  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Good Deal
Style: 7'0"-medium-fast-2 Piece
I bought two of the light CR5 rods about four years ago to replace two broken St Croix triumph rods. I found the St Croix rods to be superior in quality, sensitivity and flexibility, but fragile and expensive. I just placed an order for a third CR5 (medium fast) rod and my original two are still going strong. The CR5 rods seem to better fit my budget pain threshold and fishing style. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Light weight
Style: 7'0"-ultralight-moderate-2 Piece
I ordered the 7' UL 2pc model. This feels like a decent quality product. The packaging was awesome. It was in a heavy cardboard tube with soft foam inserts to keep it from bouncing around in the tube. The rod was also wrapped in plastic inside the tube. The tube was inside a carboard box. The rod itself is pretty thin and so is the handle. The diameter of the handle is quite a bit smaller than what I'm used to with all of my other ultralight rods. The rod is very flexible and I'm unsure if I can land anything bigger than about a one pound fish. The flex of the rod seems to be similar to a fly rod based on my limited experience with fly rods. The joint between the two pieces feels ok, but fit a little more loose than most of my other rods. I have read previous reviews that said the joint was loose. Hopefully it doesn't loosen up over time. I checked the rod for any signs of cracking, or loose guides. Everything feels good. I'll give it another close inspection before it sees any water. Most of my UL setups are 5.5-6' and I'm putting together a setup that will give me more reach with light tackle. I've ordered three rods and will keep one or two. If I end up keeping this rod, I'll update my review after some field testing. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Can't believe how light this rod is
Style: 6'0"-light-moderate Fast-2 Piece
I'm used to St Croix rods, but I bought a small solo canoe last year and have been fishing small, tight rivers/streams. After breaking a couple of 6.6 rods by not paying close enough attention to obstacles I decided to go less expensive and shorter and gave Cadence a try. I ordered the 6 ft, 2 piece light rod. It arrived very well packed in a strong paper tube. And the rod is inserted into round foam inserts at either end off the tube so it's not rattling around inside. I could not believe how thin and light the rod was. Paired with an old Shimano Stradic 2500 it feels nicely balanced. I took it for a spin shore fishing at a local pond and it seems to cast well enough; distance on par with my St. Croix rods. I haven't given it a serious workout yet, but the craftmanship appears to be sound. My only concern is the reel seat. The locking ring assembly feels fragile compared to my other rods. I'll be exercising extra care there, snugging it down very lightly and checking frequently to keep it snug. All in all, seems to be a very good deal and unless sustained use exposes issues with craftsmanship, I'll be buying more Cadence rods in the future. I do wish the light 2 piece had a fast action option. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars These spinning rods are LEGIT!
Style: 7'0"-medium-fast-2 Piece
Please, if you’re on the fence about purchasing a fishing rod, look no further. I would consider myself an amateur when it comes to getting back into fishing again. I was in the market for the best spinning rod I could get while keeping a budget of around $100 to build a nice summer bass fishing spinning combo. I liked that this rod was cork, and looked very nice in the product images. I read through many reviews and all were amazed by this fishing rod. I’ve never heard of the brand before but I couldn’t resist ordering one for only $60 bucks! Came VERY well packaged in a typical cylindrical tube. No damages or scratches on the graphite or cork. I ordered the 7 foot 2 piece medium spinning rod. Paired it with a white kastking crixus reel and 35 pound yellow braid on a 8 foot 15lb fluorocarbon leader. So here’s the deal : I was totally lost for words casting with this fishing rod. Casts incredibly smooth! Has the perfect amount of backbone while having a fast tip. The sensitivity of this fishing rod is unbelievable. The smallmouth bass fishing here on Lake Erie is in its prime and it’s not difficult to land 5 pound smallmouths. I fished this rod using a drop shot rig and casted from shore. This is by far the best fishing rod I’ve ever used for smallmouth fishing. Strong hook set, super durable, incredibly smooth, lightweight, sensitive, and is a blast to reel fish in with! It beats my KastKing perigee II bass rod all day long. This is my new favorite all around spinning rod! I’ve fished with my friends LEWS spinning combo he paid $350 dollars for and it doesn’t even compare to this spinning rod. Cadence has my respects in terms of fishing rods. Unbelievable quality at a fantastic price! If you didn’t order this spinning rod already, you’re wasting time! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Stellar fit and finish astounding customer service
First off the packaging job for this rod was SPECTACULAR! Multiple foam inserts in a super thick, heavy duty tube. After i unpacked it i was really shocked to see the quality fit and finish. I dont mean "at this price point." either. I am blown away, because i expected to see some corners cut somewhere. I can find none. The weight, balance, aesthetics, componentry, and attention to detail, are readily apparent. I paired it with a Shimano Stradic for now. If it performs as well as its made. I will be looking forward to some reels too! Edit; 1st time out this rod performed like a champ. 1st fish caught was a 21.5" smallmouth bass, again this entire experience, from unboxing to concluding the first trip has been stellar! Update: changed review to 1 star. This rod broke when my jig hit a piece of grass about 5 feet of the bank. 6lb line was enough to break this rod in 2 places. Just picked up the rod tip when i saw the grass move and SNAP! I store the rod in its shipping tube. Not damaged. Was well loved!!! To say I am disappointed wouldnt tell half the story. I bought two Daiwa BG reels and was intending on Cadence rods! Now ill just remember a beautiful product that performed great on less than 50 fish, while i use someone else's, durable product. Update; sent an email on Sunday Cadence responded within a couple hours. Requested picture which I provided. They are sending me a new rod. 4 stars for now. ... show more
