  • Great Value, Reliable Performance, and Zero Cartridge Hassle
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
The Canon MegaTank MAXIFY GX2020 has been a fantastic addition to my home setup. Print quality is excellent across the board—documents are crisp, photos look surprisingly good for an office‑focused machine, and scanning is clean and accurate. What really sets this printer apart is the MegaTank system. The refillable tanks make ink costs dramatically lower than traditional cartridges, and it’s great knowing I won’t be constantly buying replacements. Setup was straightforward, and I’ve had zero issues with connectivity. Mine is hard‑wired to the router, and both my phone and laptop print over Wi‑Fi without any hiccups. Paper handling has also been flawless so far—no jams, no misfeeds, just smooth operation. For anyone looking for a dependable all‑in‑one that delivers quality output and saves money on ink, the GX2020 is an excellent choice. It’s compact, efficient, and a genuinely good value. ... show more

  • Highly recommended Canon Maxify GX2020
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
I have done a lot of research on ink tank printers and landed on the Canon Maxify GX2020. I was so tired of replacing my HP cartridges that never seemed to last. Also HP doesn’t allow off brand cartridges to be used so goodbye HP. After using for several weeks, I couldn’t be more happier with my purchase. The set up was extremely easy on my Mac computers. Once I downloaded the app on my iPhone, that was also a seamless process to hook up. Printing from my computer or from my iPhone phone via WiFi is extremely efficient. The tray holds over 250 sheets of paper, and you can print scan and fax from the computer. I’ve been printing for several weeks and haven’t even noticed the ink level go down. The printer is quiet and is much faster than most ancient printers. I have not had a single paper jam and not have any problems since I started using it. The printer and color quality seems very good. I would highly recommend this printer as a reasonable priced ink tank printer. ... show more

  • I Bought a Printer, Not an Invisible Ink Spy Machine 😅
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
I purchased the Canon MegaTank MAXIFY GX2020 All-in-One Wireless Color Printer on July 12, 2024, largely because I’ve had consistently good experiences with Canon printers in the past. I’ve always found them reliable, easy to use, and capable of producing great-looking documents and photos. Unfortunately, this one has been a major disappointment. Right out of the gate, everything seemed promising. Setup was straightforward, and it connected to my home Wi-Fi network without any drama. The scanning function works very well—clear, sharp scans with no issues there. If I only needed a scanner, I’d be thrilled. But as a printer? Not so much. The biggest issue is that it simply won’t print most colors. I’ve run the deep cleaning function multiple times—more than I’d like to admit—and watched a painful amount of ink get used up in the process. Despite all that wasted ink, the ink still refuses to show up properly. As you can imagine, that makes documents look off and photos completely unusable. Skies turn grayish, water looks strange, and anything requiring accurate color balance is just… wrong. It’s frustrating because the MegaTank system is supposed to be economical with ink, but repeated deep cleanings have already eaten into that benefit. At this point, I’ve spent more time troubleshooting than actually printing. Given my positive history with Canon, I’m especially disappointed. I expected dependable color performance, and instead I’ve got a printer that seems to have a grudge against . . . well, printing. If you need a solid scanner and a decent grayish-and-something printer, this might work for you. But if actual color printing matters, especially for photos, this unit has been a bust for me. ... show more

  • A true review
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
I’ve been using the Canon MegaTank MAXIFY GX2020 for a few months now, and I’m genuinely impressed with how well it performs across the board. Setup was straightforward it walked me through each step right on the touchscreen, and within minutes, I had it connected to Wi-Fi and ready to print from my laptop and phone. The build quality feels solid, and the compact design fits nicely on my desk without taking up too much space. The print quality is excellent crisp text, deep blacks, and vibrant colors, whether I’m printing business documents, marketing materials, or the occasional photo. The speed is surprisingly fast for an inkjet, and it handles double-sided printing automatically, which saves both time and paper. What really makes this printer stand out is the MegaTank system. The refillable ink tanks are a game-changer. Instead of constantly buying expensive cartridges, I just top off the tanks when needed and after hundreds of pages, I’ve barely made a dent in the ink levels. It’s economical, eco-friendly, and ideal for anyone who prints frequently. The scanner and copier functions are equally smooth. The automatic document feeder is convenient for multi-page scans, and the quality remains sharp. I’ve used the Canon PRINT app for remote printing, and it’s intuitive I can print straight from my phone, even when I’m not home. Overall, this printer delivers professional-grade performance for both home and small office use. Between the low cost per page, impressive quality, and reliable wireless features, the Canon MAXIFY GX2020 easily earns a solid five stars from me. It’s one of those devices that just works efficiently, quietly, and consistently every time. Highly recommended for anyone tired of overpriced cartridges or unreliable printers. ... show more

  • Not great with cardstock UPDATED REVIEW
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
Updated January 2025: After using the printer for 6 months, I have discovered that if you print on card stock one side at a time instead of duplex, it doesn’t come out with the curl. We printed over 100 Christmas cards and they came out fine this way. Print quality is decent. After 6 months of use and printing hundreds of pages, most in color, the ink levels are down by only about 1/3! The printer is loud and makes odd noises but seems to be working fine. Overall rating 4 stars. End of update. I purchased this printer to replace my years-old Canon MX922 (best printer ever!). I specifically bought the new GX2020 to handle cardstock, since I print on it frequently. Every piece of cardstock I have printed on has come out with a very pronounced curl, which does not resolve even after drying. In addition, when printing on cardstock, I recommend using the standard print setting, not the high quality. When printing cardstock in high quality, there are many streaks and smudges on the card. Printing cardstock with standard print setting yields acceptable results, although still with the curl. The other functions of the GX2020 work well and give great results when printing on plain paper. Text and images are sharp and colors are very good. Two-sided printing works well also. Scanning and copying are easy and give good results. Two-sided scanning takes a little work, but is not too bad. Photo printing on glossy paper was adequate but not great. The liquid ink seems like it will be a great money saver compared to individual ink tanks like the MX922 used. The associated app for printing and scanning from a phone works well on my spouse's Android. It did not work on the iPhone but I can print using Apple print, so I deleted the app. Overall, I'd give the printer a 4 star rating for everyday printing, although I am disappointed that the main purpose I bought it for is not satisfactory which is why I am giving it 3 stars. ... show more

  • Ink hog really bad
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
I absolutely love this but it seems to be an ink hog it’s still new we’ve only printed about 10 pages is pushing it and we are down two black inks near empty and I mean shake it add water to get it all kind of low just showing on the bottom edge and all other colors are not printing right shows sign of no ink but we haven’t been prompted to buy more yet the first prints were amazing but what I love about it is it actually works I’ve tried every brand this is my first canon anything but it came highly recommended I just wish these companies would stop with never enough ink full ink prints beautifully then it starts looking ink less printing it is super easy to set up and use no connectivity problems it’s WiFi it’s built Durability, color quality is perfect while you get it. No paper jams the features I’m not at all techy I’m 57 and missing the old home phone and dial up modem this was so easy for me to set up it has a lot of features I just don’t know what I’m doing anymore. I haven’t figured out if it has a grey scale option I would choose that. But again I am technically retarded in the truest sense of the word. Crazy easy connectivity like I said I set it up it was that easy ... show more

  • Very nice printer
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
Easy setup, does very nice pictures, not very much colored ink, but at least it's better than a tiny cartridge. Canon colored inks have changed over the years where they yield less and less pictures per cartridge. At one time I bought a very expensive Canon printer and I printed 170 picture on one set of cartridges. Today's cartridges you cannot do that. Everytime I buy a new printer, I get less and less pictures. This new printer will help get more pictures without buying loads of cartridges. The operation of the printer is pretty much straight forward with no surprises or gotchas . I've had no paper jams. The paper tray adjustments are very stiff and difficult to slide back and forth. Kinda frustrating at times. Installing the printer heads was easy. But, opening up the top cover was difficult. No instructions on how to open the print head carrier. You have to wing it and hopefully you don't break something. The print heads are 100 percent replaceable if they go bad . Going on past use of Canon printers. You need to use Canon photo paper for the best results. Using other brands of photo paper the colors might look off. Warning for anyone who buys this printer. The black ink tank doesn't last very long. Canon designed this with relatively small ink tanks. ... show more

  • Wireless use is a major, major hassle
Style: Print, Copy, Scan & Fax
I haven't used this enough to comment on longevity or overall print quality. I can say that getting this thing up and running wirelessly is a truly major, time consuming hassle. Whether using direct connect or wi-fi, it's always a guessing game as to when and why a connection will be established between my laptop PC (Windows 11) and the printer. Getting a connection the first time took hours, and every single time I try to use the printer for scanning or printing I have to go through this huge fight: trying again and again in different ways to establish the connection. I still don't know why the thing finally connects, but it always involves running a troubleshooter and checking settings, and restarts and on and on. I had planned to use this wired, and look forward to that day. This may be a great all-in-one, but if you plan to use this wirelessly, don't. Save yourself hours and hours of stress by picking another printer. ... show more
