Took me two days to get up the nerve to begin with this printer. On a Saturday night I opened the box and did as much setup as I could. 6 hours. Nothing. I'm clueless with software. With instructions. Tuesday I called Canon Tech Support. About an hour to walk me through a setup that was too easy with Tech Support guiding the way. Tech Support was really great!! A half-hour wait because of the quarantines, work-from-home, then it flew like a leaf in the wind. The two-day delay gave the printer plenty of time to go online and set itself up, correct the stuff I had done wrong. Tech Support and I connected two Mac Mini computers wirelessly, ran a test (pictures) print from each computer. Pictures are fantastic. Look just like the back-lighted pics on the monitor screens! Now, a few days later I have printed out a dozen documents I needed and the print and the color icons on those documents are sharp and beautiful. I spent almost two months searching and evaluating printers online and reading the vast number of reviews. This Canon imageCLASS 622 Cdw seems to be worth the effort. Print time blew me away. I am accustomed to a Canon MX850 and a Canon MX922. Click on the "print" button, wait, noise, wait, noise, slowly the printed page emerges from the front of those printers. So I clicked "print" for this imageCLASS 622 Cdw and in about 5 seconds I heard the noise. Then nothing. I looked to see what happened. It had printed the document a long time ago is what happened. Document sitting waiting on top of the printer. Printed on both sides. Love it. A document with several pages prints so quickly it seems like only one page printed. I print on standard US Letter 8 1/2 x 11, 20 pound printer paper which works well in this printer. I have seen other laser printers that only printed one side; the backs of the pages were burned too much to print on the 'other sides.'. I am delighted with this printer that it does everything I want and more. Printer is only about ten inches high with the control module sticking up another inch. Footprint about 17 inches square fits nicely where my previous printer had been and no problem with only 18 inches clearance for the shelf it needs to set on. I am delighted with this printer!!!!! No scanner or document feeder. I do not ever need a document feeder. Sometimes I need a scanner. I will buy a Canon ink-tank printer when the pandemic is over and will get one with a scanner. If a scanner was a biggie, a separate flat-bed scanner is very nice. Had one once, long ago. Sometimes I miss being able to do what that ancient scanner could do. New independent scanners with the latest software should be really fun to work with. Bottom line: Easy to use printer that makes gorgeous pictures and printed documents. Canon Tech Support was easy to work with and wonderful.

I’ve had this printer for about 8 months now so I feel I can write an honest review. First of all, I’ve always had inkjet printers and I was so sick of spending $100 on a printer and another $60 on ink just for the print heads to dry up and have a useless printer. I don’t print often so that was the main reason for the print heads drying up. I wanted a printer that wasn’t going to give me that same issue. After a lot of research, this printer seemed to be the best quality that had the best price. I also looked into toner refills as that was also a concern of my. You can buy a cheap printer and pay tons for the ink or toner refills. This printer prints fast and beautifully. I have printed photos as have my kids, documents, charts etc. I have yet to try photo paper but from my understanding, it will work but make sure you buy paper compatible with laser printers and not ink jet printers. Since laser printers use heat to melt the toner onto the page, you risk destroying your entire printer by using the wrong paper! Another thing I love is that myself and my kids can download the app and print whatever we want to the printer from our devices. They printed tons of pics of anime characters and their own art. Quality again is excellent. The toner cartridges aren’t an arm and a leg! I purchased two off brand boxes that contain all the colors for about $40-60. Considering the toner that comes in the printer to start with is still going strong (black is currently running low though ), I’d say it lasts a while! I believe it’s around 3,000 pages or so of prints that you get with a complete set of toner. We are on month 8 so I’d say that’s a good chunk of time without having to replace anything yet!! I did have a couple issues with the printer but nothing that makes me regret buying it. 1. Once it’s done printing, it’s very noisy for about 30 seconds or so to re-adjust it’s self in preparation for the next time you use it. Not a big deal, but annoying. 2. The printer it’s self is kind of loud. I didn’t realize how loud it was until I was on the phone and my kids used it as I was sitting right next to it. Again, annoying but not a deal breaker. 3. I have had issues with it disconnecting from my Mac computer. I’m not sure why this happens and I saw other people complain about the wifi issue as well, so when it acts up, I simply remove and re add the printer to my computer (just a few clicks of a button) and then it seems fine. Could be a Mac issue or the printer software but it’s been fine as of lately. 4. Lastly, (and this could be user error) I cannot figure out how to shrink the images I do print. I sell items on Poshmark sometimes and when I print the shipping label, it takes up an entire 8x11 piece of paper which is ridiculous. I’m sure there’s a way to change this but I don’t know how and haven’t figured it out. Overall, I’m so glad I bought this printer. I started working from home due to Covid and needed a way to print documents. I’ve been wanting to invest in a laser printer for years but just never made the jump. I’m soooo glad I finally did! I do with this printer had a scanner but I knew the price reflected that. If I wanted a scanned or fax or any of the other stuff, it would have definitely cost more money and those were features I was willing to go without. I highly recommend this printer for anyone wanting to invest but is scared of choosing the wrong one! Canon is a great brand and this printer is excellent quality!!

First, a hearty agreement with those reviewers say the printer is large, heavy and (apparently) well made. The print quality is excellent. I was attracted to this printer because a complete set of second-source toner cartridges costs only slightly more than a complete set of second-source inkjet cartridges for my Epson XP-7100. As far as installation, it went smoothly on our Win 7 desktop computers. My Win 10 laptop was a different story. I had to call customer support for help on that one. As others have indicated, Customer Support at Canon is a harrowing experience. As, apparently, is usual, the call started by saying that I had a wait time of over an hour. It turned out to be 2 hours and a few seconds. I agree that this is an unacceptable level of customer support. The man who helped me, however, knew what he was doing and not only got the LBP622Cdw printer responding to my laptop, but did the same for a Canon LBP6230dw that I’ve had for some time and which had exactly the same problem. I had a horrible time trying to get the printer set up for booklet printing and the support from Canon was only a little help. What he said that helped was that if the print preview is not right the print job will not be right. This turned out not to be exactly right, however. When I was finally able to print the booklet correctly and I zoomed out enough from the preview page I was able to see pages 1 and 2 side by side. Beneath them were pages 3 and 4 side by side – then 5 and 6 below them. If you were printing a 16 page booklet, for example, you would like to see pages 1 and 16 side by side on one side of the paper and pages 2 and 15 on the other side. Yet the preview I described first is the one that actually produced the desired printout. The real joker in the deck is that when you click “Printer Properties” on the print page it takes you to a dialog box in which you would (naturally) select “booklet printing”. And my taking that “obvious” step accounts for the hours I spent trying to get it to print right. I had to select 2 sided printing in that printer dialog, rather than “booklet printing”. One reviewer said that he was unable to get heavy paper to go through the printer. That was far from true for me. I measure 20 weight paper as being .004” thick. I have been running matte photo paper through the printer with no problem and it measures .011” – almost three times as thick. Although I’m very pleased with the printer at this point, one thing sticks in my craw – not only about this printer but about all Canon printers. After a long period of disuse (several days) they sometimes take themselves offline. There is apparently no way to put them back online. Sometimes rebooting the printer helps. At other times it does not. Likewise, when they say they have an error there is no way to zero in on what the error is or how to bring the printer back online. The support agent confirmed that this is so and I think it is abominable. This is why I’m giving the printer 4 stars instead of five.

Yes, like many of you, I have tolerated ink jet printers ever since the dawn of the computer era began … well, before that it was the impact printer which would print carbon copies. But, I'm dating myself. Ink jet printers were okay … did the job … but if I wanted a real quality print I would have to save my work on a thumb drive and truck on down to the library to use their laser printers at 50 cents per page. Not very convenient. THEN … Corona Virus shut down our libraries, so I'm completely stuck, unable to complete my project. So, I finally bit the bullet and bought this marvelous printer, after having done hours of research, reading reviews, ad nauseum. Sure, there are a number of negative reviews for this printer. And for all printers to be honest. But trust me when I tell you this: If "I" can set this printer up on a wireless network, ANY idiot can do it !! On Page 7 of the "Getting Started" booklet that comes with the printer, there is a very helpful hint. In a box it says: "To view a video guide on the process" … and guides me to a website with a step-by-step, easy-to-follow video that literally walks me through the process. No tearing out my hair. No crying. No cussing. No calling my tech-wizard son for help !! I did hold my breath a few times there, just not trusting myself to have done it right but Holy Moly … there she goes !! First print … PERFECT !! And FAST !! Then I tried double-sided printing … Oh My Goodness … it prints both sides of the page IN BEAUTIFUL COLOR … in like 2 seconds. I have ordered a high-speed USB cable just because I'm still a little bit paranoid about sending my data up to Never-Never-Land in the Cloud, especially if it is a sensitive document, but meanwhile wireless printing is flawless. The only con is getting this mother out of the box. Holy Smokes … Unless you're a weight lifter, plan on having an extra set of hands. Between the weight of it, the bulk, and the massive quantities of Styrofoam to protect it, I could not do it alone. Once out of the box, I had it up and printing in under 2 hours. But, I took my time and watched the set-up video repeatedly before I began. YOU could probably do it in 30 minutes. Do yourself a favor. Order this printer. It's my Mother's Day gift to myself. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ME !! ======================= ONE WEEK LATER … My review above evidently was premature … It quit printing for no apparent reason. I tried everything in and out of the book. Finally as a last resort, I called Canon Tech Support. The man was helpful, patient, knowledgeable and very kindly walked me through some setup steps I had missed. Now she works like a charm. FAST, dependable and absolutely flawless beautiful prints.

Wanted to replace my Brother color laser printer since it is several years old and needs new cartridges. Bought the Cannon printer which was a big mistake. The printer came well packaged and included a "Getting Started" guide. Was able to connect to my network without problem and after that, nothing has been satisfactory. Start with the items listed in the guide which includes an unnamed part, continue with putting paper in the printer. This should be easy but the guide fails to mention that the tray expands for legal size and that the unnamed part is a dust shield to be placed over the extended tray when legal sized paper is used. I eventually found the tray expansion feature and use of the unnamed part in a downloaded owner's manual (nearly 500 pages!). Included in the description is a lock lever that keeps the tray in letter form unless legal is desired - it doesn't work. While going through the setup menu, the customer is brought to a difficult to exit set-up for automatic toner renewal. Apparently Canon is more interested in selling toner than it is in creating a good customer experience. Next step was to try and print something. My computer had no problem finding the printer and enabling it. The printer however had huge problems trying to print anything. I went through several rounds of "incorrect paper size" and a few of a blank page exiting the machine. No luck in getting it to print anything but 2 blank pages. Enter customer service, With the first call they wanted to know if I was over 50 for a promotion. I did not answer and the call would not go through. Apparently Canon is desperate to get the demographic data of 50 and over for their products. The next call resulted in an inadequately trained machine that could not understand the model number that I recited twice. The final call of the day informed me that they were having heavier than usual (surprise) call volumes, and the wait would be over an hour. No call back option was provided. The only thing that prevents me from immediately returning the printer is the hassle of repacking it and taking it to UPS, but that's what I'm going to do if one more try doesn't get the thing printing. Canon's lack of concern for their customers is incredible. I used to respect the brand but no longer. I hope the CEO has a meeting with the printer division head and his marketing person to discuss their performance. UPDATE: Installed the software that came with the printer and the "wrong paper size" problem seems to be resolved. So, don't rely on the Windows generic driver to work. The other concerns with the printer remain - particularly the lack of clarity and customer orientation. UPDATE NUMBER 2: Since I've had the printer on-line with the Cannon software, virtually every time I use it, it will not print until I run the Windows 10 troubleshoot utility. Currently, it won't work even after using the troubleshoot utility and rebooting both the computer and printer. Throughout all of this, my Brother black and white laser printer has worked without any problems at all. The Cannon is now useless to me and I totally regret buying it.

This printer works like a professional high end printer. The colors are bright and crisp, the text is clear and easy to read. It was easy to set up. I had a problem setting up the default paper type, and the instructions were not clear, so I called in to support. I had to wait 45 minutes to get someone (while I was on hold), but once I reached someone, he helped me update the drivers and set the defaults that I needed. This printer doesn't scan, copy, fax or anything else - it just prints. But that's all I needed it to do, and it does a great job of doing it. I have three complaints. First, this is really LOUD. I think that it's the loudest printer that I have ever purchased. Second, there is no secondary paper input. You can feed a single sheet in through the manual slot on the front, but if you want to print on cardstock or envelopes and want to stack a bunch of them in a secondary paper source, you can't. You need to reload the main paper tray. Third (and this might be picky, but) when the paper comes out, it lies flat on the top of the printer. there is no depression on the top of the printer that allows you to put your fingers under the paper to pick it up. The edge of the paper sits flush with the top of the printer, so you need to work to get your finger under the paper to pick it up. I've attached a picture to show you. A small thing, but a continuing annoyance. The printer handles paper of all thicknesses smoothly. I have printed two sided on card stock, and it handles it just fine. Unlike the inkjet printers that Canon makes, which feel very consumer, and are great for occasional printing, but feel all plastic and cheap, this printer looks, feels and acts like a professional, business class printer. Other than my small complaints, I'm glad that I bought it. for the $225 I paid, it's a solid workhorse.

Printers are the bane of most people's existence. Most of them suck. Countless power, ink, time, all lost to so many printers, like dust in the wind. Tears in the rain. You get the point. But one printer has seemingly emerged from the ashes that is the Office Space-worthy heap of unworthy printers. The Canon Color imageCLASS LBP622Cdw IS the printer you are looking for. The one color laser printer to rule...the home office! Okay, okay, so I've only had the thing for a day. But this single day will forever live on in infamy as the day that I had my faith restored in humanity's ability to create an even halfway decent printer. I only hope I don't regret writing these words down later... How could a mere PRINTER elicit such an intense reaction, and such a lengthy review, ironically eating up more of my precious time, which I had only a few paragraphs ago alluded to printers as being all too often guilty of sucking up? It all starts with the setup process of the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP622Cdw. All you do is take it out of the box, remove a dozen or so pieces of tape that were slapped on it to keep its parts from jostling around too much while in transit, load its 250-sheet paper tray with a phat stack, and turn her on. A setup wizard shortly appears, one that seems to have +10 to charm (or charisma, I don't know as I don't play D&D but am familiar with the terms). This wizard gets the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP622Cdw connected to your WiFi network. I know what you're thinking: "But reviewer! One does not simply connect a new printer to a WiFi network. One must clear out at least an hour of their time in a futile attempt to get the new printer to see even a feeble wireless signal using its dinky embedded chipset, while located a mere meter away from the access point, before resigning to either hard-wiring or, worse yet, sharing the printer from one computer, 'connected' as it were via an old-timey USB-B, thus dooming said computer to a life cut short as it now has to stay on at all times if someone wants to try and print remotely." You know, like in the endearing fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Million Failed Attempts to Connect Her Printer, where her printer never connects to her home network, and Windows Sharing fails, and so, as she lived in a time before cell phones, she writes down her directions to wherever the hell she was going, and gets lost along the way, and, well, the rest is history. But hold your wires! This wizard knows what it is doing. I was able to connect to our WiFi ON THE FIRST TRY. This never happens but in OTHER fairy tales! Alright, so connecting the printer to the WiFi was a breeze. All you printer haters out there are probably thinking, "Surely there will be problems installing the thing on computers, right?" Before this printer came along and swept me off my ink-stained feet, I'd be there right alongside you, dear reader, seething at this review that is surely going to dash my printing dreams on some jagged rocks as the familiar "Printer Offline" status creeps its way in as it is wont to do. But lo and behold! There is a twist to this review that I never saw coming. After I connected the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP622Cdw to WiFi, I immediately went to a laptop in the house, and steadied my nerves for what would no doubt be a hard-fought battle of driver downloads, UAC prompts, Print Spooler service restartings, pings, hard drinking, swearing, sweating, rebooting, freezing, first-born sacrifices, and other dark times. But when I went to the "Printers & scanners" section of Windows 10's Devices screen in Settings, I had to do a triple take. No, make that a quadruple take. Maybe even quintuple! THE PRINTER WAS ALREADY INSTALLED AND READY. It felt like I was in a horror film where the bad guy is calling from inside the house, except this time, it was an archangel sent from the printer gods to fight my battle for me before I even knew one was coming. Oh reader, how I wept at this IMMACULATE INSTALLATION of a printer. To be alive in a time with automatic - dare I say it, autoMAGICally installing printers! And this happened not once, not twice, but thrice! All three laptops I checked had the printer up and ready, and most importantly, WORKING! All of this is well and good, but what of the printer's performance, you may ask? It is easily the quietest laser printer I have owned or used, having gone through three or four in my day. There is a loudish beep after a print job finishes (which can be disabled!), which is handy if you're across the house and can't quite hear the gentle purring of the printer's many internal gears and doodads. It's also color, and easily prints in a quality that bests our inkjet. Plus, as this is a laser printer, the ink won't just evaporate into thin air like inkjet cartridges love to do. The easy setup was a nice change of pace. But the automatic installation on computers on the same network? That sealed the deal. I am a changed man. If this printer holds up (fingers crossed so hard they might break), our homes will be filled with the gentle whirring of Canon laser printers for decades to come. That'll do, Canon. That'll do.

Now after approx. 3 weeks, this is my third, now completely revised review. For now, I decided to move the rating up by one star to 4 stars. I have to say I have mixed feelings about the printer and recommend reading this review to the end to know why. Initially I was very impressed though that did not last very long. I use the printer from Windows 10, MacOS Catalina (10.15.7), and CentOS 7 systems. I can print from all devices via network though I have to admit that it gave me some of a hard time to find a stable setup. Before anything, I absolutely recommend to use the drivers from Cannon - actually they are more a MUST than a recommendation. Windows or Mac Drivers did not work nice with me. Said that, that is true form most printers if you want to use all features. Drivers are available for Win, Mac, and Linux. The main issues I had is with the printer's sleep mode implementation - I did not find a way to really deactivate the mode or at least configure it in a workable fashion. The printer always wants to sleep to a point were it becomes so energy efficient that it stops printing altogether - At least when connected to WiFi networks. I researched a lot on the internet because I really wanted this printer to work for me. The issue is that if the printer is used using the printers WiFi capability, the printer becomes somewhat response-less once entering sleep mode. Once a while I can wake it up with a print job, most of the time though it was not even "ping-able" anymore. Which means none of the systems could reach it. Even though the printer itself reported all is fine. The solution, shut down the printer and power it back on. This solved the issue 9 out of 10 times. But once in sleep mode for a couple minutes, maybe 20+, it was gone again. I wrote shell scripts to have my server ping the printer each minute twice (wants to sleep after 60 seconds) but even that did not help. It responded to ping but still decided to go into a deep sleep. I got so frustrated, I finally decided to give it a final try and run a wire to the printer. I decided to deactivate WiFi und use Wired network connectivity instead. Since then (approx. 1 week) I was able to print without the need to reboot the printer - even though it can sleep for many hours, even the complete weekend. (I hope I did not just jinx myself). I checked a lot on the internet and the unresponsiveness using WiFi seems to be a big issue with this printer. So I am not sure if the WiFi card of my printer is bad and just cannot hold connectivity or if it is a bad implementation. It's not the best anyhow with only supporting 2.4 GHz connectivity. In case the printer starts acting up in the next 5 days, I will wrap it up again and return it. So far though, the wired Internet it seems to work. I did not test USB connectivity and cannot speak about that. Concluding, I decided to go up one star from 3 to 4 because the printer itself is nice, It prints fast, does good double printed pages and the print quality itself is decent.
