5 stars sturdiness, easy to install, maneuverability. HOWEVER, overall it gets 3 stars due to the safety hazard of the poorly designed cat door. Fortunately we were home when this incident happened and I was able to extract him safely. My 50 lb dog tried to stick his head/body through the cat door. Of course, his body couldn't fit but when he tried to pull his head back, his collar got caught on the latch for the cat door and he was choking and panicking. Both gate and dog went flying into a tangled mess of flailing fur and panic...which I then had to untangle with a panicked 50 lb dog on my hands. NEVER LEAVE THAT CAT DOOR OPEN! NEVER NEVER NEVER It is pointless to have a cat door that is a dog choking hazard. Clearly whoever designed this gate doesn't have pets. Structurally, this gate is very sound. It survived my dog's thrashing intact except that the bottom lip of the door got pulled through to the other side so we had to maneuver that back into place. Apparently the tab is there to make the gate stay closed/make the entrance stronger, but it's ALSO a pain that we can only open the gate in one direction. I don't know what the answer is to that issue. I do like the door latch. It's very easy to use and resets itself automatically to the locked position when you drop it back down after closing the door. Now I have a nice-looking, sturdy dog gate that my cat can't go through without us opening the human doorway because of a hazardous design. If that's the reason you're looking at this gate, as a way for small dogs or cats to go through and keep the big dogs separate, shop for a different gate. This gate is not suitable or safe for that purpose. As for us, we're going to keep the gate and just keep the cat door closed. When it's closed there is no dog choking hazard that I can see because the part my dog got caught on is on the outside of the gate as we have it set up. It's sturdy metal gate and I like the structure other than the choking hazard. So closing the cat gate is the answer for that. We'll train the cat to go around the side the dogs don't see based on the way we have set it up. We're using it as a free-standing gate rather than secure it to the walls so we have flexibility in positioning. So it's not the end of the world for our cat, but it might have been for our dog! ALSO, the cat door interferes with the gate fully opening because it snags on the next panel when the door swings. VERY poorly designed cat access. Very disappointing. Clearly there's no design testing at this manufacturer. Even a cat door that slides upward and hooks on a clip or lip on the outside of the gate would have been a better design. My dog could have put his head through and pulled it back without getting stuck. I wonder how many dogs have died due to choking with their collar stuck on that cat gate when their humans weren't home to save them...maybe I should wire that cat gate shut. Yeah. It's that poorly designed. They should have gone with a public bathroom type sliding latch as opposed to a dog crate type sliding latch or ANY SAFE design than this one for the cat door. ... show more

Got this gate so my pups could stay on one side of the house, it’s the perfect size. It fits from one wall to another. It’s sturdy so I never screwed it into a wall, my dogs don’t even try to push it or knock it over. They sometime jump on it but it has never fallen. This gate replaces the exact same one I've had for years. (A ladder fell on that one, knocked it out of true, and one of the screws holding it in place went missing, otherwise it would have lasted a few more years.) It's installed at the top of the stairs leading to my little 2nd-floor deck, which my malamute thinks is his outdoor crate. It keeps him safe at home, but it's easy in/out for me and visitors. I looked at many, many alternatives, but this was by far the best value for an outdoor pet gate. One quibble that shouldn't be a deal-breaker for anyone: the milling on one of the extensions (it comes with two; I use one) wouldn't hold the threads on the screw, which made setup a little more challenging, but it wasn't hard to work around. ... show more

This worked great to create a secondary door for my fence! It attached easily to the side of the garage and fence, I ended up buying some heavy duty zip ties and to attach it to my fence. I used the ground stakes that came, but also purchased heavy duty stakes for Amazon for more sturdiness.

I needed some gates to block off the back of my small yard for my dogs. I have the fence standing on its own without it being mounted. Works great for containment of my two little dogs(13pounds). I have had them up for several months straight and have noticed some rusting. Rusting is just surface right now and hoping it will hold up to the winter elements. Gates are lightweight and easy to move when needed. I had to purchase two to completed what I needed which was somewhat pricey; however, if they are long lasting was worth the investment. ... show more

I needed a fence to put on my patio (couldnt stake it into the ground) for a space of 37.5ft. So i had to buy 4 to get enough panels. Did i get it put up and it worked? Yes. But the quality is poor. The small gate doesn't latch well, and the piece to open the whole gate is crap. I suspect it will rust or break very quickly. I will say, It was easy to connect the fences. One of the fences came damgaed, a whole rod came apart when i got it out of the box and the knob on the section was put together wrong and i couldn't loosen it. The gate piece was bent and the welds were broken. Luckily I only needed 3 panels out of that box. I also found it very hard to screw the mounting. There is not much room between the mount piece and the rod of the fence. Last, if your doing a large section like me just buy an extra box. Theres no chance this fence will stand up in even a semi straight line, your gonna have to bend/zipzag the panels, but this will also keep it stable. Edit: a week after i put this up we had a wicked ice storm with high winds that picked my pergola up and knocked down my neighbors fence, but this fence hardly budged! So its very very sturdy. The mountings didnt come loose and it pretty much stayed in the same place. ... show more
