I’ve installed a number of garage door openers in the past so I found the installation fairly straight forward just using the enclosed installation manual. However, the built in LED light didn’t work. In looking through the manual under ‘troubleshooting’ the instructions for addressing this were not at all detailed (see the photo). In looking at the opener it’s not at all obvious either as to what needs to be done “to remove the cover”. I reached out to Chamberlain customer support and they were very helpful. They ended up sending me a new light assembly (which encompasses most of the bottom of the unit, see photos). Included with the new light were more detailed instructions on how to remove the old light assembly. After taking out the screws and lowering the old light assemble, the wire connection came apart – clearly they weren’t connected tightly in assembly. Connecting the wires fixed the issue and I have an extra LED light if the original fails. By the way – if you need more detailed instructions on removing the light assembly do a Google search on the part number: 041-0203-000. From there, click on the chamberlain link to the part, which has a link to the instructions. As to how the opener works: I love it. It’s very quiet and works very smoothly. The MyQ app was fairly easy to setup and works well. The light though is somewhat underwhelming, at least in my specific situation, in that it shines on the back wall of the garage. My door to the house is on the side wall, more towards the front of the garage, so there’s not a lot of light that shines on it. I think having an adjustable light (one that could be pointed to where you want it) would be ideal. In the end, I’ll give this 4 stars: Great mechanicals, very smooth and quiet but the light is a bit of a disappointment. Edit: I was able to rotate the light 180 degrees and have it point to the garage door, thus better light the entrance to my house. See the last picture. Much improved, will up to 5 stars.     • Very quiet and relatively easy to install
Style: Door Opener
This unit replaced our old screw drive unit. We got the B4603T and it is MUCH quieter. We also like the ability to open/close via the app (and also just check if the door is open or closed) and the overhead light being triggered by the motion sensor built into the wall switch (there's a little door you have to open on the wall switch to access the motion sensor control). Note that the included remotes don't have as much range as the Homelink system built into our car's rearview mirror. With Homelink we can open the door from further away. If you plan to install yourself, make sure you keep your garage door level when you are manually lowering it as you are installing the head unit. Our door got off-center and it became a hassle, but that was just me being a first time installer. Having an extra person help with the install is very handy during a few of the steps. ... show more

    • Smooth garage door opener but myQ app loses connection intermittently

My previous garage opener unit was with chain and getting old, also making lot of vibrations and noise. There were some issues opening with the remote, too. So, I was looking for an replacement. This unit was delivered in time. I had it installed through a handyman, who was able to get it done in around 30 - 40 mins. Pros: - The unit is belt driven and extremely smooth. That is the operation when garage door opens and closes can hardly be heard as compared to my previous unit. Extremely pleased here. - The included remotes work well - There is also a included key pad which we have put outside the garage, and opens well ( in case we need to use keypad as a backup in any case ) - The remote operation is smooth - One of the main reasons for getting this unit was that this in inherently compatible with myQ app. That setup is easy and works well in most cases There was an incident recently where the garage door was left open. The myQ app sent a notification , while I was away and out of town. I was able to close the door. This feature is well worth Cons: The one issue I have found is also relating to integration with myQ app where I noticed the app loses connectivity to to the unit intermittently. This is a bit annoying. I tried logging out of the app and reconnecting the unit, which seems to have lessened the occurrence but time will tell. ... show more

I like the way it was easy to physically install. I didn't like the way it had to be programmed. You must read the instructions and follow them with precision. Real men do not read instructions. Have someone read them to you while you push the buttons. I tried for an hour before I gave up and admitted that I am not a real man. Chamberlain is a train wreck. As starting point there is no information readily available that tells one how high this unit will lift a door. Only after installing it did I discover that it did not go high enough. Only after discovering on YouTube did I discover that an extension kit is available. The other major issue that we had is that the lights did not work in the unit. I called their customer support which is located in India. Initially they were providing diagnostic instructions for the wrong unit. Then they wanted to send me replacement parts which would have required me to disassemble the entire motor unit - crazy given that its brand new. When I requested to speak to supervisor, they stated that their process is that a supervisor would call me back in 24 hours - so here I wait. Their on-line virtual chat option available on their website is also totally worthless. ... show more
