I love this camera. I recently got into film making and was looking for an entry level camera to start with, my choices were between the 80D, 77D and the T7i. Upon my research I realized that all have the same size image sensor at 24 MP and the same basic software except the 77D & T7i have the newer Digic 7 processor & 80D has the Digic 6, the 80D also has more features and is weather sealed. However, in terms of image quality on both video and photos the result is basically the same excellent!!!. The auto focus on this camera is amazing and really helps with filming at events. I think this camera is good value for your money if you are now starting out. My advice if you are looking to choose between the 3 cameras and you are new film making or photography buy this camera and invest your money in good lenses. I recently picked up the 50 mm 1.8 along with this purchase and the depth of field has taken my photos to a new level. Im pleased with this purchase. ... show more

I have been a photographer for 30 years, I have used Canon for most of that time. Recently I tried other brands and found that I just don't work well with them. Another problem I have is I have been getting more and more far sighted with age. It happens, but I have struggled with sharp photographs over the past 2 years. Even with autofocus. In comes the T7i with its ability to tap the view screen, focus on the tap, and shoot. It's brilliant and it's saving my photography. Another thing I love about it is it shoots tethered seamlessly. WHAT A WONDER OF MODERN SCIENCE! (inside joke ). I have not had the opportunity to use the video function yet despite that being a primary motive for this purchase. I will update this review when I get to it. Finally I have noticed that Canon has put a huge effort into the user experience and as a budding UX professional I just want to say to Canon "I see what you did there". ... show more

    • LCD Screen "Live View" Preview function from multiple angles adds another dimension to Photography.
Great Camera with amazing user friendly functions. It is about as close to a professional camera as I will ever own. Low level light and evening pictures without a flash are awesome. Would also suggest that you take several of the on-line classes offered by Canon to accelerate your skill level and take advantage of some of the many features of the T7i. This was an upgrade for me from the Canon Rebel Xti and proved well worth the investment. No comparison; the T7i is great. One feature that sold me was the LDC screen that enables you to see what will be photographed before you take the picture. I purchased this camera based off of reviews and the fact that it was a Cannon. I am no photographer by a long shot but I must admit that this camera was very easy to use and self explanatory as far as operation goes. I purchased solely for videoing and I love it. This camera takes amazing quality photos I did change the lens which helped too. The microphone did not work which why I removed some star. I contacted canon which didn’t help much either.

This camera DEFINITELY raised my production quality on YouTube! The AF is perfect, the photography is AMAZING, and my absolutely favorite camera to work with via photography. My only issue is the random static the Rode microphone has after only using it four times. I'm looking into it now (since it only started happening today), but I really wished it would have lasted longer before an issue like this popped up. The microphone is the only reason this product doesn't have five stars! It's worth buying JUST for the camera, you guys! Just be prepared with another boom microphone for longterm use. ... show more
