  • Easy set up, great features, low price.
I haven't owned a printer or a scanner in years, but decided it was finally time. After reviewing a lot of other products, I decided to go with the PIXMA TS5020 because it was economically priced, had a scanner, wireless printing, allowed me to just replace the color ink that I needed and best of all, it was going to be delivered on a Sunday. So I have to say, this thing was a breeze to set up--just make certain you have some printer paper on hand, as it does not come with even a small stack in the box, and you will need paper to complete the set up and calibration. So, really, this was just a plug it in, follow the on screen instructions of removing packaging material, inserting paper, printing a test page, scanning a test page, and then to get it onto the network you need to use the included CD-ROM which allows you to directly connect to the printer to set up the wireless network from your computer--make certain you know your wifi password by heart as it will disconnect your computer from your network while it connects directly to the printer. Whole thing took maybe 10 minutes to complete and be able to print. Printing is fast and high quality, nice sharp images and text. The scanner scans fast, but its a bit noisy, not like, jackhammer outside the window at 7 am noisy, but noisy enough that I was thinking why couldn't they add a bit of soundproofing or some wd-40 to the scanner to make it quieter. Overall, I'd buy this printer again without hesitation. ... show more

  • for the money this is excellent for the money this is excellent
i only use canon and for many years. my old scanner, my dig camera, my printers. i like canon because no matter how long ago my product may have had warranty expired whenever i have had a prob i email canon tech support and they reply without asking you for money. i loved my previous all in one pixma but after about 7 years it died so i searched for canon all in one. i also only use generic ink so before i buy i make sure generic ink is made for model. i hated this printer upon getting it plugged in. i dont connect wifi to my win10 because i dont have need to send docu or photo wirelessly so i have it connected usb( which the opening for plug is VERY HARD TO FIND and plug cord in.) also printer didnt have touch screen as my last pixma...it has arrows on it that you must press. also you had(i thought) to keep chnging size of paper whenever you needed by pressing the damn buttons. i emailed canon to tell them machine sucked and they told me to install the software ..i did...plus i have adobe photo editor on comp and now when i want to print i open it and print from the program and choose size etc. same thing with scan entry. it is very quiet. pictures print darker than what i see on screen so i know now to lighten photo before printing it is also very quiet. i have printed about 20 large size 8x10 prints recently and all ink tanks are only at halfway mark, this is a capable printer .. ... show more

  • Very good overall with one minor glitch
I have been through more than twenty printers over the many years that I've needed them. I have bought and used four different brands that I personally prefer, all for various specific intent and purpose. For the purpose I purchased this particular Canon printer, it has met or exceeded my expectations.......so far. The footprint is modest, print quality is more than adequate, speed is typical of this class and I'm pleased with its overall performance. Being somewhat spoiled from using printers that store paper stock completely within the body of the printer for everyday use, the only thing that I can point to as being a minus toward the functionality of this printer is the stacking and storage of stock that exposes it to dust and humidity that may clog things up in the print head. This feature is not a problem for me in the +$400 range of Canon photo printers as I use them for a specific purpose that requires occasional use and utilizing expensive stock that needs to be carefully stored and handled. In all other ways I'm very satisfied with this printer. ... show more

  • this printer is absolutely one of the best! It was very easy and quick to setup
Of all the Canon printers I have purchased through the years, this printer is absolutely one of the best! It was very easy and quick to setup. I love the compact size which enables me to have it on my desk beside my computer instead of on a stand by itself. Although it is a smaller printer, it prints fast and has wonderful color. I particularly like that it has 5 separate ink cartridges that allows me to only replace an ink as needed. I had a paper jam yesterday and was amazed how easy it was to find and fix the issue using the instructions in the online manual. It is a great printer and I highly recommend it for a small business office or home use. ... show more

  • Terrible design, wifi issue with Win10
Just awful. First, wireless connection repeatedly goes out. Went through it with Canon tech support. Uninstalled drivers and reinstalled. Took it step by step. Works fine - initially. Then, without warning, will cycle page after page of blank paper. Canon tech support thinks it may be an issue with Win10. Ok, when will you have a patch? No patches offered until "enough" customers complain. How many is "enough"? How many have already complained? Can't tell me what number is "enough". All he could say is "a few" customers have complained. Great! Anyone affected has to wait for "enough" people to complain in order to get the patch that will allow them to use wireless. Switched to USB printer cable (Canon doesn't provide, so additional expense because they have no patch for the wireless problem). Installing USB cable is a challenge because port is on an angle and in a very tight space. If your fingers are adult sized, call your kids. My nine year old's fingers were the only ones that fit. Paper is loaded from back which is inconvenient if you have the printer's front facing you, like most people do. What's worse is it is a very small opening, so you can only use a small amount of paper. But it gets even worse!! You need to lift a plastic guard to fit the paper into the tray. Every time you do that, you need to confirm paper size on the screen of the printer itself. It's NOT a touchscreen. So, you need to use the arrows to toggle through the options. So, you get a small amount of paper, which means you need to refill a LOT and then you need to reset the setting each time. Brilliant!!! Who doesn't want to waste tons of time refilling the paper tray and reconfirming the settings!!! What idiot designed this? If you're buying it for your kid to print some homework or you print a page or two at a time, it's a functional printer. If you use Windows10 and need a wireless connection and/or you print a lot of pages/pictures, you will hate with this printer. Honestly, it feels like a Junior High student designed this disaster for a science fair project. Normally, I would want to give this no stars. Yes, I know Amazon doesn't let us do that. But, I can give this one star simply because Canon has moved their tech support to the USA. The guy I spoke with understood English!!! I almost got up and did a dance of joy. Yes, he wasn't able to help with the wifi problem, but that's not his fault. He's customer service and he can only offer what Canon has available and they don't have a patch for the wifi problem. It was just such a delight to be able to understood the tech support rep, to have him understand me, to not have to spell "big" words like "driver" and not have to explain that, no, I'm not talking about my car. As much of an engineering cowpie this printer is, I have to applaud Canon for moving tech support back to the US. It DOES make a difference!!! It was such a relief to not have to spend an hour on the phone asking for someone who understood basic English. Thank you for that, Canon. Now, please, go fire the buffoons that designed this printer. ... show more

  • Fits the Bill!
I gave it 5 Stars based on my usage. If your need is similair to mine.... printing recites occasional photos 3 to 4 times a week this Printer fits the bill. Easy to use with the cannon AP. Easy set up. Just follow the instruction on the printer screen. The You tube video recommended and the AP instructions and the written instructions slowed the process down. Just plug it in to you 110v outlet hook it up directly to your router or just use your WIFI. Follow the intruction on the printer screen. Its basically a no brainer. The quality of photos printed on standard paper is pretty amazing. Ink from Cannon kinda spendy but other options are available. I consider this purchase a great bargain. Cheers ... show more

Excellent printer! The straight feed Rear-feeder was perfect for wedding invitation envelopes. They came through perfectly without being bent. It also handles small sized (pre-cut) card stock very well. It says the smallest size is 4x3, I believe, but we were able to use it for smaller pieces if we did small batches and watched the alignment as they went through the printer. This is similar to the previous version, except Canon has added the rear-feeder which was the main complaint from the earlier model. This model also comes with ink. Set-up took 5 minutes and it has been easy to use since. Print speed also seems very fast, though that wasn't my main concern. I bought it for wedding invitations and it has done an excellent job. Everything looks very professional. ... show more

  • Just an OK printer. It's a little fussy, but will manage compared to my broken Canon MX922.
My Canon MX922 crapped out this week after a solid 2-3 years with the B200 error code. I called Canon Customer Service to question where to get printer repaired. They politely told me it would be cheaper to buy a new printer than to fix the old one. Sad because the MX922 worked much more effectively as an automatic wireless printer. This printer TS5020 is a bit needy.. requires you to pull open the tray and loading the paper is another story... It will do it's job of printing things for school, but holding on to my MX922 as it is still being manufactured! I think the MX922 is worth the extra $30 dollars rather than getting this printer, but if you're on a budget this one works. ... show more
