I've been using a Moka pot to make my espresso for the last year - works great and I love it. But it takes about 10 minutes and the therea the disassemble to clean. And it doesn't make a "true" espresso. I decided to "splurge" on this machine. It is compact and very easy to set up to begin use. It's a little loud, but only for 15 seconds. And the warm up / pouring is very quick. However, it does leave grounds in my coffee (I've been using pre ground starbucks espresso blend). And honestly the taste is VERY comparable to my $40 moka pot. I half regret making this purchase. ... show more

Read reviews all good and one said not hot enough- I just stick mine in microwave for 30 extra seconds while frothing milk!! Comes out perfect! I just switched from drip coffee to espresso and will never go back. This is easy to use and I've found it makes a great crema. The lid of the water reservoir broke, however, I contacted the seller and they replaced it quickly without any problems! The only other downfall of this is that the 2-shot cup holds water... The only way I've found is to remove it from the handle part, tip it upside down, and just shake it back and forth to remove the water. The machine stopped preheating and espresso was coming out cold. I contacted customer support looking for recommendations on how to fix it and they said they'd send a new unit. I emailed customer support and Joanne responded within an hour, that was on 9/18. Joanne apologized for the inconvenience and said they'd send the new machine. 9/20 I received the machine and we were back up and running. I always appreciate that kind of response. I asked if she'd like me to return the original for possible repair and resale and she declined. Said if I wanted to do something they appreciate Amazon reviews so here I am.     • It works but it does not taste like espressos you buy

I worked as a barista for many years. I know how to use espresso machines and how to make lattes and espressos. I have used 3 different espresso brands to test this machine. First, you need to preheat it. Even with the preheat function, to my particular taste, it does not feel as hot as any coffee you get anywhere. Then, the taste is not close to espressos in coffee shops either. I thought it could be the espresso coffee brand, but then I bought two other brands and they are okay, especially when I add the espresso shots to my regular keurig coffee, but they do not taste that slightly bitter that I like (I know it is not supposed to be bitter, but i like that). If you mix coffee with milk and do lattes you probably do not care, but I like black, strong coffee so I think it works to wake me up but it is not there yet for my expectations.
