Updated 10/24 to 4 stars: 5 Stars for Casabrews Customer Service and support. Received the 1st machine, had some challenges and Casabrews replaced it immediately. Good: Build and with some stainless steel parts. Has all the basics needed for a good budget semi-atuo setup with steam wand that's a great plus. Small footprint and takes little counter space. Does what it says. Follow the steps in the manual and will give great espresso shots. If your puck comes out wet and soggy, check your grind and make sure to fill the filer till max line (10g for single) as less than a fully filled filter will give you wet soggy pucks also - ofcourse grind and tamping affect too. Minor - not so good: The machine is light but the wand/filter attachment is tight(as should be) resulting in the moving the machine and requiring holding the machine down from moving. The vibration of the pump is not too much but enough to make your cup or shot glass dance across the base - so you have to hold it in place or it'll go right off the surface. The pressure gauge and cup warmer on the top are not perfect. The gauge doesn't show pressure readings but just a zone where the needle should land when extracting your shot. It helps to know your process may need some tweaks if the needle is outside the ideal zone. Cup warmer area is of no use either as it will never get hot enough to warm up a cup which I think maybe due to safety reasons so someone doesn't burn their hand. I know I would've if it was a hot surface while holding down the machine to attach the wand. Lastly, the tamper spoon stick is plastic and not ideal - I measure by weight so not an issue and have been tamping with it just okay, but will get a good metal tamper. After using it for a while now, I've realized that being a budget semi auto machine, the extraction volume is preset to 30ml for single and 60ml for double and that is the right volume range. BUT, this is extracted in approx 10secs for single and about 20 secs for double - as you know such low extraction time is not good for a shot- ideal time is 25-30 secs. The machine allows you to change the volume of extraction by increasing time(see manual) that's not ideal as single shot in 23secs(machine won't higher) increases the volume to 70ml and 120ml for double in 25secs. It also affects the crema IMHO. So, you're stuck with right volume but low extraction time or right extraction time but more than double the volume. Am experimenting with finer grind and tamping to see if I can improve. I have a hand grinder and found for best results grind at No.2 and tamp it down with extra pressure. I run both single and double for about 25 secs. Lastly brew temperature - am told by the Technical/Customer support that the machine is factory set to brew/extract in the 150F-160F range, whereas the ideal temperature is 195F-205F. Sadly, you cannot change the temperature setting. Since it is a budget semiauto machine that does the basic job for me, I'll live with it. Despite all the above quirks, it's still worth the investment without needing to rely on expensive machines and prefilled Kcups that are exorbitant. ... show more

I have only had this a week and have used it daily. Very limited experience using a machine like this but it is very straight forward and user friendly. I have friends who have spent several thousand for their expresso machines. That is not within my budget. However, I have saved money with this cost efficient version and have zero complaints. Just read the instructions before hand and take your time. It made a great cup first try so no experimentation was needed on my end to get an excellent latte or expresso. I would highly recommend this to any newby who, like me, cannot afford to drop mega bucks on an expresso machine. I use the cafe bustelo coffee grounds and Monin coffee syrups. This is perfect for a couple cups daily. If my review changes down the road I will update. Until then, I recommend this purchase! For the price, you cannot beat the quality. I’ll start off by saying I previously owned a Breville, and honesty for the price of this machine, it matches up quite well. The only difference is of course it doesn’t freshly grind your coffee beans, but ease of use, water capacity for the tank, cleaning and delicious tasting espresso, it is a great espresso maker. The only downside if I had to really give it one, is the machine is a little loud, it’s also very loud and vibrates my entire counter when using the hot water aspect. I was a little shocked at how loud it was, but it’s nothing that would make me lessen my review. Overall, I think it’s a good espresso maker, especially if someone is looking for a beginner machine or maybe a little More experienced with making espresso. ... show more

I bought this espresso machine to replace my old one, and I'm quite satisfied with it. It's easy to use, has a sleek design, and makes a decent cup of coffee. The milk frother works well and creates a nice foam. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the water tank is a bit small and needs to be refilled often. Other than that, it's a great product for the price and I would recommend it to anyone who likes espresso. ... show more
