These knives are beautiful and SHARP! They appear to be a true damascus blade, as opposed to some that have fake printing on them. I love the look, the feel, the weight, and the overall quality. It is a small set, having ust four knives, shears, and a hone... but it is a very nice set. I have kids and a wife who are not used to caring for good knives, so these are "dad's knives" and the other set is for everyone else. They know better than to touch mine! ... show more

The six piece Cangshan knife set is as beautiful as the blades are sharp! The walnut board is solid and exceptionally finished, and makes a great modern accent piece for your kitchen. The shears are solid, sharp, and are positioned to leverage maximum cutting with minimal muscle. Most importantly, the knives are all well balanced and a pleasure to use. The quality and craftmanship of the steel is evident in its impeccable finish, which I assume is in part to the select steel, and to its 67 layered design. The wooden handles are all uniquely crafted and line up perfectly with the base of each knife. Although the knives are advertised as full tang, no steel is visible in the wood handle, so they are in fact partial or hidden tang. This likely won't deter from their usefulness in the kitchen, and enhances the design of the steel and wood. The blade edges feel razor sharp, so much so that some blades effortlessly sliced through their bags when I opened them. They smoothly cut through everything I tested, and were a pleasure to hold and use while preparing my food. My only gripe is that the wooden handles appear to have been scuffed a bit in their tightly-packaged box, evident in one of my pictures. The scuffs don't appear to be too deep, and will hopefully rub out with some mineral oil and use. I strongly considered knocking off a star for this issue, because I think knives of this quality and price point should be packaged well enough to keep them protected, but the blemishes should go away with time and proper care. Nevertheless, these knives are a delight, and I plan to have them in my kitchen for years from now! ... show more

This is a great set of super sharp Damascus knives! The Cangshan HAKU Series comes as a 6-piece set that Includes one 8" Chef's Knife, one 5" Serrated Utility Knife, one 3.5" Paring Knife, one Honing Steel, 9" Come-Apart Shears, and an American Walnut Knife Block. The scissors leave a little to be desired. I like that they come apart for cleaning but that’s about it. I had higher expectations given the quality of the rest of the set. The knives themselves are well balanced, full tang (although not visible as such), and hand sharpened. The set of hand forged knives is truly a quality product. ... show more

Quite simply – these are good knives for this price point. If you are looking for this style/quantity of knives for everyday use, this will work more than great for you. For me, this replaces a set of higher-end Henckels knives – I had a big wooden block with 15 knives, now I have three. I did not use all those, I literally used one big one, for big stuff. A medium one for medium stuff… now I have exactly that. They are really nice looking – the display holder is contemporary, which I like. You can spend thousands on knives. The media could not be loaded. This set of knives are incredibly and extremely sharp due to the 67 layers of Damascus Steel which is apparently proprietory for these knives. The grips are solid and easy to hold, neither me or my wife have experienced any slipping at all. This 6-Piece Set comes with an 8" Chef's Knife, a 5" Serrated Utility Knife, a 3.5" Paring Knife, a 9" Honing Steel, a 9" Come-Apart Shears, and an American Walnut Knife Block. The knife block is solid and quite heavy, where no one will be knocking them over very easily by accident. As a suggestion, never place these knives into a dishwasher, wash them by hand but be cautious you don't cut yourself. As I said prior they are sharp. They cut, slice and deliver the perfect cut, like the old saying says, they cut like butter. The investment in this set is very reasonable considering I will never have to buy any of these knives again in the future. We plan on using thes knives for a lifetime to the point where we will hand them down to our son and his wife. That's how strong they are. ... show more
