We have owned Nespresso machines for at least a decade now, and really like them. They do however wear out eventually, so we keep a lookout for alternatives. This Casa Brews machine looks like a great competitor! I'm comparing the Casa Brews (henceforth CB) machine with our older and somewhat smaller Nespresso (N) machine. The N has two buttons, one for small and the other for larger; the CB allows you to select one of four sizes. Nice, although probably not a feature we'll use a lot (we almost always brew the largest). It does remember the size you last asked for. The lever on the N machine is easier to push down--this may be because the N machine has a sharper needle, I don't know. The CB lever is not too hard. The CB beeps when it's warmed up; the N does nothing except stop flashing. If you press the N button to warm up, then a few seconds later press it again, it will brew once it's warmed up without you having to do anything more. The CB does not seem to do that--you have to come back and press the button again when you hear it beep. The CB is noticeably quieter while brewing. I ran two cups side-by-side, using the same Nespresso brand pods in both; the picture shows the result, with the CB on the left. The CB made slightly more coffee, but how much the N makes varies depending on previous use, so that's not a fair comparison. (You can always brew a bit more with a given pod, but you have to shut it off manually.) I think there was slightly more crema (foam) in the N cup. I couldn't discern any difference in the taste. The instructions say to just run water through the machine when setting it up, without a coffee pod. I thought they had omitted a step and forgot to tell you to insert the pod... Don't you make the same mistake! The N machines do eventually wear out (we give them a lot of use in our house). I can't say how durable the CB machine will be, although it does appear to be well built. If I find out differently, I'll come back and report. Recommended. ... show more

This espresso machine works like it's supposed to however beware it's tiny. I have absolutely no cups that fit under this. It's sleek and compact. CASABRewa espresso machine is easy to set up, wash and fill the tank with water and go. I made an Americano and it was great. I happened to have some Nespresso pods because I bought them by accident and today I was able to put them to use. The thing that goes up and down to load and release the pod is a little tight. There is a holding tank for the used pods so you can get to the next cup for company without messing around. I can recomend. I must note that it's time to get my tiny espresso cups out. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is seriously top notch. It brews a beautiful cup with a rich full layer of crème on top! It’s so easy to use, which is what I was hesitating about receiving this. The instructions are very clear, you simply hit a button or two after cleaning a few parts and then you’re literally ready right away. I did have mine on a surface not sturdy or flat enough and little red lights went on and wouldn’t let me brew. I simply popped it over to a flat surface and it worked. The sample brew of water (Americana size) they have you select first is the one with most water/liquid. I had to play around to see which level was for me and I like ‘espresso’ selection. I also went on Amazon and looked for original Nespresso pods and found a brand other than Nespresso that were priced nicely and they fit perfectly and taste delicious. Rhymes with ‘more’ 😉. Anyway I couldn’t be more pleased and as long as the longevity of this machine holds up, I’m happy. Time will tell obviously. Hope to be happy later on as I am today. Makes waking up in the morning a lot more exciting!! Also, I wanted to mention that the pieces fitting together are very intuitive. Like a wild animal, I removed all the little parts without taking note of where and how they go and it was a simple breeze to put them all back. They only make sense and fit a certain way and I was able to do it immediately. So. If I could do that, I’m quite certain the normal crowd will be able. Love this very much. This is a great machine that will serve you for years. It brews and heats well and you are able to use off-nespresso brand capsules/pods for a reduced price. It heats up silently. It takes about 1 min. 30 sec to brew. The tank holds enough water for 12 espressos. The part that catches the used pads also holds 8 used pods. The drip tray and other areas that hold pods function well and are easy to clean. ... show more
