Description

The CALIFORNIA AIR TOOLS 4620AC-22060 Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free Air Compressor is designed to be one of the quietest 2.0 Hp air compressors in the industry having only 70 decibels of sound. The Powerful "New" 2.0 HP (SP-90407) motor is 220 Volts 60 Hertz and operates at only 1680 RPM creating less noise and less wear. The "New" SP Series of Ultra Quiet Air Compressor Motors have been designed to increase duty cycle and allow for longer continuous run times. The Oil-Free Dual Piston Pump System is engineered for high performance and durability. The CAT-4620AC-22060 Air Compressor has an Oil-Free Dual Piston pump designed to have a life cycle before wear of 3000 Plus hours compared to other comparable air compressors with life cycles of 500 hours or less. The Oil-Free pump allows for use in a variety of temperatures (cold starts) and uneven terrains (no oil in the pump). The Easy Start Valve feature allows for a easier start up using less starting amps. The Easy Start Valve releases a small amount of air from the pump at start up to produce a no-load condition allowing the motor to spin freely. This no-load start up requires less amps for an easier start up in cold temperatures. The large 4.6 Gallon Aluminum Air Tank is only 67.2 pounds making it very easy to move around the jobsite. Designed for the person looking for Power, Air Flow, Less Service and Maintenance with at Least 30% Less Noise.

  • INCREDIBLE Product! Just DON'T buy it from Amazon.
Size: 2.0 Hp Style: 110 Volts 60 Hertz Pattern Name: Compressor
This air compressor is INCREDIBLE! If you use an air compressor for work or for personal use, this one is GREAT! There are several great aspects to it such as how fast it builds pressure and especially how QUIET it is. I run my compressor indoors and you can barely hear it when you are a room or two away from it. BUT.... Just don't buy it from Amazon. Why? Because you won't be dealing with the normal incompetence we have all come to expect from the delivery drivers that Amazon has. No, you get to deal with a different group of delivery people who appear to have been hired for their complete lack of desire to make any attempt to deliver your product. I'm talking about the freight delivery people. My purchase was made after doing a fair amount of research on compressors. The California Air Tools compressor stood out from the rest. The dual piston design and the high power electric motor really set it apart from the rest. I set the delivery address to my work place address so I could be sure that the "porch pirates" wouldn't get it. And since I set the address to a business address I left special instructions stating that I would be waiting at the address for the delivery, even AFTER normal business hours. Amazon's phone app shows where the driver is and how many stops are before your delivery. The app showed that my delivery was only three stops away. I went to the front window to wait for the driver to arrive. A few minutes later I checked the app and a message appeared stating that the driver reported a delivery attempt was made but could not be completed. This was FALSE information #1 from Amazon. I called the customer service line to ask what happened for the delivery to not be made. The operator said that the driver reported that no one was available to receive the delivery. I asked the operator to look at the order's special instructions. She saw that I had stated in the special instructions that I would personally be waiting at the address for the delivery. Then came FALSE information #2. The operator told me that she would contact the delivery driver and have them turn around and come back. The operator then asked if I would mind giving my cell number to give to the delivery driver so he could contact me when he was coming back. I gave my number and asked how long it would be before I would hear from the driver. FALSE information #3 from the operator was that it would be about 15 minutes when I would hear from the driver. I waited 30 minutes for my California Air Tools compressor delivery driver to contact me. And as you have probably guessed, no contact was made. I called the customer service number again. The operator who answered told me that the special instructions don't actually go to the delivery driver which is something that I can't confirm. But with how Amazon seems to operate, this wouldn't surprise me in the least. Then the operator told me that they have no ability to send any sort of communication to the delivery drivers in the field. Again, this is something that I am not able to confirm. So, if you are in need of a great air compressor that is SUPER quiet and fast I would definitely recommend the California Air Tools line of compressors. The dual piston design will fill the 4.5~ gallon capacity of my compressor in just about a minute. When I do use it I don't have to get out a 100 foot air hose and place the compressor outside, I can have it in the house or the room I am working in without having to deal with the noise other compressors make. The only thing I am not 100% satisfied with about my California Air Tools compressor is the pressure regulator. It isn't the easiest to set to your desired pressure. When you turn the knob it will adjust the pressure in large jumps instead of a few PSI at a time. Maybe this is due to operator error or maybe it is something everyone experiences. Check out their line up if you are in need of an air compressor. Yes, they are more expensive than nearly every other brand out there. But the build quality and the operation of it are well worth the cost. Just don't buy it from Amazon. You'll regret it as much as I do when you get shafted by Amazon like I did. ... show more

  • Great quality, Low noise
Size: 2.0 Hp Style: 110 Volts 60 Hertz Pattern Name: Compressor
Pros: Great Quality No leaks on the equipment side (if your hoses or tools leak that's on you) Low noise, you can have a conversation while it's running and the noise wont reach your neighbors. Fills tank in about 25 seconds. Cons: The tank size is small which is good for typical personal work. Overall great product, size your tank according to your needs. ... show more

  • Great compressor, quiet and fast.
Size: 2.0 Hp Style: 110 Volts 60 Hertz Pattern Name: Compressor
I bought this to replace my Bostitch which is a very good compressor, but was starting to have to replace parts so time to move on. Things I noticed about this compared to my Bostitch is that it was quiet and seemed to pump up much faster even though it has larger tanks. These were two things I was looking for. The only drawback from my perspective is the weight. It is portable, but barely. My Bostitch was aluminum and very light weight and easy to pickup and move 10 feet if needed. This California Air seems deceptively heavy after years with the Bostitch. It is portable, but a struggle to load it in the back of a truck or move much. Other than the weight which I am sure is needed for the performance this gives, it seems like a great compressor. Since I plan on using it for larger jobs both nailing and filling large tires, this should be a better fit for me. If I was doing a job where I needed to move it everyday, I would be tempted to look for a lighter weight compressor like the Bostitch. ... show more

  • A contractor's dream (and his contomer's)
Size: 2.0 Hp Style: 110 Volts 60 Hertz Pattern Name: Compressor
I am now a couple weeks into my new compressor and overall I am very pleased. To start with I will say this is not the best compressor for everyone, however, if you are an idividule/contractor that is often in need of a compressor for work indoors that can still put out. This is it. Do not be fooled by the picture though this model is HEAVY and not as mobile as it would appear. That said it is I am sure far more mobile than the other 2HP offerings and can safely sit in the back of my cab if the seat is folded up. This in its self is a huge benifit as it means I can keep my $300 investment out of the rain and out of the pawn shops. If I do find myself on a job where I need more than 4 gallons of tank storage I can use one of the 10 gallon spare tanks inline just fine. Now for the meat and potatoes of this review. Is it really as queit as the sales pitch claims? No, it is still louder than I expected at 77db at the compressor. To CAT's credit though it is a much lower pitch hum compared to most other units that have a grating whine, and that 77 quickly drops off as you walk away from the unit. At about 5' away I was comfortable having a conversation with my brother while it ran. At about 8' away I had a conversation on the phone with an associate who couldn't believe that my compressor was running. Compare this to my old *insert brand here* 2 gallon .25hp unit(which I thought was quiet to begin with) and it was about half as loud at the same distance. The impressive thing is that it is managing to do this while delivering enough power to run LVLP, HVLP, and nail guns continuously. The biggest problem I have with this unit and the only reason that it does not get five stars is the build quality. Although the motor and tank seem to be of a good construction the frame and control panel have room for improvement. When I got my unit I was careful in unpacking and inspected the box for damage and found none. However, when I inspected the unit its self I found a few nicks and scrapes in the paint as well as one of the tack welds had snapped free. I also soon discovered that the rubber handle on the top of my unit had been glued on in a hurry and not properly aligned. The last problem resolved its self as the rubber handle came off all together the second time I picked it up. I was able to glue the grip back on, and straight this time, but this is not something that I expect to do with a $300 compressor. The final quality issues is the control panel that holds the manifold and quick connects in place. It has been said on here before and I will say it again. The plate needs to be thicker so that it does not flex when you connect a hose. This again is not a serious issue and I can live with it/fix it, but again, $300 so I shouldn't have to. All in all it is a great compressor with a good combination of power and noise level while remaining relatively portable and compact. The only real problem that CAT needs to address are the finishing touches. At about three times the cost of your bargain compressors people expect both a good and good looking tool. If that means the cost of the unit needs to be raised a little to cover the Q&A guy's salary then it should be done. In the meantime I HIGHLY recommend this compressor (or its larger tank model) to all my fellow contractors. Let's ditch the bulky wheelbarrow compressors that people can hear for miles and save our hearing! ... show more
