    • Very annoying noise, but very Good quality printing

Overall good printer. Super easy to set up, all computers In the house printing with the wireless functionality. Vary similar to the old pixma that lasted 10 years. The only thing I really dislike is the very loud noise it makes when is getting ready to print and turn off. The noise is not during the printing process, is just the set up. Previous pixma we had would do the same but the noise was barely noticeable. This one is so loud I can hear it from other rooms in the house. It gets very annoying. I do like that the tray for printed work opens automatically if you forget to pull it out. The old one did not, so papers would en on the floor... Before powering off, it asks you to confirm if you want to close the tray and reminds you to remove your work. If you hit no, then it stays open so your work doesn’t get damaged. It weights a lot less and takes on a lot less space than the older pixma version we had. I was very happy about that. Printing quality is very good, just like the old one. Ink price is reasonable (other brands were ridiculously expensive). Do note we use it for printing school work as needed and family pictures (we bought photo paper) because I love sending pics to family and friends that live in other countries. I don’t see this as a printer for high volume printing. It is great for what we need. But if you have a need for high volume output with long lasting ink (lower cost per page), then I would not recommend.     • Easy, fast and very reliable to use

Great buy - I am not sure about touch screen , very disappointed when I tried to installed it into computer and an error came up , immediately I got this person on a chat on my screen which made me believed he was going to help me and figured this error message- to me it is a scam since the start but since it was a “canon” Tech I decided to go with it. First he tried to instruct me about the Trojans in my computer was the cause of it and then I asked him how much will that cost me and he said $99.00 he got into my computer so immediately I cut him off and right after I did that I was able to installed the printed in my computer with not problem. I am in love with it because I can print from me cell device omg it’s the best buy I have made through Amazon. Still not sure of how much the ink will last l/cost , but I will see whenever is out. For now I am just enjoying my new printer ... show more

I'm photographer, and I use this to make most of my prints and all of my contact sheets. It's kind of hindering that you can't print anything larger than 8 1/2" by 11", but for the price any thing larger than that would be probably unrealistic. For print quality, I have pretty much no complaints. I print from a Dell laptop and the prints generally come out quite a bit darker than on screen. That could be an issue with my screen, but it's something to keep in mind if you're not working off of a super high quality computer screen (ie a Mac). As long as you know how to compensate for the difference you should be just fine; the prints come out extremely sharp. Another thing to note is that ink cartridges don't last too long on it. I've been printing black and white, and for some reason even the color cartridges' levels have been going down surprisingly fast. So if you plan on making color prints, keeping extra ink cartridges could be wise. Additionally, it would have been nice to have a way to connect the printer with wires. My wireless connection isn't always reliable. However, when my internet isn't causing problems, I don't have a problem printing from a room downstairs from where I have the printer. Overall, though, this is a great, compact printer to get into inkjet printing. I did not use the scanner so I'm not sure how that works. ... show more

I really like this new little printer, its compact, prints legal and photos. I had to use the disc to get it on my laptop, wifi gave me issues but once I finally got everything going it works great. I think if I had just downloaded from the disc all would have worked right out of the box. The tricky thing was printing from my phone. I kept thinking I was getting an error. You have to lift the top lid in the back and put some paper in there and it works. I am very happy with the purchase. ... show more

This is a excellent purchase and I highly recommend it. The setup process was horrible. I never had any problems setting up printers before being a computer technician. I had to call customer service to get some software updates. Then they wanted remote access to my laptop, no way that was happening! After a combination of using the included CD and web site I finally got it working. Recently had to replace ink cartridges after a year and decided to purchase from Canon using the built in low ink pop up message. To purchase a new set of Canon cartridges is $69.00 + taxes with free 7 day shipping. Keep that in mine when you try buying one of those cheap replacement that never work properly. ... show more

This printer is far more complicated and lesser quality overall than my old trusty HP. I threw away $100+ on this printer. After making approximately 150 copies, the print cartridges started to pop up and would not stay down. I had a technician look at it and he could get one of them to stay down by taping it in, but it didn’t work on the others. This is ridiculous! I was expecting more from Canon. I have had HP printers for years now. My last one cost under $150 and I have had it for about 8 years. It is sturdy and easy to use, but with very expensive ink. Last week, it stopped working and being a full time online student, I couldn't play around. I was immediately on Amazon seeing what I could get. I needed something quality, inexpensive and I needed it fast. This Canon was the right price and came fast. The print quality is great, although I haven't tried printing a photo. But there are a few issues. For one, it is made very poorly. It must be treated gingerly or pieces will snap off. Where I trusted my 7 year old to use my HP, I have this one in my bedroom so that the kids won't break it. The "easy" setup is a joke. Neither my phone or my computer would set up through the app or via Bluetooth. I had to do it "old school" by entering the router password into the printer and putting the software disc in the disc drive. My last complaint is that my hp would go into rest mode when not in use, but not turn off. So I could hit print at any time and the printer would wake up and print. It was just frustrating that sometimes the tray wouldn't be out and the papers would fall to the floor. I was very excited when I read that this printer automatically extends the tray when printing. But what it doesn't do is go into rest mode. After a certain amount of time not being used, it turns itself off. So if I need to print, I have to first turn it on....which kind of defeats the purpose of the automatic tray doesn't it. If I'm getting up and walking across the room to turn the printer on, I can pull the tray out too, right? Overall, the printer is working well, but I really miss the rest mode and I am very disappointed in the quality of the unit. The only thing giving me hope is that supposedly, the ink cartridges are much cheaper than what I have been paying for hp. So if I can save $50 per refill, I will put up with the other issues. ... show more
