I don't know what kind of magic this thing possesses, but it has really worked for my dog, 75 lb lab mix. For a variety of reasons (combination of aging behavior, health issues, excitable personality, etc.) my dog started waking up frequently throughout the night. Before the happy hoodie, he would pace restlessly in the bedroom or whine until I woke up and we'd go downstairs and lay on the couch. One night I decided to see if this would help - he woke up restless, I gently slipped it on him, and within seconds he was back on the bed and snoozing away comfortably until it was time to get up. I use it during the daytime here and there when he is overly worked up or restless for one reason or another and it has worked consistently for him. Make sure to keep their ears flat against their head underneath the hoodie - takes a second or two to get the fit right but it makes a difference. It worked so well I bought a second one so I could have an upstairs one and a downstairs one. Size large was a good fit. Worth every penny in my opinion!

The Happy Hoodie calming band works much better than I initially expected for helping pets stay calmer during stressful situations. The soft, stretchy fabric gently wraps around the ears and head, which seems to reduce sensitivity to loud sounds like thunder, fireworks, or noisy grooming equipment. When used during grooming sessions, it helped my pet stay noticeably more relaxed and less reactive to the sound of clippers and dryers. The material is soft and comfortable without feeling restrictive, and it stays in place well once positioned correctly. It’s lightweight and easy to slip on and off, and the larger size fits securely without squeezing too tightly. For pets that get anxious during grooming or loud events, it can make the experience much less stressful. One helpful tip is to place the band over the ears gradually and adjust it so it sits snugly but comfortably around the head. It’s also useful to introduce it briefly before a stressful event so your pet can get used to the feeling. Neither of the two dogs I tried this on were calmed by it. I bought one for my Foxhound Catahoula shelter mutt who had terrible separation anxiety. Was destructive in the beginning, busted out of his cage, and was a lock picker of said cage. So originally bought it for him. NOTHING. Same amount of cage destruction as before. Zelda, my Dutch Mal, I bought for drying with a pet dryer, turns out she didn't really need it. This is like CBD oil, some dogs it will work for, and others it won't. I fell into the WON'T camp twice. To the point I lost them. One thing to note, when washing them, cold and cold for both washer and dryer since these shrink and deform if heated. To the point the Large failed to fit the foxhound after a wash. Zelda has a tiny head, so she was fine. THOUGH, that is to say that these don't have some unusual uses, like if your dog needs to wear a cone, this was great at preventing neck chaffing on Zelda, also the cone wasn't small enough for her neck that this added extra girth that was just enough to ensure a snugger neck fit.

For the simple design and the degree of skepticism that we had when placing this on our dog, it absolutely exceeded all of our expectations. Our 65lb pitbull terrier is terrified of any loud noises (thunder, garbage truck banging outside, bangs from the tv, fireworks, etc.) and will immediately run back to the bedroom to hide until the noises subside. This was how we actually ended up adopting her when she was 6 months old. She apparently took off on July 4th from wherever she was and was found in a rural area by a rescue agency, hungry and scared. We have tried to take her with us on July 4th outings ever since, but it was always panic and run away regardless of what we did to soothe her. We decided to try this device on her yesterday to see how she did. We took the advice on the instructions to work with her wearing it while it was calm. Each time, she seemed completely at ease and would fall asleep with it on. This year, we went to a concert venue where they would be having fireworks overhead. Before the main fireworks show started, there were other neighborhoods and individuals around us that were popping off their own personal fireworks, which were still loud enough to cause a substantial boom. As soon as she heard the first one, she stood up and started pacing around, rapidly looking for an escape route. We immediately placed the hoodie on her and she sat down, then eventually laid down even while fireworks were going on all around us. Simply amazing. I think she even fell asleep at one point. When the main fireworks came on, she sat up and was a bit shaky, but then laid back down but was a bit shaky so we eventually put her in the car with the hoodie on to not cause her too much distress. We could not be more impressed with how well this worked for her considering she typically would definitely not have tolerated the smaller fireworks, let alone most of the larger fireworks show. The quality of the hoodie is nice, thick and strong enough to be a bit snug but not constrictive in any way. For our pup, we purchased a L. The color is bright and vibrant. Overall, it's easy enough to stretch to get it in place but not too tight to where it is uncomfortable. It may not work for all dogs universally, but at the price point, it seems like it'd be worth a shot for those who have anxious dogs. Our other dog could not be any more opposite and is not scared of any noises at all. He sat through the entirety of the fireworks show. Pictures are of one of the trial runs at home and then one at the actual fireworks show. Great product, highly recommend.

I like the design of this as it’s stretchy and will stay on. My dog seems comfortable enough in it and didn’t try to remove it, but he doesn’t mind wearing hats and being dressed up, so your dog may be different. I bought it because he has a sore on top of his head that keeps opening back up whenever he plays with another dog. Due to the shape and size of his head, it doesn’t cover the sore, so I’m going to return it. He’s a small Shih Tzu, so he has a very short neck and a flat little head, which contributed to the poor fit on him. It may fit your dog or cat just fine. The material is a heavy knit and seems to be decent quality. It was easy to put on him and easy to remove. I think it’s a decent value for the money if it suits your particular needs.
