I've been needing to record some short video walkthroughs, and needed a simple basic microphone to work with. This Caveger USB Microphone had a nice metal neck so I didn't need am arm mount... sold! It's very basic--you get the microphone mounted on a small plastic base, a windscreen and it plugs into a USB-A port. Interestingly, I tried doing a direct connection (no hub) to my computer and it was not recognized. Pluggin it into a hub connected to my computer did the trick. I did some simple tests, and yes it works well as an omni microphone. For working distance, I experimented and found the closer it is to your mouth the better. I found 4-6 inches away, slightly lower than your chin worked best for me. Placing it 12-16" away was horrible... there is no pre-amp circuit so there is no internal signal boost. I included a sample recording screenshot... dynamic range is low, but if you amplify it, voice can still sound pretty decent. I did not try to record any music or instruments, so boosting those may cause distortion. The mic stand has a blue light to show it is powered; there is a -loud- switch to turn off the mic. I may put some rubber pads under the mic stand to isolate any rumble or keyboard vibration, but other than that, this is a decent basic mic for voice work. If I was doing voiceovers for broadcast work, I'd pick a different mic with a different pickup pattern, but for my simple needs, this did fine! ... show more

This microphone is a simple plug-n-play operation. There aren’t any additional settings to be modified or selected for this to function. Just plug the USB cord into a USB port on your PC or laptop. I ordered this for dictation purposes and to apply voice overs onto video content. In order for dictation to properly translate my voice into text, i must speak at such a slow rate and pronounce each syllable of every word that I totally lose my train of thought. Similar issues with voice-overs such as I sound robotic and monotonous. It’s impossible to keep your audience engaged with those tones. If you plan to use this microphone for video chat, increase the volume of your voice for meetings and conferences then it will work for you. It has an adjustable neck and a blue light to let you know it’s working. It will pick up your voice as long as you are near it. It doesn’t have to be right at your mouth. This is actually not a bad microphone, depending on how you plan to use it. For me, I use this microphone for live streaming, conference calls, and chatting with my friends. I also did some voice recordings with this microphone. I was pretty surprised at the results. The sound was clear. The mute function works quickly. This also came with a pop filter and I did not notice a lot of background noise in my recording. So for me, this is a great microphone and it is priced correctly. This is not a studio quality microphone. This quickly connected to my desktop and performed exactly the way a microphone in this price range should. It meets my expectations. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. For the price, this little guy has really excent sound! I'd absolutely recommend being much closer to rhe microphone and having the pop filter on, but it records much louder than my other mics at the same settings/distance, and sets up so easy. Its easy to maneuver, takes up such little space, and the overall simple design made this an instant win for me for a cost effective microphone option. There is a single power (or mute) button on the front. The power light is obvious and clear to it lessens the chance of recording with no audio. Very very satisfied with this one! ... show more

So at the value point, i think this mic is fine, it's worth < $20 for sure. But you definitely get what you pay for. Don't expect HD quality sound. My recordings sound extremely muffled or "under water" so i can't use it for my youtube recordings. That being said, if you need a quick mic for gaming or discord this will totally work, it's good enough. Zoom meetings? I'd go 50/50 on that, thus the 3 stars. Not the best mic but certainly not the worst. I do like the fact that it has a power button at the base as well and actually looks nice too. ... show more
