I think this set is very versatile for any age group. I did buy for my nine year old who loves drawing. There are lots of parts he doesn’t use quite yet because it’s a little advanced but he still loves.

It does have a knife in it which we had to remove as one was for an under 10 yr old. This is perfect for budding artists. Has everything they need to get started. Both loved their sets and began using immediately. Suggest buying an additional pad as the one which comes with this is small.
