaded in the pen. This caused some ink to leak inside the box. Not to mention, my pen was also not securely held down in its box. Which leads me to worry whether or not this pen is actually new (the broken seal, and the pen being moved from its expected position). I'd still buy this pen again, but hope that the next package would be in better shape. ... show more

This Scriveiner Fountain Pen has a metal body with British Racing Green enamel paint. It is appropriate they chose British Racing Green for it, because this pen looks and feels like a luxury car of pens. The lines and details of it along with the smooth shiny enamel paint job put you in that mind set of using something luxurious. Not only does it look good, its fit and finish is great, and it operates beautifully as well. I can't find any manufacturing defects and nothing is loose or misaligned. The operation of the parts is smooth. The cap snaps on and off, but with a smooth glide as it goes on, with a satisfying snap at the end when you know it is snapped on. The cap posts and gets a good pressure fit on the back. It doesn't click into place there, but it securely grips the body and won't fall off. It comes with a converter and two ink cartridges. I didn't test the cartridges, but went straight to the converter. It seats in the pen well and doesn't leak. I got this pen with the medium nib. The nib is so smooth it is like writing on oiled glass. There is very little feedback, even on lower quality paper. I didn't have any higher quality paper on hand, but I can imagine that this will feel even glassier on something like Rodia paper. I dare say it doesn't write with enough feedback. I had no problems with it hard starring, skipping, or stopping. A simple but sturdy and good looking presentation box protects the pen. It would make for a great gift for a pen lover. Based on the quality, style, and functioning of the pen I would expect to pay in the $70+ range for this pen, but it is currently at a reasonable $45.99, making this an outstanding pen to add to your collection. ... show more
