These bars are very sturdy. Once you lock them in, they're not going anywhere! The one thing I didn't like was that you cannot unlock all four attachments at the same time. We rarely use our car top carrier, so these seemed like a great price given how little I expect to use them. Fit our 2021 VW Atlas without issue, pretty much at the maximum length. Once clamped on they seem very strong. My only gripe is that I retightened them several times just to be safe. When doing so I found they had become a little loose. I think the rubber grips had compressed a bit, or chamged size from temperature differences. Fortunately after a few adjustments they remained tight. ... show more

The racks themselves are awesome they didn't come with instructions other than the picture on the box it never stated you need an allen wrench 3/16 to install it mine did not come with an allen wrench luckily for the great reviews I discovered you needed allen wrench and I discovered it's 316 after I installed them with the Allen wrench they're tight and they're beautiful they're heavy duty they're excellent but they should come with a small instruction that said you need an allen wrench to tighten them down the lock as stated in one of the reviews is only to keep anyone from accessing the whole where the Allen wrench goes but once they're on the vehicle they truly are four or five star well built thank you for the reviews to let me know I could use an allen wrench to get them going so I called the 800 number and they're only there Monday to Thursday and you don't get a real person I didn't so I went back to the reviews and got her done ... show more

Unfortunately they are too loose to use for my kayaks. I can’t open the lock cover in order to tighten it up to make the bars tight enough to be useable again. They are cheaply made. I wish I could find a way to get the useless things off of my car. So disappointed in these. Spend more money for a brand name!!!! ... show more
