  • excellent printer for my needs
Style: High Speed Printer
Prior to purchasing this printer, I had two others from a different famous brand which both had part failures. This happened after fairly light use, but shortly after the warranties expired. Besides that, they used expensive ink cartridges, and they both failed (for different reasons) when I had a practically new ink cartridge installed. Very frustrating! This new Canon printer, which has ink tanks and is filled with liquid ink from bottles, is faster and has better print quality by far compared to my two previous printers. It was very simple to set it up and get it connected to Wi-Fi, my laptop, and phone. It was up and running flawlessly within 10-15 minutes after I got it out of the box. I have used it quite a bit, and the ink levels are still high. I am far from needing to buy new ink, and when I eventually do need to refill, doing so will be far cheaper. I recommend this printer. Ditch those costly ink cartridges! You'll be glad you did! My only minor complaint is that the menu display window is rather small. Still, 5 stars. ... show more

  • Game Changer Game Changer
Style: High Speed Printer
I had an older model Canon printer, also 3-1, that used ink cartridges. Im a trainer for the courts and our team prepares binders for our trainees. I, many times, print from home. Decided to upgrade to this Canon GX3020 that uses liquid ink. Best decision. The printing is faster, the cost for the liquid ink is cheaper, and Im able to print out tons of work without running out. To give an example, one binder is about 637 pages. I just did 4 binders and haven’t used even half of the ink supply (pictures enclosed). The older Canon printer would have run out at least 2 times during the process. The quality of the prints is really good too. I was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend this printer for a home office or small business. ... show more

  • Poorer build quality than expected/won't print borderless
Style: High Speed Printer
I previously owned a slower Canon ink-tank printer, but the print quality was excellent. I liked it, it worked well, and the build quality felt superior. This newer machine is much more expensive and definitely faster, but the build quality is not as good. I also do not like that it cannot print borderless photos, which I should have paid closer attention to before buying. As a result, every photo I print has a border, which is unacceptable and not what I wanted. At this point, returning it feels like too much work. The printer is quick, but the print quality has suffered. With my previous ink-tank printer, even standard quality produced good results. With this machine, standard quality shows a slight waviness in the text, which is not acceptable on a brand-new printer. Within the first 1,000 pages, it started jamming during double-sided printing. That is not entirely unusual for a printer of this size, but I expected better reliability right out of the gate. The rear access cover used to clear jams is not attached, so it has to be removed completely and could easily be lost. The front output tray also sticks and is difficult to pull out, and the paper tray feels flimsy and low-quality. Overall, this is not what I expected from a printer that costs about three times as much as its predecessor. ... show more

  • Error codes galore!
Style: High Speed Printer
This Canon was my first non-HP printer. Setup was typical, and the first uses right after setup the printer had very good quality output. Two days later when I tried to use it again, powered it on and got error codes 6900, 6701, and 1401. Followed the online guidance from Canon with the same resulting error codes. Contacted Canon via online chat to see if there was anything else I could do to fix the printer, and was promptly sent to a link where I was asked to PAY for Canon tech support!! I closed the link, boxed up the printer, and the defective item will be returned. Ordered a new HP printer, so expect better outcome going back to HP. ... show more

  • PIGMENT-based ink is archival! PIGMENT-based ink is archival!
Style: High Speed Printer
NOTE: This printer now comes with pigment-based ink. Not all Maxify printers are such with all four colors being pigment, so read on to see why this is so important. Running a photography/fine art business leaves us no room for error with our prints fading from moisture or UV light, so after much research we made the decision to go with pigment-based ink. Pigment ink is more expensive but we're seeing great efficiency with this eco-tank printer. "Pigment inks tend to be lighter in colour than dye they are more water-resistant while producing a truer solid black than dye. Especially when the label is exposed to UV light for many months, the pigment ink holds its colour, quality and vibrancy better than dye. Speaking of water resistance and long life durability plus colour consistency the winner is pigment ink. Archival ink is far more resistant to fading than other dye-based inks. The combination of pigments and superior paper quality constitutes their “archival” status. Archival ink prints offer greater scratch resistance and color stability as well. Pigment-based inks lead to significant longevity, as they’re made from finely ground powders suspended in a liquid. The inks aren’t water-soluble; they dry quicker, and bind with the paper fibers to make them highly resistant to fading." Thanks for your time! P.S. It's strongly recommended to use pigment bottles directly from Canon, you'll need GI-26 BMCY ecotank bottles. Do NOT use generic or compatible inks. ... show more

  • Nice inkjet printer - lame screen
Style: High Speed Printer
Got this printer to replace an old & tired HP inkjet. First time to use an ink tank printer, and this Canon is impressive. Super easy and quick to fill all the tanks, zero spills. Prints are nice and crisp with good color. Cost to print should be much, much lower than any previous color printer I've owned. The one glaring downside is the ultra tiny, nearly illegible display screen. Last I checked, this was the year 2023. That screen is THE most pathetic excuse I have ever seen on any product, ever. Shameful is what it is. Is Canon serious?!?! Horrible in every aspect. Thankfully, you don't need to use the screen all that often. That is why I could not give this printer 5 stars. Other than that abomination of a screen, I'm happy with how the printer functions. One other note.. the default of this printer is to shut off after so many hours. Problem is, if you try and print to it after it's off, you'll get an error (can't comm. with printer). EVERY other printer I've owned, the default was to come out of sleep once any data is sent to the printer - and just print. Not with this Canon! You have to go into the Remote UI and change the settings to make that happen. ... show more

  • Great for the price
Style: High Speed Printer
Needed a new printer where I didn’t need to clean the heads every time I used it. This seems to fit the bill. It prints great and it hooked up to the Bluetooth right away.
