  • Great so far
Style: GX6020
Edit May '22: I'm so sad to have to edit this review. This printer was fantastic for a whopping 2 1/2 months, then it just died. Stopped working, and whatever the error message was, the support guy said it wasn't fixable. Said with some of these error messages it doesn't even tell them what the issue really is, it just can't be fixed. But it was under warranty so they sent me a replacement. The problem is, the replacement isn't working. I can't install the drivers - it keeps giving me some fatal error message. When I called the support number it said to call for this issue, I got a guy who I could barely understand, and the guy was almost rude. He said this was a fairly rare issue, and the problem is with our tech (laptops and/or router) - he said the drivers won't install b/c we have viruses/malware. When I explained to him that we use a pricey and industry-leading internet/software security package, and that we have had no problem installing software drivers for 2 other printers and myriad other devices, he just kept talking in circles. He said they have a team that can fix it for us....for a charge. What a joke, I told him forget it and just refund me and I'll find another printer. Which of course he said he couldn't do, and started talking in circles again. I asked to speak with a manager and he said he'd request a manager call me back - more than a week later and I've received no response. What a shame...is there anyone out there who makes a good multifunction printer and can support it???? I sure can't recommend this product. 2 1/2 months. Awful. I've basically been forced to become a connoisseur of all-in-one printers over the past 3-4 years, and it has been a frustrating experience. I’m making this sort of an overview of the class from a small business perspective, as it might save some buyers having to learn about them the hard way (long). Full transparency: I refuse to buy HP again, even though their quality is better than most at the level I shop. I own a small business with 2 locations, and we're not very tech heavy so we typically just had 1-2 HP Officejet Pro All-in-Ones for a number of years (typically the 8600 or 8700 series). Those printers were solid and initially (10+ years ago) fulfilled our needs easily. I'd spend between $250-$300 on them, they'd last a long time, and I would buy remanufactured ink from a high-quality seller. Then over the years HP started selling the printers cheaper, giving them away almost, but kept finding creative ways to block remanufactured ink so they could over-charge and make their money on the ink monopoly. After a while I gave up on the remanufactured inks b/c half would consistently need to be sent back for a new chip due to HP's updates, so I finally tried their HP Instant Ink program. It's ridiculous how they talk about how much they "saved' me in this program, as I was spending 10x more every month than I would with remanuf. Ink (often spending more than $100/mo). All this, and the quality of HP's printers kept going down. If they spent half as much time working on making good printers as they did trying to secure an ink monopoly, their products would be unbelievable. So I finally had enough, swore I would never buy an HP printer again, and started researching alternatives. Most of the alternatives had poor reviews, but the Epson Ecotanks caught my eye and I decided to give them a shot. I have bought 2-3 of the original EcoTank ET-4760 Supertank all-in-ones, and initially I gave them a great review. I was amazed at how easy and safe the refill system ended up being - very smart technology - and the price was fair. The printers themselves were pricey (around or just under $500), but I had said for years (with regards to HP) to "charge me what you need to charge me on the printer (don't give it away) and let me find ink that's not a ripoff." But here's the reality on Epson ET-4760: - The print quality is average at best. It was fine for our needs, but you wouldn't like it if you were producing marketing materials or something where sharpness and quality are important. The HP Officejet Pro's from 10 years ago produced higher quality prints, but these are good enough for most uses. - The machines themselves are well built and last. I've had the first for 3-4+ years and the 2nd for 2-3+ years, and we've had almost no problems. They keep humming along, and the only occasional upkeep required is replacing the maintenance box. I've only had to do it once so far on each machine and it was easy. - But by far the biggest issue with them from my experience, is their network/wifi range is terrible. Both my locations are in small spaces, and there is a printer in the front office (sitting next to the router), and another 1-2 rooms back, less than 50 feet away, and they don’t work for me in the back room. I actually bought the upgraded 5170, and when that didn’t work at all I returned it for a 3rd of these, and it was the same thing. I’d start a 30-copy print job (simple, single-page document) and the job still wasn’t halfway completed 2 hours later most times. Often it just timed out and you had to cancel the job. I couldn’t understand it, and after countless support calls between the 2 attempts, I actually had one of their tech support reps tell me “they’re not really designed to be more than 5-6 feet from the router.” I said, “I’ve seen these advertised as small business printers, and you’re telling me they’re unlikely to work if they’re not in the same room as the router? Are you kidding me?” Unbelievable. So after 6 months of bottlenecks and frustrations, I just replaced the Epson(s) I had in the back with this Maxify Canon GX6020. It was even pricier at $650, but only $80 more than the Epson Ecojet 5170, and $150 more than the 4760. And it’s really less than that, as they throw in 2 extra black ink bottles. So maybe $10-20 more than the Epson 5170, and $80 less than the 4760 when you take that into consideration. I’m only 3 weeks in, but I’ve had zero issues with connectivity and printing on demand with this Canon. And honestly, the print quality is much better, it’s considerably faster, and it’s much quieter. The ink technology is identical to the Epson EcoTanks as well, piece of cake. And as many have stated in other reviews, the setup was quick and easy. Very impressed and happy with this printer thus far, just hope it lasts. ... show more

  • Best Printer I've Had for the Price
Style: GX6020
I was nervous as I've only ever had HP products, but this got a lot of good write-ups. Arrived intact. Easy setup if you follow the directions. I used a USB cable for the desktop and WiFi for the laptop. Ink fill was easy. Paper Tray and back side Envelope Tray is easy to load. I have Win 10. First thing I did was delete my old HP printer apps from the desktop and the laptop. Then I went to CanonUSA.com and downloaded the drivers. The wired connection was instant. The WiFi connection needs you to find your router on the printer then, on the laptop, Discover New Printer on WiFi. Test pages were perfect. I've now been using this Canon GX6020 for two months. Maybe 50 pages and 10 envelopes. Perfect in Economy and Standard ink quality settings; perfect in paper feed. Printer feels solid. So, seems exactly as advertised. One annoying feature is, the power times out (maybe 4 hours) and shuts the printer off. So, you need to turn it on each day or session to use it. Start up needs about 30 seconds. I'd recommend this for home office and student needs. ... show more

  • physical set up great. wifi set up stinks.
Style: GX6020
Setting up the printer parts and ink - easy and straight forward. Trying to connect to my wifi... holy jeezus. I might as well be trying to repaint the mona lisa with finger paints. I've been at it for over an hour and it just won't connect. Irritating as hell. I'm about 2 seconds away from returning this piece of junk. ... show more

  • Best printer that I have owned
Style: GX6020
I purchased this multi-function printer several months ago, and could not be happier with the decision. I am a careful shopper and read a lot of reviews, especially when considering an electronics purchase. I have owned Canon printers for many years, and this one is the best that I have owned. The printer was easy and intuitive to set up, and it has worked reliably since I purchased it. The feature that I like best is the "Mega Tank" ink wells. The ink seems to last forever, and I no longer need to change ink cartridges constantly. It almost feels like I was able to "set it and forget it," though that is not literally the case. I do not print photos, so I cannot comment on that feature, but I will say that the printer is quite fast when printing documents. The photocopying and scanning features also work well. ... show more

  • Love This Printer
Style: GX6020
I've only had the printer for a week, but so far it's the best printer I've ever owned. Setup was super simple; ink was easy to install and it connected quickly to my wireless network. The quality of the printer, just from the feel and fit, is very good. I've printed about 100 pages so far with no issues, scanner works well too along with the ADF. I'm able to print from my laptop, IPad, and Iphone more easily then with my prior printer. The printer turns itself off after a bit, but there is a setting where you can change that if you want it on all the time. Best of all, no more expensive ink cartridges. ... show more

  • Ink Caution
Style: GX6020
Great little printer. Bought this after having a commercial printer for 20 years. Works fine on regular white paper (although black is not a true black—I’d say it’s 85% black). Be cautioned that when I used specialty paper (pearlescent) the ink needed time to dry or else it smears. So that means I couldn’t use two-sided printing. I had to let the ink dry for 20 minutes on side 1, then print the second side. ... show more

  • Best printer ever!!!
Style: GX6020
This is a review for the GX6020. I have printed about 800 photos. Not once did it jam. The photos came out great and I still have 3/4 of my ink left. Set up was really easy and tasks were easy to complete. I bought an Espon printer that I had to return. It would not connect to my wifi. This printer had no problem with connecting. I couldn't get the Espon to scan. Not a problem with this printer. Also the Espon put black streaks on my copies. It was a brand new printer that cost me $1,000. Not a problem with this printer. You will not regret buying this printer. ... show more
