I am a 68 year old male with a bad back. My wife insists on wearing the same shoes inside and outside the house; walking the same path. But the problem is a seventeen year old yaking cat. Also I am an ex-chemist so I read the ingredients of all the dry powder carpet cleaners. And, basically, they are all the same. And I tried Relsolve along with Capture in my trials. They both worked but Capture has less napthalene odor than Resolve. And while they both cleaned, Capture appeared in my eyes to do slightly better. My tricks for use? First you are going to have to brush it into the carpet. If you sprinkle it on top, you will be disappointed and might as well spend your money for a professional. I sit with my butt on the carpet, spinkle on the powder ensuring that I keep the bucket tighly closed between sprinkles. I use a stiff brush to rub it into the carpet; especially on highly soiled areas. My brush is one that I bought for lead cam stained glass making. I scoot my arse across to the next spot and repeat the process. The second tip is to let the cleaner dry. What you thought this was a dry cleaner? No, it is organic wet or moist. So let it dry. I generally let it dry before I vacumn it up. You can place your hand on the carpet and tell whether it is wet or dry. The third and last tip is to get that blasted powder out of your carpet. Vacumn it over and over again. This powder is going to coat your vacumn and if you have a canister it will send out clouds of powder. Best to empty it outside. Oops forget one last tip, don't use your Eufy or other robotic vacumn cleaner to suck up the Capture dried powder. All you will do is coat the sensors that they never tell you about in the manuals and your robotic vacumn will go psychotic. Sorta like the "Danger, Will Robinson; Danger Will Robinson" robot. This works well on surface dirt and sub-surface dirt as long as you get the powder down to the dirt. It will not clean out color spots created by organic dyes. Especially those that come from the food coloring in pet foods. Why the makers of cat food think we and our pets want organic dyes in our food is beyond me. The best thing you can do for that is to immediately clean the yak with the last clean being one with an light oxidizing agent. My preference is something with Oxyclean in the cleaner and made for carpets (especially use made for capets; NOT hard surfaces). Who knows you might get lucky and break up some of those resonating bonds. ... show more

    • The Product Leaves a Fine Dust

The reasons for my giving this product a 3 star rating. Pro's 1) It does a very nice job in cleaning your carpet that is fact. 2) It does leave a subtle scent after applying and vacuuming per the directions. 3) when using the liquid Spot remover the combination does indeed lift out ground in dirt and spots Con's 1) It leaves a fine dust in the carpet, even after vacuuming the product per the directions I know this for a fact due to the fact I used my Bissell Pro Heat Steam Cleaner directly after vacuuming the product up, and when powering up my Bissell I immediately saw dust flying up off the carpet that had been treated with the product. Thus if you have allergies or sinus issues I would hesitate to use this product. 2) After vacuuming the product up my vacuum motor was effected by the fine dust particles and was much louder. I took the vacuum apart and cleaned it the best I could to save the vacuum. Hence prepare to repair or replace your vacuum after use of this product. I used a bagless Bissell Power Force Vacuum about 4 years old with very limited use. 3) When using my Bissell Pro Heat Steamer the product left a pasty residue in the Extraction side of my tank. Thus the Bissell Power Heat did in fact clean up the majority of the dust left behind embedded in the carpet. Overall the product does what it is advertised to do, however the product definitely has some down sides to it. I would not use this product based on the Con's listed above. If you do not have allergies or sinus problems, and don't mind spending some time cleaning your vacuum after using the product I would recommend the product. It does certainly clean your carpet. However I also know Steam or a Wet style Carpet cleaner does the same job with the only drawback being drying time. ... show more

After contacting numerous carpet cleaners to clean my stairs a friend told me about this product. Spray then add the power I used a small brush to remove the dirt and spots wait 1/2 hour and vacuum. I thought I would have to replace the carpet as it it off white. It came just a clean as when it was installed. I'm hooked. Will never use steam cleaners again! ... show more

Very happy with this product. Easy to use. Very little odor. Really reduced the dirty look in high traffic areas on looped low-pile beige carpeting after 3 years of people and 3 dogs. I think if I repeat, those areas will look really good. Great on eliminating pet odors without any overpowering perfumes covering it up. Saved so much $$ and inconvenience of moving furniture if I hired a professional to clean. Have extra vac bags on hand. You will track the powder all over if you're doing a whole room. I experienced some build up of product in my vacuum, so I had to loosen with a brush and used my air compressor to blow it clean afterwards. Still worth it. ... show more
