I consider myself a bookavore (yep, just made that word up) - if it's good, I will devour it in one sitting without much thought. Strolling through the clock app one night and, I saw this recommendation and was - why not? Little did I know that it would be dawn and a lot of emotional outcries later that I just consumed Catalyst like it was a lifeline I didn't know I needed. All the swoon worthy tropes are captured meticulously with care, and the characters (YES, not just the leads but a whole darn supporting cast of amazing characters!) will pull at your heart strings where you think you're Team Jaxon but darlings - be prepared - there's a lot to love here. Catalyst is a billionaire/mafia story of Jaxon Pace and the girl next door, Natalie Tyler. Boy meets girl when she's saving his daughter from a would be kidnap attempt gone wrong. Did I say she was a damsel in distress? No, ma'am. Natalie is going to a bloomin' belle that we just keeps unraveling to be a fierce lead. There's snarky banter, doting hitmen, sassy cousins, and the ensemble unfolds very organically. Jaxon has a sordid past, but what billionaire/mafia don doesn't? This book is THICC, you're going to get history, world building, character back story, and as the story unfolds -moral dilemmas, ugly truths and hard conversations all just flow and resolve itself without being forced. Not too overly romanticized but it's clearly a love story beyond the leads. It's about how families by choice can be even more consuming than family by blood. I absolutely love how this story embraces and promotes the idea of CHOICES. In a world where everyone has opinions, if it isn't for you - just move on. But the emphasis on choices as Jaxon courts Natalie is just a chef's kiss. Although there's a forced proximity to their courtship, the respect for consent and power of choices will take you through a riveting story. So I do recommend checking some content warnings, however there's a very practical approach to the story and I loved the sprinkles of internal dialogue and point of views. Also, be prepared for a slow but cataclysmic levels of spice. Catalyst is Book One in the Heat of the Inferno Series for Nicole Fanning, and on the first book - she's hit this out of the park. I'm obsessed! Catalyst sparked emotions I wasn't prepared for, and I am invested for more.

“The truth is your body will age and fail, but your imagination will stay young forever. Books are just sustenance for the soul.” With quotes like that, you know it will be a good book! I discovered Nicole Fanning on Booktok and was immediately excited to give her book a read. This was such a great debut novel - I love me some Mafia romance novels, and this one was such a fun take on that genre! Nicole does a great job of character development. She does not rush her story along, and gives you a great connection with her characters! You will adore the heroine, Natalie. She is so soft hearted, accepting, and willing to help anyone. However, you’re also going to see how strong she can be. She will not let an obstacle stop her from protecting herself or those she loves! 💪🏻 Jaxon is such an interesting take on a Mafia Don. He is a ruthless billionaire playboy hero - but she develops him in such an open and honest way. 🥰 This story has TONS of twists and turns. You’re jaw will actually drop multiple times. 🤯 You will love reading this book and delving into Nicole’s mind! I cannot wait for book 2! 🙌🏻

Bravo! This book had me INVESTED! I had to keep reading because I was dying to know what would happen next. I think I have fallen in love with Nicole Fanning’s writing. I love how this book was so dark yet had great comedy in it! Jaxon Pace has made it to the top of my book boyfriend’s list. And as for Natalie, I can’t wait to see her grow in her strength! She went through so much stuff in this book (most of it unexpectedly) for her to come out of it with a game plan makes me love her even more! This book has mafia romance, single dad, jealous ex, protective hero vibes. It’s a must read and listen! The Narrators are Grayson Owens and Maxine Mitchell. The amount of emotion they put into this book was chef’s kiss. Grayson literally BECAME Jaxon just as Maxine BECAME Natalie. There are no other Narrators that I could see voicing these characters. Their chemistry was just to good! I cannot wait to get into the next book!

One of my favorite reads now.Holy crap this was addicting. I was hooked instantly. I read this in just a few hours. Ignored all household responsibilities and beyond worth it. Jaxson is a single dad whi is also Don of biggest Mafia family in Chicago and drop dead gorgeous. Natalie beautiful nurse who recently broke up with her cheating fiance right before the wedding goes to her cousins wedding I'm Chicago and while in her hotel parking garage she ends up saving someone, which leads her to meet Jaxson Pace. He's rude to her at first but comes around, aftersome swooning. So much is going on in the book you can't put it down. The story line is amazing. I'm completely devoted to their story. It's a Mafia romance, slow burn up and the build up is so great. Jax is instantly possesive,touch her you 💀,I love how he treats her 😇Natalie's acceptance for everything is something special ⚠️there's talk of drug addiction,kidnapp,assult. Unaliving I was told that this book is up there as favorites with some other book I love. And YES I can definitely saw that this is true. I was left speechless by how good this was written. So many feelings. I loved it.

Ok, I loved the story line, the characters and the evolution of growth in both of the main characters. Some of the side characters I also fell in love with. But........the beginning of the book dragged for me. Yes, the story was progressing and the story line was moving along. But sometimes the characters thoughts seemed to go on and on. I got a lil bored. But that was only in the like first quarter of the book. Once you got passed that it was full steam ahead. Then the story moved at a good pace and it keep me engaged and I flew threw the rest of the book. If you don't mind that, this is a great book. And you should give it a try. I am going to get book two. Now that all the characters are established I am hoping it moves at a faster pace.

Loved this book. HATE THE CLIFFHANGER!! it is truly a peeve of mine. If any review had mentioned it I would not have bought the book.. now I have to wait until spring next year? Most times I just don't buy the next one, that is how much I hate when a book doesn't tie up the story. But for what it is worth here is my thoughts on the book.. Natalie was smart, sexy, and courageous. Although in the end I wasn't happy with her actions. I felt they deviated from her actions and who she was throughout the story up until then. Jaxon is hotness personified! Gotta love an alpha that is willing to open up, even when he is uncomfortable with his feelings. I did want to see him have more interactions with his daughter. The two of them had interactions and conversations that allowed you to watch them developed. Don't think you are going to have any adult sexy time until well after half way thru the book. The sex is written in a vague way, not graphic. I thought the bathtub scene was hotter than the actual sex. Although I though Natalie's thought were kinda high schoolish. 🤔

I was captivated and enthralled with this book from the first chapter. Natalie is home in Chicago for her cousin's wedding and has not been home since she walked away from her fiance when she found out he was cheating on her. While everyone in her family want them to get back together she wants to just move on. I loved how much growth Natalie had in this book. She starts off fierce in her own right but still has an inner monolog that shows us her struggles. She goes from being quiet to having a voice again which makes her perfect for Jaxon. Jaxon who is the don of one of the biggest crime families in Chicago and the only women in his life is his daughter he is one and done with woman not wanting anything. Until he meets Natalie after she saves his daughter. I love how these two build on their relationship. He starts will wooing her and showing her how good he can be. This book is action packed and will keep you on the edge of your set. While these two fall for each other the world around them is blowing up. Giving her a true look into his world. This book ends on a cliff hanger and you just can't wait to move on to the next one. I can't get enough of Jaxon and Natalie.

A humble kind FMC, Natalie comes to a hotel for a family wedding. What happens next is a possible child kidnapping, a confrontation with a Billionaire Hotelier MMC Jaxson. The emotional connection and adventures that arise are a whirlwind of the impossibilities of whether an outsider FMC and a Mafia Dom MMC can make a connection by which 2 different worlds become one. The story was written very well and believable. It is a tastefully written romance with respect towards female characters that I find remarkable. If a mafia adventure is what you’re craving and spice (*****) level alongside real Alphas and monsters (bad guys) then I really recommend this book. Just a little note, I read this in one night, so now I have to go back to life and reality, and go back to doing my laundry and wash the dishes. Then go on to book 2 after I take a nap;-)
