This is a very sharp knife, everyone always uses paper to test the sharpness of new blades, and this just slides through paper like butter just as you would imagine. No Ripping, this knife cuts through bread just as easy without deforming the loaf. It doesn't care what kind of food item I'm cutting, from meats and veggies, to breads and cheeses, this blade slices and dices with zero effort. I really dig the ebony handle, its shaped just how i like it. It fits comfortably in my hand. It is recommended in the "Instructions" that you handwash the blade after every use along with a few other suggestions for maintenance and blade care. The knife does clean up very easily, and I keep it stored away safely from children. It has a plastic bump stopper for the tip of the blade and has a cardstock insert to keep the blade covered while it is stored in the box. The Laser engraving doesn't look bad or anything but I do think it is a bit tacky to engrave a Damascus design into it. There should be like a Feng Shui design law against it. The only thing that should look like Damascus Steel IS Damascus steel. It doesn't hurt the blade or hamper the function at all. Its a question of taste, and it is the only thing I don't like about this knife. Literally everything else is awesome.

What a great chef's knife! As advertised, it is quite sharp. It's larger than what I was expecting. The sharpened part of the blade is 8" long, with the metal extending further into the handle. The overall length of the knife is 13.5". The blade is slightly too long to fit into my knife block. Fortunately, the set includes a sturdy box, cardboard sheath and tip protector. I can store it in the box, when not in use, until I get another knife block. The Plys chef's knife cuts easily through a dense head of cabbage and slices steak like a dream. It would be perfect for a large brisket. I love the laser etched design on the side of the blade as well as the inlay on the rivet. Hand wash (carefully!) to preserve the beauty and sharpness. I found that I had to be extra cautious during use, because it is larger than the other knives I own. It will take a bit of getting used to, but I like the knife. I recommend this if you are looking for a large, gorgeous kitchen knife.

This is a full tang and pleasantly weighty knife. It’s a pleasure to look at and cut with and the blade has remained sharp with regular honing, suggesting the steel is of superior quality. It’s a regular use tool in my kitchen.

This knife works very well. It is sharp and cuts through stacked sandwiches over 2 inches in height. I think this will last for a long time since I’ve been using it for the past 3 weeks and it doesn’t show any signs of dullness. The handle is comfortable to use the knife. I would recommend this to a friend.

The handle is beatiful wood, well finished, and the surface is smooth to the grip. There is no 'guard' between the handle and the blade, it just transitions smoothly to the blade, so you have to watch your grip. I love the patterning on the blade. And the way it cuts, too! This would make a nice gift. It comes in a box, which is wasted on me, since it will go into a knife block or a drawer in my kitchen. This is hand washable only, no dishwasher. That is true of any good knife.
