I really like this dog door. It took a little getting used to for my small dog and one of the cats. We got a bigger one because we also have a large dog. But they can get through it. We are hoping that because of the magnets, it will deter rats from coming in through the doggie door. Time will tell. It was straight forward to install. It helps keep out the weather better than our previous doggy door that did not have the magnetic closure.

It’s a good quality door. My only concern is that the magnets are so strong that I’m not sure my cats can easily get in and out. Right now I have one of the 2 door flaps taped open and put duct tape over the magnetic parts on the other one. Hoping once they get the idea that they can get in and out this way, they’ll use the necessary force to open it. Anybody else have ideas for a way to diminish the magnetic strength??

Our furry child, an Aussie/Border Collie, has always been a homebody, but we wanted to provide her with more freedom to enjoy the outdoors. After much research, we decided on a large steel dog door with a telescoping tunnel, magnetic double flaps, and two sliding lock panels – a feature-packed model designed for pups up to 110 lbs. We had it professionally installed and were immediately impressed by its build quality. Our contractor described it as "excellent" and praised its sturdy construction and smooth operation. The initial transition was a bit bumpy, as expected. It took our dog a while to acclimate to the new door, but that's perfectly normal. We were reassured by the installer who told us most dogs require some time to adjust. Now, our pup uses the door all the time, confidently entering and exiting the house with newfound independence. Here's what we love about this particular dog door: Sturdy Construction: The steel frame and the robust design make it highly durable, assuring us it will withstand the test of time and our energetic dog's enthusiastic use. This dog door is a nice design with the dual flaps as they provide a thermal insulation barrier to the outside. The magnetic strips work well for making sure the flaps re-seat/re-seal every time it's used. The flaps fall back into place perfectly and I don't feel any air coming in around them. The flaps are a bit heavy and the magnets provide enough resistance that it took my dogs some time to get used to using it as they were hesitant to really push through, but after about a week they got the idea and have no issue with it now. The install was no harder or easier than I would expect for any dog door. I installed mine on a metal door, so it was a bit more complex than a wood door would have been, but that would be the case for any dog door with this main door. I do wish they had pre-drilled holes in the framing for you to screw/rivet through in order to make the install quicker. Overall, I'm happy with the doors functionality and adequate simplicity of installation.

Without a doubt, this is the best by far. Now, I have not installed it yet due to changes in plans. A german shepherd was going to become a resident and that changed at the last minute. Rather than install a permanent fixture like a dog door and then not use it, I will wait to see if the situation changes again. Life is change. I am hoping that it may yet happen, at which point I will install it. Pulling it out, reading the instructions, handling the materials, it just screams quality throughout. I'm sure it will be a perfect match for the new exterior door we installed just for this occasion. Keeping my fingers crossed.
