I have such bad cravings for chalk during my current pregnancy, and I have ordered this three times. It does taste better the more you let it air dry but even if you do not, it still satisfies the craving. I do not swallow it since I am just too scared, but it is SO good. It starts off crunchy and turns creamy in your mouth. I am resisting the urge to order it again since it is pretty pricey for only 6 pieces, if you have pregnancy pica this will def help. It tastes like chalk. It might be edible, but if you think you are getting a candy cigarette in the shape of chalk like I did, you will be disappointed!!

Update: I received an iron IV blood infusion from my doctor and I no longer crave chalk and dirt, please talk to your doctor if you are anemic. It will help you so much. Update: I’ve purchased it a couple times. My pregnancy pica is extreme. My last purchase was perfect. Not broken and super clean. No impurities or spots in it. Very soft and easy to bite into. I still spit most of it out since it can cause stomach issues. But chewing it is very satisfying so is the flavor. Also, I’ve found that taking iron supplements does help decrease the cravings. Clean chalk and a good amount. Mine was not broken. I thought I had pica because I was craving chalk even tho I never ate chalk before. But I could not stop thinking about it. Tried this and it’s good, the texture is nice. Flavor is kinda weird. I bought some freeze dried vanilla ice cream and it it similar in texture so I think ill eat that instead. Because I’m afraid to swallow the chalk. The ice cream also tastes better. ... show more

    • Not "Chalky" Enough For Me
Unfortunately, I have pica now during my pregnancy and have been craving chalk. I typically chew, then spit out the chalk. This is one that, apparently, I can completely ingest, so I decided to give it a try. I feel like a chalk connoisseur, so excuse my excessive description. Many people complain about the price, but I am not bothered by it. They are wrapped very well and appear to be clean. The chalk sticks are uniform, too. I can't complain much about the price of something I obsessively crave. The flavor is fine, but I wish it had even less of a taste. I can taste a slight twinge of something acrid, possibly the minerals. My bigger issue is the texture. It feels like I am eating something cakey or starchy, which I DO NOT LIKE when it comes to my pica right now. It gets thick in the mouth like a starch and cakey. I prefer crispy, dry, and crunchy all the way through. It is crisp on initial chewing, but after that, it is downhill for me. I read in another review to rinse it off and let it dry for a day or so. I will try that out and see if it will make it crunchier and take away that starchy feel. However, if you are into a soft finish - it's perfect. I will try the rinse-and-dry method,;. Hopefully, it will give the crispy, dry flavor I want. If not, I don't foresee myself repurchasing it and will use it as a backup to my other chalk. As a chalk eater this was not what I was looking for.. This was very hard and very rocky feeling. Taste very weird (metal taste) and felt like I was eating rocks then it turned into a mushy texture that felt like as if I was eating straight wet cement or wet stucco. An update : I left the chalk out of the bag and paper. Let it sit out for almost a month tbh I forgot about it. I only tasted it cuz I was out of the dirty i normally eat. And it tasted the chalk and it was completely different. And I enjoyed it. The taste was better but it still had that rock like texture. ... show more

Not sure why people are so harsh! I developed a sense of eating anything powdery, chalky, drywall during my third trimester and have been very careful not to eat those things lol. Then I discovered that there is edible chalk and it made me smile ear to ear! It's perfect and exactly what I was looking for! No chemical taste for me. The texture is amazing. I have been going back and forth about buying chalk from this vendor. The main reason is the mixed reviews. I have huge PICA cravings, so I eat about 3 lbs of dirt/clay per month. I have been looking for a chalk similar to what I ate in my childhood. As I result I ended up here. I will only say that this chalk had my stomach hurting, I threw up a few times, I have a massive headache, and I had blood in my stool. I would not eat this brand of chalk. The taste was not bad, but I have a vendor that sales clean dirt and clay. I have regular stools and have never felt ill, especially waking up still sick. ... show more

    • DISGUSTING! Do not buy!!!
There is a really awful chemical aftertaste, I cannot eat even a single bite. I would much rather buy a more organic brand, this is not premium at all. Or have slate pencils which are cheaper + taste better. Plus, this brand doesn’t even do refunds… terrible.
