It really works. The only downside is that my husband will complain that the seat gets uncomfortable if he is sitting on it for a couple of hours. We have taken it with us to restaurants and when visiting friends and he doesn't have to worry about getting up from whatever chair is available.

Couldn't engage the lift so had to return it. Don't know if this was defective or I just wasn't strong enough to put it together. But disappointed and had to return. Would like to reorder but afraid it might have the same issue.

A great, portable solution for getting up and out of a chair, etc. - planning on getting a second one for upstairs computer chair. Word of caution- Don't put near edge of a couch cushion - you may tip sideways. Had hat happen to my wife, and the unit collapsed and stopped working. I'm a fixer, so looked inside ... the gas strut popped out of place. No big deal ... figured out the mechanism and fixed it in about 15 minutes - feel free to contact me (through Amazon ?) for a description or telcom on what to do. This is a very handy addition to make our home more user-friendly, and well worth the low $$.

Although the idea, concept and style are functional, one must be very cautious about using this product. Although it was set for my weight, I note that I must have some assistance from another party while sitting down at a dinner table as the distance between the product and the table does not allow me to place my legs (fully) under the table. Either the table has to be moved towards me or I have to be pushed so that my legs are under the table. When I get up from the table, someone must be beside me as the product will suddenly push me up together with the table. In this case, the product is not very practical.

Was purchased for my mother. Thought it would make things easier for her to get out the chair. It does help. She finds it in comfortable. Could use more cushion for the padding

If you have a muscle disease or nerve disease that makes it very difficult to get up out of the chair, this is the answer. In your home, the best answer is clearly an electric operated lift chair but this does not give you the freedom you need to go out on your own to a restaurant and be able to get out of a chair, in my case, even if the chair has arms. Most people don't know the proper way to use the Upeasy There are two different products depending on your weight. In my case I needed a higher weight version. Do not follow their instructions, however. They suggest you set the chair for your own weight but that does not give you sufficient uplift in my opinion. It is better to set the chair for a weight somewhat higher than your weight. When you sit down it will not automatically allow you to lower the seat because of a higher weight but it is easy to reach your hands underneath the chair and pull yourself down. This makes it relatively easy, if the chair has arms, to rise up from most chairs on your own. This is life-changing for me because I love to eat at restaurants regularly but it is also useful in doctors offices etc. Two things you should know however. First, you don't want to reach down to pick something up from the floor when you're in the Upeasy on a chair because as soon as you lean forward the seat assist well start lifting you. Second, on metal chairs at restaurants, the seat can slide despite the fact that there is a rubber backing applied to the bottom. Unfortunately, it does not cover the entire bottom and the plastic rim can cause sliding. The Upeasy I keep in my car I personally modified by cementing a piece of rubber mat I cut to fit the bottom of the seat assist and this has completely solved the problem.

Mom was able to use it for one day. Purchased item that was rated for 200 to 340 pounds. Mom’s weight was up to about 245 due to her cancer treatments and need for long term steroids. We purchased this in hopes that was it that it would assist her in maintaining some independence for a longer period of time. It was very important to her yobe able to do for herself but after only a couple uses the hydraulic portion of the seat failed to work and got stuck in a upward position no longer allowing the seat to recoil. The seat is a wonderful idea but it does need more engineering & tweaking to make it a more durable product. For $70 you need to get more than one day of usage. The quality of the materials was there it’s not cheaply made it just doesn’t hold up . That being said I contacted Amazon discuss the issue with them my money was refunded the same day.

It gives a tiny boost at best, even when set so high it almost won't go down. I should have returned it but my hip surgery hadn't happened yet so I hung on to it not knowing if its small boost would help me. Turns out I didn't need it at all, the hip is great! This lifter, not so much. Sorry, it just didn't help this guy.
