It does work, it looks fine, but when it gets jiggled around it makes sounds you don't want to hear coming from anything electrical and the plug that goes into it comes out really easily so you hear them a lot. I don't think it's safe to use so I'll be getting a new one (that actually *is* a HP part) and tossing this one. ... show more

The adapter arrived fast and was well packaged. It appears to be exactly like the one HP provided me with when I purchased the laptop. It worked very well ... for 3 days, then it overheated and ceased to work. Perhaps this sort of failure is why HP discontinued this adapter. The seller did everything in an exemplary way. The adapter I received just didn't have the quality. Really, this three stars are more for the seller than the adapter. ... show more

I ordered this cord for my mother's laptop and it was exactly like the picture. I've only plugged it into my my laptop so far but it worked. It is the actual HP power adapter in its entirety and its less in cost and hassle than getting it from HP ($65 + S&H).

    • Over heating
I bought this in may 2019, it is now Jan 2020 and it is over heating my computer. Worked fine until a couple of weeks ago, the computer gets so hot it shuts its self off.
