Just got this Calchele chicken cone. We have been raising and processing our own meat birds. With the next batch on its way, I am constantly searching for ways to make the process less labor-intensive. This cone caught my eye for a couple of reasons. I wanted a cone that was easy to clean and store. This cone meets these requirements. Additionally, the funnel shaped design and size looks like it will securely and humanely hold a chicken. The hole at the bottom appears to be adequate in size. A unique feature I have never seen before is the arch cut out at the front bottom. At first sight, I was impressed with the thickness and appearance of the metal pieces. The paint was so clean and smooth. It is listed as being made from stainless steel and appears to be powder coated. Hoping this will make it much easier to clean than the unpainted cones. Since the cone will only be used a few times a year, I wanted something that wouldn’t be so bulky and take up a lot of room during storage. While this will take extra time for assembly and disassembly, the individual pieces will be easier to submerge in and scrub with soapy water. It took less than 10 minutes to put together. The cone does come with the hardware required for assembly, including an extra nut and bolt. It also included two flat wrenches for those not having tools available. The wrenches will get you by in a pinch. I found using my 10 mm wrench and nut driver to be much quicker. Disassembly was done in less than 5 minutes by adding a cordless drill to the mix. I haven’t used it yet, but it looks like this cone will securely and humanely hold a chicken in place. It meets my easy to clean and store requirements. Happy it fits perfectly with my current dispatching station set up. I pride myself on humanely raising my chickens with love. This sturdy well-built cone will help continue this tradition on our next processing day.

In the past when we have had to cull a chicken, we have used a homemade cone, and this seems like something that will last a lot longer and I wanted something that you could mount easily like you can with this one. The metal is powder coated and is heavier than I was expecting which should keep it from rusting or getting misshapen easily. Although it comes with two little wrenches for tightening the nuts/bolts I would highly recommend having a socket wrench available as using the ones it came with was very time consuming. Assembly was frustrating with the included tools which is why I took off one star.

Assembly is straightforward, just a matter of tightening the included screws, and it can be disassembled just as easily for storage. If you have ever tried to process a chicken you know it can be a difficult task. This chicken processing station will simplify things for sure! It's made of some really heavy duty metal. The nuts on the screws are nylon nuts, so no lock tight needed, which is nice. It took me only about 10 minutes to assemble it. I'd suggest not using the included wrenches, assembly will take much longer, but it's nice that they included them for people that don't have tools. I used a ratchet and a long 10mm socket and a 10mm box end wrench and assembly was a breeze.
