  • Carrier Infinity Communicating Thermostat overview
The Infinity communicating thermostat communicates digitally/electronically to the furnace controller board (at the furnace). A typical/standard thermostat only provides switch contacts that are connected to the furnace controller board, e.g. Google Nest, Honeywell, etc. To get full functionality of your Infinity Furnace, such as a variable speed fan, you have no choice but to use an Infinity communication thermostat. It is easy to install and program. There are just 4 color coded wires to reconnect to the new thermostat. The programming is simple but requires some basic knowledge of your furnace/ac system, e.g. is there a heat pump or humidifier? (need to answer yes or no). The most difficult (for me) programming question is the size of the AC in Tons. On the outdoor compressor frame is a tagged w/model number which you can Google to find out the AC Tons. You can use a standard non-communicating thermostat (which are way cheaper) rather than an Infinity communicating thermostat, but you will need to modify the wiring at both the thermostat and furnace controller. Also, note that Carrier sell only to HVAC contractors, not private individuals, unlike other HVAC manufacturers. For a thermostat, it is too expensive, but again, you have no good choices if you have a Carrier Infinity HVAC system. ... show more

  • It was an easy installation, this thermostat in only for the Carrier infinity system.
It was an easy installation, this thermostat in only for the Carrier infinity system. I tried other thermostats and looked at the wiring for my Carrier infinity system, and they do not match. This stat has only needed four wires for a basic installation; however, if you have zones, you will need six wires. For the basic installation, two wires (A = green and B=yellow) are for communication to the other units, and the other two wires (C=white and D=red) are for power (24 VAC). The rest of the two wires are for zones if you have them, I don't have them in my system, so I cannot comment on them. I gave it four stars because the Alexa communication does not work; however, wifi via cell phone and the computer does work. ... show more

  • IT’s WORKING
installation is a bit quirky ..... we experienced some connection issues while traveling and trying to check the thermostat - at last check: we are currently over one thousand miles away from its location and i was able to connect

  • It's main purpose is integration with Carrier Infinity and provides far more than any Nest etc
Sure, as usual Carrier is behind when it comes to technology and smart apps. Lots of complaints in here regarding no compensation for direct sunlight, can't integrate with xyz. All true but first off what a/c tech installed your thermostat near a sunny window. This may not provide all of the fancy flaming whiz in a gui such as nest or ecobee but what if focuses on is comfort. Can I a Nest provide ideal humidity year round? Can it run a multi stage heat pump or dual fuel systems? Stop comparing oranges and apples and figure out if comfort trumps gizmos then get back to me. I will never build a home ever without a Carrier Infinity or a Bryant Evolution system period. You get what you pay for and you won't find that in an $89 thermostat! ... show more

  • Touch screen is trash, works 25% of the time
The media could not be loaded. Actual trash. Touch screen just "error beeps" 95% of the time you touch it, and when it does register a touch, it's the wrong thing, or it doesn't change anything! Schedule doesn't work, no matter what time it is, it's just set to some random setting, not per schedule. For $1000 (!!) this is garbage. Hot flaming garbage. The app is hardly any better. What you set on the app does not reflect on the unit. Please enjoy this video of me laughing in the absurdity of trying to set my thermostat to "home" for over a minute and a half and never succeeding!! Carrier... it's 2023! DO BETTER! ... show more

  • No Home automation ability
It’s 2022 and home automation has been around for about 20 years now. I just built a new home with all of the latest capabilities. I picked the top HVAC system offered by the builder and installed a high-end security system that integrates with everything. Z-wave, Zigbee, alarm.com, SmartThings etc. imagine my surprise when I found out I can’t replace these panels and their technology is 20 years old. You have to use these panels with an infinity system. You CANNOT use any 3rd party digital thermostat. First I jumped through all of the hoops to get them to connect to WiFi. You have to have a separate WiFi system running the very first WiFi standard or they won’t connect. 802.11b, which is 2.4ghz only. So you have to completely impact your home WiFi by making it run only in this very old standard that does about 5mbps, when the current standard does 500mbps. By the way the chips cost about $5. Then I finally got it to connect to the WiFi and their cloud controller. Imagine my surprise when I found out there are NO, ZERO, ZILCH integrations to allow you to tie it in to you home automation system. No way to turn off the fans or shut it down if the smoke alarm goes off (and maybe there is a fire), no way to turn the system off if your wife or kids or maybe you leave a door to the outside open. (I mean what was the point of putting open close sensors on every door and window that opens in the house). Plain and simple. If you are given the choice stay away from Carrier systems for your home until they decide to update their systems. If you have a Carrier infinity system, I’m sorry. But this thermostat is your only choice. ... show more
