  • Awesome Grill, just ignore how they ship it to you.
Style: Wook Shelf
I had shopped for a grill for a while so suffice to say that I really wanted this one. It is small enough to fit on an apartment balcony but not so small that you only have grill space for one burger and two hot dogs. There is plenty of space to cook a steak, several burgers, a few kabobs, and two corn cobs all at once. It is made of good quality, heavy gauge steel and the overall design is sound and sturdy. A top notch grill for the balcony cook out. The construction was fairly easy but the instructions were very vague so some building know-how & prior planning will be essential. The only downside to the order was that it arrived in less than pristine condition. It had been shipped in its original box - without any extra packing - from the manufacturer. I'm sure it wasn't Amazon's or UPS' fault, but the package was quite beat up and looked like it had been opened and resealed. Some of that damage was translated to the grill within. The grill body has some minor dents that I was able to remedy with a pair of pliers and some muscle. The wood shelves also has some gouges on their surfaces. All of this relatively trivial and didn't make the grill any less capable of cooking quality meals. Overall, this is a high quality grill well worth the money. I expect to be using this for many years to come. ... show more

  • I love it! It is a smoker
Style: Wook Shelf
Okay, 5 stars for a DIY person. 4 stars for needing a few mods off the shelf. I love it! It is a smoker, so meats tend to be infused with a smokey flavor with little to no effort. If that is your thing great. If not, maybe you should leave the lid up. :-) There are three modifications that I suggest are pretty much essential to getting the most out of your Wrangler grill. These are not original with me. I found some suggestions here in the reviews and also on some YouTube videos. 1. Replace the wheels with heavy duty wheels. You will also need to get some plastic tubing to use for spacers for the wheels. The wheels that come with the grill are just plastic. I have to wheel my grill back and forth every time I use it, so I wanted sturdier wheels that don't wobble at all. (Check Amazon or Harbor Freight for inexpensive wheels). 2. Get a roll of gasket tape for the grill to seal the sides - keeping heat and smoke inside the grill. I got Lavalock High Temp Nomex BBQ HT gasket smoker seal, self stick grey and it works fine. 3. Brace the side shelf (the front shelf is already braced) so that the grill is more stable when rolling it back and forth. I used 1" x 3" red oak boards to more firmly attach the shelf to the grill. It works great now! Very stable. I ended up painting the boards black, so you can't even tell what they are. I would have preferred leaving them the natural oak color, but ended up spraying them by accident at first. Also, the following are necessities, not modifications. Get a grill cover if you intend to keep your grill outside in the elements. It will rust. And for prevention and treatment of rust, get a can of high temperature black Rustoleum. They have the next size larger on display at Lowes. I got the Wrangler because I wanted a smaller surface area. And it weighs about 15 pounds less. I tend to cook a bunch of stuff at one time, so I could have gotten the next size up. The Wrangler is perfect for normal cooking for 1-4 people. The actual cooking experience is great, but it is taking me time to get used to the grill. It's been about 10 years since I've grilled. I used to have a beautiful chiminea grill with a small, round grilling surface. But, boy, was that great for grilling! :-) As mentioned, this is a smoker so the food tends to have a smokey flavor. Plus it is easy to overcook the food. I'm not used to cooking with a cover down. But I practice, and hope that I won't have to eat too many of my mistakes. Normally I do lamb, steak, chicken, turkey, veggies, and occasionally fish. But not burgers and wienies. Bon appetit! An addendum. 3/17/17 It keeps getting better and better! I broke my upgraded wheels, so I had to get better wheels with steel hubs. The original axle was too short, so I had to get a new axle. Instead of drilling holes in the steel rod for cotter pins, I got shaft collars to hold the wheels on. A better solution as it turns out. Anyway, here's a review of what I used. https://www.amazon.com/review/R16U11OLSFSEZO/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv ... show more

  • Nice Grill
Style: Wook Shelf
Got this grill a few weeks past, finally got it put together. We did not have a problem with the assembly but we took our time and read the directions. There are some quirky aspects to the assembly.... Go step by step through the manual.... note where the holes are.... when putting together the lower cart make sure the holes when you stand the two sides up are facing upward. DO NOT tighten bolts until you are done with each section. If you take your time the assembly is not bad. I also did not have a problem with the grill being dented on arrival. I can see how that can happen as the grill is not well protected in the shipping box. Again we did not have an issue but I can see why many are complaining about dents. This grill does have cast iron grates that do need to be seasoned before use. I was unaware of this but not a bit deal, but don't set this up expecting to use it right away. Seasoning takes about 4 hours and I used two full cans of vegetable oil spray. All this said, it is a really nice solid grill. I had been using a mini weber grill for years and decided I wanted something slightly bigger and more upright. I did a lot of research before purchasing this grill and it was highly rated outside of Amazon. I liked that this could be easily turned into a smoker and seemed sturdy. All in all I am happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Great Grill
Style: Wook Shelf
I bought one of these 11 years ago and just bought another one. I found assembly easy by following the instructions and looking at the illustrations. They recommend two people for it but I was able to do it by myself (maybe the larger grills need 2 people). Once assembled it's sturdy. Everything fit well. If you're having difficulty assembling yours, make sure you have everything lined up right. After everything is assembled go over all the nuts and bolts to make sure everything is tight. This is a good griller, you control temperature with the side vent and chimney flap. Plus you control how close the charcoals are to the cooking grates by raising or lowering the charcoal grate. It's a great grill and a good value but they are prone to rust (that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). My advise is to get the cover and do what you can to protect it from the weather. Replacement parts are available. This grill comes with cast iron grates. You pretty much treat those like you would any cast iron. Stainless Steel grates are available from third parties (just be sure to check the sizing). I also suggest that you treat the wood shelves with Boos Block Board Cream, or similar product. ... show more
