Used this GX50 to build a brushcutter. Have put a couple dozen hours on it. Works perfect. Fires up on first pull Everytime. I'm reading some of the other reviews and don't get it. Packaged super nice with more than enough bubble wrap. If air dropped in with no parachute, it still would have arrived just fine.     • Seems to use a lot of oil
The motor always starts on the first or second pull of the starter rope and runs well. It may be common with small 4 stroke engines but it develops lower rpm than a similar 2 stroke at full throttle. The most noticable issue is that it uses a considerable amount of oil. It is necessary to add oil before every use. If I had not noticed this from the beginning, I believe the engine could run out of oil and be damaged. If this is normal for this engine, I think the manufacturer should at least put a warning on the engine to check oil before every use. ... show more

Of 3 Chikura engines bought since May '23, 2 are defective & failed, 1 leaks oil profusely, 2nd overheats & misfires <30 minutes initial operating time! Avoid! Don't waste your $$

    • while not exactly a gx50 the engine is a very high quality big bore gx35!
iron sleeve, big bore, big intake and carb, this engien is essentially a gx35 with increased power and reliability. for repair use gx35 parts, but a bigger 40mm piston, gx50 parts will not fit
